that's the 310 yard driving iron from the Masters! Sweet!

I love his swing: so relaxed and on point. Seems like a great guy to root for. I was struggling in a tournament last month and thought of his swing; just nice and easy, 3/4 if that, stay loose and let the club and body do their thing: I proceeded to smoke a 3H 20 yards past the other 2 guys' full drivers. Of course I lost that swing thought 2 holes later and it went downhill, but still.....copy that fluidity and ease.

Is he still playing standard grips built up with like 12 layers of tape? The grips don’t look that big.

The golf.com article from last July says 13 wraps bottom hand, 12 wraps top hand over UTX Midsize grips.

These look like less than that though, but I think that is because of how the wraps are tapered:

Those grips are super heavy too and the midsize have very dramatic taper. Much more than standard. When I played them i reverse tapered 6 wraps at the bottom to one at top and they still had quite a bit of taper left.

AI Smoke Max @ 7* +8g front weight - Diamana DF 70tx(tipped 1.25”)

BRNR Mini 13.5(@12.5*) 43.25” - Diamana DF 70tx(tipped 1.75”)

TSR 3h 19* - AV Raw White 9x  -OR-  Fourteen Type 7 (19*) - $ taper black 125 s+(HS 1x)

Miura CB 1008 4-P - $ taper black 125 s+(HS 1x)

Cleveland RTX 6 50/55 - X100

That much weight at the butt would throw off the swing weight quite a bit, yeah? Any idea how they address that? I have these same grips with 2 or 3 extra wraps down low and it brought all of my irons to the C8/C9 range.

Tricking the swing weight scale.

Total overall weight still goes heavier.

Agreed with Eagle. Handle weight does not change effective swingweight, and actually increases the total weight and thus MOI of the club. Swingweight will read lower, around 1pt for every 5g of grip weight, but the club will not “feel” lighter, and in fact will feel slightly heavier. I’ve swung fairway woods with 100g counterweights in them and they felt like swinging a 2x4 even though they would measure something like B2 on a swingweight scale. Now with regards to Tony, here is the crazy thing:

If PING’s specs are accurate and his driver actually measures D7 with his grip setup, then that club would measure E2+ with a standard grip on it. Just an absolute sledgehammer.
