As someone who went through 5 stealth 2 heads in 6 weeks, it's all in the balls you hit.

I sit in the 195-205 ball speed range and even a few range balls were enough to compromise the faces.

I've also been through 3 paradym triple diamond heads in about 2 months - again something I tie to hitting range balls (although limited volume).

Have you tried the Titleist, or does that just not perform well enough for you to consider?

Sure, and like when he won at Winged Foot it was because his extreme bomb and gouge approach was viable on that type of course. How he stacks up against others these days though has been a sharp regression since he bulked up and placed everything on driving and putting:

BrysonSkill.gif.dd75ecc585ef96bae7ae6535f178b8b4.gif

Datagolf is super helpful here. 2018-2019 Bryson was basically Max Homa from a skill standpoint. 2020 was the peak of the distance gain experiment and it's been a sharp decline ever since, hence the Nicolai Hojgaard comparison:

BrysonVNicolai.gif.c2ce1faf5f33cf62fc5a12bb71390291.gif

Bryson obiviously has the advantage of a much higher potential ceiling since he's been there before, but he is rebuilding right now and his game is easily outside the top 50 at the moment.

This guy has huge talent and you never know when a guy can turn it around, but there’s also plenty who slip and don’t make it back. I could see Bryson going either way. What you show here is a clear decline. He did not look sharp at Augusta. He hasn’t look really great in a while. If you had to bet him finishing in the top 25 or not this week, it’s hard to see him doing it, at least right now. It’s just another reason it’s a fascinating game to watch.

I played the tsi4 and loved it.

The paradym triple diamond is just perfect for me though.

Did it break though?  😂

I was honestly curious if you could break it with the "space engineering" marketing.

Agreed. We know he has the work ethic given what he has accomplished up to now, and we know he has the raw talent so I wouldn't bet against him. I wonder about his health and his mindset though and I wouldn't be surprised if he's been dealing with injury.

I doubt that is his goal. I’m sure he has more important matters than thinking about annoying others with his towel. I get it a lot of you don’t like him so you like to bag on him any chance you get.

Actually I like him, but I can also appreciate good humor when I see it.

Swing hard in case you hit it!

Internet smart guy here! Bryson went to SMU, a pretty good academic school.

Also, everyone taking this towel stuff too seriously, goodness….his nickname is “the scientist”. I view it as just lightly marketing his character he has created.

I know a few dumb people that went to and graduated from SMU. Rich parents though…

Dumb relative to what? Not saying bryson is a genius, but he isnt dumb. As many have stated/speculated before he might have a touch, or mildly autistic/aspergers, which those people can be incredibly smart but say do some pretty dumb things.

Any modern driver face can be obliterated because the OEM engineers have to design the face to be super thin in order to get as close to the COR limit as possible.  @Bdckis a level 3 super saiyen that destroys planets when he's not on the course obliterating drivers.

Agree.  I’d guess he’s touching the spectrum.  He carry’s  a lot of markers.

and as much of a non LIV fan as I am , and as much as I agree he says some absolutely cringeworthy things , he also has done some things that are brilliant, and he called most of them before they showed success.

examples. His putting style and his driver swing are absolutely the most efficient motions for each out there.   Then there’s graphite in every club. Also outside thinking that is an advantage. It’s better long term on the body , and the tolerances are 20x more tight than steel.  Single length for a tall guy is also very smart.  Nothing worse than seeing a tall guy hunch over a wedge to try to reach the ground. Or him playing a 1 inch over 4 iron and having to stand 3 miles away from the ball to hit it.  I personally progress 1/4 inch between clubs 4-9 but pw-LW is same length and there’s no chance I’d go shorter.   These are all things that if he followed convention he’d be struggling against now. But he’s not.  So to call him stupid is showing your ( not you ) stupidity.

He’s socially awkward, to even unaware . And he’s prone to saying things that he thinks folks want to hear.  Most likely in an attempt to fit in. Or to entertain.  If he spoke less it would serve him better. But that’s hard to do for some.  I guess I keep going back to him vs brooks.  If we’re talking good guy bad guy , no way Bryson isn’t the better guy of those two once you consider intent. I don’t think Bryson has shown any intent to be a jerk … while it seems to be Brooks mission in life.  So that begs the question. Which is dumber ? The guy who doesn’t fit , or the guy who is purposefully obtuse ?

Like I think I mentioned in this thread or maybe the PGA discussion thread, I started golfing right when he won the US Open. I'm a manufacturing engineer, so although his social interactions were awkward, I appreciated that he at least attempted to break down facets of the game technically. I don't always think he represents the technical parts entirely accurately but I like hearing his thoughts. So many of my friends and other pros on TV basically just say "i just hit the shot i need to" or some other feel based thing that is entirely unhelpful for a new golfer. Especially since I am more analytically minded and never played a bat or racket sport.

I tried one length and arm lock because of him, and although I moved on they were good learning experience for me. I hope he has success this weekend.

I wasn’t calling him dumb, I was implying going to SMU doesn’t make him smart. I don’t think he’s dumb nor do I think he’s as smart as he thinks he might be.

I don’t put much faith in those internet doctors speculating he’s autistic.

I don’t have anything against Bryson. I like his YouTube channel but that satisfaction generally fades the more he talks.

But nobody called him smart. I was just defending him from the “dumb” stuff. Going to any 4 year university requires a certain level of “smart”, at the very minimum well above average.

Probably something like a 14 to 16 degree ... He had a similar setup with cobra Driver, mini driver, then a 14 to 16 degree wood (he would call it his hybrid)

I would like to know how much the hydro finish on the ping irons and wedges mattered to Bryson.  In wet conditions and especially thick wet rough he might think the finish is a big advantage. Water on the face is something he’s tested himself in the past.

Also I wonder if choosing the Steath 2 has anything to do with the carbon face being more durable. I remember him being frustrated with how many driver faces he would crack

Very interesting, I wonder if he didn't put the 2i into play this week since I don't think there are a ton of opportunities to use it as a tee club.  Maybe put it in for playability vs the 2i?

Meh I'll agree to disagree on the 4 year university stuff.  You basically need a pulse and the money lol.  While some 4 years (SMU probably included) require a bit more than a pulse for sure.
