Just had a putter fitting at Club Champion and they recommended a face balanced putter.

I tried a bunch and was making everything with the double wide and triple, but went with double as I liked the looks slightly more.

Now I get home a find it's not face balanced. Should I call back and order the triple instead? I was making everything with both but SAM said Dave so think I should change.

Personally if you were making everything with both, I would go with the one that looks the best.  I have the double wide plumbers neck and love it.  I was also told multiple times I would do better with a face balance putter.  This is my thought and some may disagree.  I think it is more important to find a putter you like the looks of, feel of and can line up vs one that matches your stroke.  Sure there are exceptions.  I've gone through so many putters over the past 5 years trying face balance, but for one reason or another just didn't work.  This double wide, plumbers neck checks all the boxes.  If in doubt call them and talk it out.  It is a lot of money and last thing you want to do is buy something you have doubts about or you know what will happen.

Did you get the crank hosel double wide or the double bend? Double bend is only 15 degrees so I wouldn't worry about it if that's what you got and were rolling it well. I got fit on SAM last week and was recommended face balanced to 30 degrees and picked up the WH OG  7 crank hosel with 20 degrees. I'd give it a few rounds and see.

I believe the double bend shaft is the face-balanced Triple Wide.

The Double Wide is the crank/plumber's neck hosel with toe hang.

When they came out in 2022, you are correct. Now for 2023 they offer the Doublewide in both hosel options for righties.  Lefties are still plumbers neck only.

YMMV - and I see the follow up posts disagree with me - but to me a 15 degree toe hang putter does not feel like a FB putter.

I've been using 15-25 degree toe hang putters for 25 years, and I do not get along with FB putters.  I bought a Double Wide DB (should be here tomorrow) after rolling it at the store a bunch, and it didn't feel like a FB putter to me... It felt like a putter with 15 degrees toe hang.   The most similar feeling putter in the lineup (in regards to the toe flow I like) was the Seven CH - which specs at 19 degrees of toe hang (I hit them all).

To me a FB putter is 5ish degrees of toe hang or less.

I picked up a 7 with the double bend shaft directly from callaway. Website says it’s a full shaft offset but it’s actually half shaft. Has anyone else noticed this ?

Anyone have experience comparing the LAB Link vs the 5k #2? I tested both today at PGA store and was torn. Btw I tested 10 putters and these were the two that suited my style the most. I liked the overall look and feel of the link more, but I liked the 5k #2 at address more. I’m worried the 5k face is too hot for me. I did feel as though the 5k performed better on mis hits though.

Would love to see a center shaft version of the double wide and/or triple wide.

Had the triple wide and felt like it was a little too big and didn’t love the long alignment line. Recently got a tour issue Tri-hot 5k 3 which is way outside of my normal putter characteristics: narrow top line, “blade” shape, lots of toe hang but it is shockingly stable. I know one of the videos said the 3 had the highest MOI and I don’t understand how that’s possible but I am very impressed so far.

Can you link the video? #3 is one of my preferred shapes (used Karsten TR Zing for a long time). I'd be shocked if the #3 had the highest MOI of the entire range but maybe they did some magic with it...

Alright. I loved this putter. Everything stayed on line but I just couldn’t always get my distance control figured out. I’m used to a heavier putter. Does this come with heavier weights?

Not sure what the stock weights are.

I just took advantage of the Callaway Pre-Owned blowout sale and ordered a Tri-Hot 5k 3. I rolled it in the store and loved everything about it but the grip. My favorite grip is the Lamkin Sink-Fit Skinny Pistol but that comes in at 70g. I called Callaway, since I couldn't find the info online, and they said the 5k Pistol grip is 55g. Does that seem right to everyone? I feel like tossing a 70g grip in there would throw off the balance quite a bit.

I do also like the Golf Pride Pro-Only Red Star which is 50g. I could even toss some lead tape under the grip and match at 55g or just let it go at only 5g.

Either way, does the 55g weight for the pistol seem right? I just want to confirm as I've been given wrong info by customer service reps in the past.

Just ordered the 20g weights. Thankfully had some Callaway points that eased the pain of a $50 price tag, but eager to try this experiment out. Thanks for the head's up

Still trying to find a Tri-Hot 5K one or two with a sight dot. I know they are out there somewhere, wish Odyssey would just try releasing something like this.

I was fit into one of the triple wides, face balanced, 36". I'm taller and like standing a bit more upright so the 1" increase made sense. I loved it in the fitting and couldn't miss, but now that I've been practicing with it more, I can't seem to get the speed right. Went to a White Hot Versa 7, same specs, except 35" and instantly my speed control was better and made more putts (fewer overall compared to the 9 holes I played with the 5k). IDK if I just need more time with the 5k because of the length, and weight of the head in the 5k, or if it would help to go back to 35", but right now I think the versa is the better choice. Anyone else have this experience with the 5K?
