2021 Titleist T100 vs T100s. Which one would you get?

It would be a numbers game for me, not looking for longer, I would pick on control and spin rate

Yep. That’s a good price for the black ones in my opinion.  .  . $75 plus shipping for each shaft.  And that’s when you can find them.  They been in and out of back order.

Got the club in today and they look amazing all black out. Hit a few balls, I am losing abit of distance but dispersion and control are so good right on the line. I cant wait to test it out on the course this weekend.

I recently had a Titleist fitting and tried both of these irons. As expected after doing my research I was in fact the target market of the T100S irons. I tend to launch too high and spin a bit too much with my irons and the T100S brought launch down several degrees and spin down 400rpm. Was still spinning the 7i at 7100, carrying over 170.

Both 100 and 100S felt the same to me so no big difference in feel. But the 100S launched lower and flatter I think but similar in peak height for me.

Ordered a t200 5 iron, and 6-PW t100s. I have a 48* vokey bent to 49 with the same shaft that should pair well, then a 54* and a 60*.

I'm not sure if I will be abandoning my Mizunos, but if I went with T100/T100s, I would go ...

5 iron through 9 iron in the T100s. (I play a 7w, so I don't really need a 4-iron with the strong lofts on the T100s).

P wedge in the T100, bend to 45 degrees.

A wedge in the T100 at stock 50 degrees.

Then go to my Vokeys. I love playing with a set gap wedge and am thinking of just keeping two Vokeys (54 and 60) in the bag in the future.

I don't like sacrificing bounce. Risky business IMO.

I'm of the opinion that if you remove 1 degree of bounce and it had that much (negative) effect on the performance, then the specifications of your iron build was likely a poor choice to begin with.

I like this idea of landing at 45 and 50 with the PW and GW, but would go with the T100S PW bent 1 weak to 45 instead of the T100 bent 1 strong to 45. Reduces offset and adds a tiny bit of bounce that way.

You beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing about the T100s PW. Much better idea to weaken lofts and add bounce in the wedges than strengthening lofts. Plus if you went with your plan your PW may likely have more offset than your 9 iron.

I’m doing almost the same - but different.

4-9 T100s

Then T100 @ 46* and T100 GW @50*

To make this work in a nice transition I bend T100s 9 iron 1 degree weak instead.

This setup works also perfect with a 52 and 58 wedge if you would like to carry both a driving iron and a hybrid (which I do at some courses.)

Enjoying my 100s that arrived two weeks ago.  Only thing I am noticing is that the roll out on greens is a bit more than I was expecting.  Not sure if it’s too low spin or the ball I’m playing Titleist AVX?  In terms of looks, feel, distance, workability and forgiveness I could not be more pleased

I have 2019 T100 irons at the moment, 3-PW with KBS Tour 120S shafts. I went to a Titleist fitting today and ended up with 4-PW T100S, KBS Tour 120S and a T200 3 iron with KBS Tour 120S as the best fit for me... though I could easily have gone with the T100S 3 iron, I figure a bit more assistance with such low loft would be a good thing.

Some observations:

1) My 7 iron club head speed was 92mph, give or take a couple. Delivery was (apparently) very neutral, at -1. I am not super familiar with this metric so while I was paying attention, I might have remembered it incorrectly.

2) KBS Tour 120S gave me the best spin figures. I somehow managed to get $ Taper and C Taper to spin sometimes 1200rpm more, but regularly 800rpm more. This put them both firmly in the "too much spin" zone.

3)T200's gave me less spin but I don't think I would be happy with their feel through a full set. We didn't even try the CB's.

4) Back to back with the 2019 model, the 2021 T100 and T100S feel so much better (to me, anyway) than the 2019's. Softer feel, nicer sound. This would almost be worth making the change for alone.

5) The U505 utility feels amazing compared to the U510. It's hard to tell if I'd gain much from making the switch - I really like my U510 the way it is!

6) I tried AMT White, KBS Tour, KBS $ Taper, KBS C Taper, Modus 120, Project X LS and LZ. All in the 120g range, and "stiff." I like that weight range so wasn't too keen to try the heavier options (X7, I'm looking at you - I lost bucket loads of distance just to keep the spin down in the T100). I was pretty impressed with the Project X LZ after not liking any of their irons shafts in the past.

So I've got an order in to upgrade my 2019 T100's to 2021 T100S'. I was not expecting this at all!

Looking for a discussion about this. The t100-s is 2 degrees stronger than the t100  and the bounce is the same. The t100s has a slot behind the muscle to allow more face flex to add speed but the tungsten is tweaked (fairly sure) to optimize spin and trajectory. I like the face flex/ tungsten to aid the trajectory and spin to compensate for the loft adjust a little.

YouTube testers showed the s longer and less spin. Not sure what they said about trajectory.

The slot is only on 7 iron and lower on the s.

I don’t care for the T100s gap between the PW and the non T100 gap wedge if I wanted to keep a gap, sw and lob off set.

maybe a combo? T100s 4 & 5 then T100 6-pw. Bend the 4&5 weak a degree and strengthen the 6 & 7 in the t100 strong to gap them correctly?

Which one would you get and why please?

🙂

easyyy and others - do you know what kind of distance one could expect from the T100S compared to "regular tech" clubs?  They claim/say that the stronger lofts are to compensate for the COG, spin, and launch differences.  Our club champion hit some demo T100S and said it was incredible how they launched as high, well a bit higher, as his Titleist blade irons but went a lot further - so that lower loft wasn't giving him low trajectory.  But with a 44* PW, what does that do to the set?  And how far will that 48* go? What would the next "blade wedge" be - without the technology will we need a 50 or 51* to go with that 48* "higher, longer" launching 48?  I'll have unlimited access to a Trackman this winter, starting next week, but not so much access to clubs to hit.  I feel like a gapping session is needed with 9i, PW, and maybe that GW to figure out that end of the bag.

Golfwrx thoughts?

I’ve been struggling on deciding between t100 and t100s. Hit them both well and like them both but t100s was a little lower and little less spin and went 5-10 yards further than t100.

I think I’m leading m on the t100s Bc it helps give me a bit more flexibility and opportunity to use my 7-8 iron at a longer range (180-185 for 7 iron as an example for t100s) which will also give me better dispersion at those yardages. Otherwise I’m forced to hit the t100 7 iron harder which opens up more room for error. t100s just gives me a bit more help which is appreciated and I’m fine with that as the numbers are consistent yardage wise and no random fliers over 200 yards with a 7 iron.

im coming from blades and I’ve enjoyed demoing the t100s/100.

I think I’ve decided on t200 in 4 iron Bc it’s like a cheat code and t100s in 5-pw. Gapping the wedges will be easy for me anyway.

Just ordered the t100S 5-gw with the amt s300 black, I’m going to go with new wedges also in my current wedge set up of 53* and 58*. Since playing my favorite irons ever the Adams CMB’s I’ve tried irons that offer a little more help with mixed results. Going back to what works best.

Edit:   Changed my set up and went with T100S 5-Gw, had the stock gap wedge weakened to 49* and added 54* and 58* Volkeys

I went with the T100S and bent them 2* weak so they have the same loft as the T100's. Finally received them last week and very happy. Bending them weak reduced what little offset they had and I don't notice the extra 2 degrees of bounce. Came from 718 TMB's which had a much wider sole so that may play a factor.

I ordered T200 4-5, and T100 6-W.

To dial in gapping I anticipate bending the 5 weak, but I'm fine with larger gaps at the top end of the bag. 3W - 5i are "get close enough" clubs for me, while 6-L are about precision. Not that I am precise, but I consider them scoring opportunities none the less.

I didn't even test the T100S, there was no reason to. The T100 provided an optimal combination of peak height, spin, and decent angle.

Why would you do this instead of just getting the T100's?  Isn't the difference just 2* of loft?

Bending weak further reduced the offset which is appealing to my eye and the 4-7 have the Muscle Channel that the T100's do not. Not sure the benefit of the later but the offset was the main reason.

This hasnt been discussed enough. I think also adding bounce to the irons is another interesting component that can help as well

Played previous version of T100•s bent 2* weak to take out the offset a bit more.

Getting the itch for a new set. Debating on T200 3 iron, T100•s 5 iron then T100 6-pw. I prefer a bit larger gaps at the top end to stretch my yardage gaps a bit at the top end.

Also considering a shaft change. Played X7 last season and liked them, but they’re hefty girls.

Anyone bent the T100s 2* strong. Been playing the new PXG 0211’s for a little bit now and have gotten used to the distances and built a bag around those lofts. The only problem with the 0211’s  is they are a little big and a touch too much offset to my eye. I can’t find any bounce specs on the T100s.

Not sure if you'll need to bend them for the same yardages......have you hit them in similar shafts?
