Quick check-in on prices at that "$60 greens fee" Championship course that the circus will be stopping at in September.....anyone up for dropping $120 this weekend to play punched greens?

So Oosthuizen did get an invite to the PGA Champ and turned it down. Good on the PGA for doing so all the same.

LIV will not get a special "LIV" exemption into the majors, nothing suggests that will happen nor would it make any sense.  Criteria won't be changed to cater to LIV golf.

Google trends for LIV Golf for 5 years, includes 22, 23, and 24 season search data so far

 

Looks like another lower peak for the 2024 season is about to get put in both in the US and globally.
 

I believe this will have caught up to include through at least the Australia event google search data for this year, not 100% sure 
 

The US chart shows even more interest decline than the worldwide chart.

But fractured? Not really as I do not miss the guys that left.  But field strength does matter… a lot. Problem is in golf there is only one winner per week and only four of those are majors. CBS drew 1.757M viewers Sunday for Taylor Pendrith's win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, down 24% from 2.326M last year when Jason Day won. Two years ago: 2.848M as K.H. Lee held off Jordan Spieth.

I don't agree.  Viewers were down 24% from last year when we played on the same "awful dog track of a venue".  And down even more from 2022 at the same venue.

 

There is nothing wrong with the venue.  The problem is it's a designated minor league event.

No. not worried at all. Just saying that I think that their goal is to play on the PGAT.

 

The pipeline is full of potentially great young players.

 

I don't think that the 54League will be sustainable without help from the PGAT.

Seriously though, I have my ways of finding myself onto nicer courses for not so big of a price tag, but I'd sooner schlep to San Antonio or New Braunfels to go play those layouts than pay $120 to play freaking Star Ranch or Teravista. Nice conditions, really boring and forgettable layouts. Same course in FT Worth is half the price.

Too funny…so now the “problem “ wasn’t caused in any way by the aggressive behavior of LIV and their poaching of players with deceitful promises and bucketfuls of cash?

The tour is an absolute mess right now. I thought Rory could help get this PIF deal to the finish line. I doubt this deal even happens now

Same story in Houston. Under $100 is a steal for an average course with greens rolling bumpy at about 8-9 on stimp.

Rory, your last major was a decade ago. Even TW just won a major a few years ago. Go work on your putting, win something, then you can get taken seriously

Major's have nothing to do with any tour, zero.  That is what makes them so great.  Getting the best from all over th world and letting them go at it. 

 

Major's are stand alone events. Run by separate organizations that have nothing to do with PGAT, DP Tour, LIV, Asian tour, Etc.  They are "rare". 

 

Honestly the statment should be:    "If the PGAT, DP Tour, Asian Tour, LIV, etc. are so great why do those players want to be in the Majors" 

 

* PGAT does love to ist them as "events" for wins yet zero to do with them,. I guess some "smoke and mirrors" to make it look like they are involved?

 

PGAT, LIV, DP Tour....whatever tour, winning on the tour you play is nice "personal" validation and helps the bank account but even players say those wins are nice but have little meaning if they dont win a Major.  

 

Golfs history is riddled with so many "good:players" and they get that moniker of "good" not "great" because they did not win a Major.

 

Brooks  (such an easy example).  He just won on LIV and just like when he played on the PGAT he "acts like"  that he could care two sh*ts about it.  🤣Get him in a Major and you can see the difference in him.  The other one that comes to mind is Hale Irwin. Different but interesting as we won 20 times on PGAT yet 100% he is best known for his 3 US Open wins.   

 

Tiger and Jack are the best ever when the pressure is there in Majors.    IMHO Jack was the best by far. 1 8 Major wins yet  finished second 19 times. 19 times...!!! That is crazy numbers when you think about it.. Amazing really.

Hahahahah, really?   Ever look up a tee time for courses the PGAT has played?   Pretty sure they have to punch greens just like any course has too and they dont discount.  You think that PGA Stadium course is "really" worth $700 per round?  Do they discount when they punch the greens?
