New Cobra King Aerojet Driver

I saw the Aerojet in person last week.  Crown looks better in person, sole is whatever to me.  Face looks much better though.

Crazy that there’s nothing on release date or any pics or reviews.

I don't think it's surprising from what Cobra didn't do lately, like their 2022 Forged Tec X. IMO, its about their best irons, showing real hottness on the web but almost zero marketing about it.

Seems like Aerojet is heading for the same understated marketing. Definitely if this was a TM head, -BOOM- it will be heard in a major way.

Frankly, this head seems odd to me, too much like the LTDx LS in idea with the front weight and without the CNC face which I quite liked.

If this is Gary Woodland... then i'm surprised to see him using a Cobra driver

(i thought he was the flagship Wilson ambassador, and has been testing a Wilson driver... with Wilson's full R&D support to ensure Woodland gets whatever Wilson product tweaking he needs?)

I am a huge fan of Cobra and their products.  But I was really hoping to see if Gary was gonna play the new rumored driver from Wilson.  Would love to have another option in the $100 under Callaway, Taylormade, Ping, and Titleist category.

Woodland playing something doesnt validate it. The man changes drivers like the wind. It would probably be better if he wasnt playing it, so you at least know he wont be changing it next week.

Looks like he has a 10 club contract - in a previous WITB - driving iron, 4-PW, and 2 wedges. I guess he's not obligated to use Wilson's driver.

Any who, I hope he can pull off a good year!

I get he tinkers with drivers and woods quite frequently.  But the fact that we havent seen a single picture of him with it does not exactly inspire confidence.

To me it actually speaks the opposite. Seems he is a free agent when it comes to the driver and that tells me more than a staffer using what they are paid to use. Whether it lasts a week or all year, its getting a hard look and that says something (positive) imo

I believe he was replying to me when I said I wish he was giving the new Wilson driver a look.  Him giving the AeroJet a look absolutely does validate the Cobra.

Gary's gamed a RadSpeed XB in the past, and I believe he has clothing deal with Puma which gives him the relationship with Cobra(since they are owned by the same parent company).  But yeah agree, he does switch drivers often.

Gary was raving about how well he drove the ball in the post round interview I heard. Like repeated it 3-4 times.

“Got off to a nice start, which was great birdieing the first three, but I drove the golf ball well all day, saw some putts go in and that kind of freed up the ball-striking,” Woodland said. “Playing from the fairway out here is a huge advantage, and I was able to attack a little bit from there as well.”

Copy and paste that to every PGA tour player post round interview EVER.

I've seen the Aerojet in person, it's a good looking driver and I'm sure it will perform well (they usually do).

Or we could say that a major winning golfer switching to a non-endorsed driver and leading a very strong field after day 1 and raving about how well he drove the ball might be an ok topic of conversation on a golf equipment website.

Don't know how this driver working for him would validate it for your, or other's swings. I used to do this and it's a pretty flawed way to view things. GW has an incredibly unique swing.

Cobras marketing is weird. Always have drivers that perform well.

It would validate it for me, personally, based on the fact that a very high level, major-winning tour pro is using it - so that means, at least in my head, he must not be losing anything by playing with it.  It keeps up for the other OEMs in terms of speed, spin, distance, forgiveness, etc.  It means it has to be at the very least just as good as the others - because somebody who is competing for majors would not sacrifice a club as important as a driver by playing something inferior since he is not paid to play it.

I do not personally see this as a "flawed" view of things.  I am not playing it because he does.  Never claimed his swing was the same as my swing.  But if a major winner who is not paid to play the driver plays the driver...it means its just as good as anything else.  Seems to validate things just fine.
