Except for you collectors...why do you have multiple putters?

I have a full time gamer that I use 98% of the time.  Then I have a "bermuda" putter I use on some courses down in South Texas and the occasional tournaments elsewhere down south where the bermuda greens are particularly grainy.  My full time gamer has 2 degrees of delivered loft and my "bermuda" putter has 4 degrees which gets the ball on top of the grass and rolling a bit quicker for me.  I also like it on Poa greens that are sort of ragged.

In all honesty I haven't used my "bermuda" putter more than a few times in the past several years as most bermuda greens in Texas are not that grainy.

Buying stuff is/was an emotional support or stress release at times. I just happened to fall onto putters and golf at this moment.

Same reason we have more than one pair of shoes. Some times we just need a different feel.

This is exactly what I wondered if anyone did.

My gamer has a rear CoG. On slow Bermuda I have a terrible time getting the ball to the hole..too much hopping off the face.

I have another putter with a forward CoG that does better on slow greens. I just haven't ever swapped out. I usually only keep 1 putter. May change that.

Sometimes you just need to look down at something new to feel some confidence again.

That's my basic reason.

But the downside is if you change up more than once in a blue moon it's hard to get into a sustained groove of putting well with the same putter round after round.

The compromise I've come up with is having two almost-but-not-quite identical Ping Ansers. So I can switch up without really making a meaning change. I can kind of give myself the emotional crutch of "I'm putting this putter in Time Out for a while" and just grab the other Anser that has a tiny bit different bumper shape but the same weight, length, face and neck.

I buy putters that I like… and when something new comes along… sometimes I’ll buy again.  But I have never had a situation where a putter just quit working so  I keep them.  I also have some that are just “too pretty” to game… lots of excuses not to sell.  Truthfully, I’ve never sold a putter.

They’re all different. I’ve a soft faced t22 for high summer, a Newport two for autumn - spring, my fastback from 2014 that I can’t bring myself to part with even though it doesn’t suit my current stroke and the full x5.5 mallet for when I want something bigger. I also have a California monterey but that’s more because I always wanted one.

The Newport two has been in since purchase back at the start of the year but it struggled yesterday. So time to give something else a go.

For me. I like using different putters. I've kept most of the clubs I've acquired over the years, including putters. Everything from hickory shafted blades to the latest mallet style. Recently I played with a Tommy Armour IMG from the 40s. The next day an 8802. Today I'm playing with a Bobby Grace Anser style putter. I enjoy the different styles, looks and feel of the various putters. It makes playing fun for me.

Great question OP. 🤙🏻

I buy putters because simply rolling them a dozen or so times in the store isn’t enough to know how they’ll perform on the field of battle!

You know that feeling you get when there’s $1.25 riding on that 4’er you’re standing over on 18.  Gotta know if that $500 Scotty can hold up to the heat!

For me, the thrill of the hunt and a way to stay "connected" to the game when I can't get out and play as often as I'd like. I become interested in a specific putter and then finding the right one...then getting it refinished as needed, selecting the shaft and grip, deciding which headcover is going on it. Then eventually deciding that I have too many putters so I sell a few and use the money to start all over again. Not a chance I've broken even but I usually come close to getting back what I've put into them, sometimes get lucky and make a small profit (but that's not what its about.)

I currently have a 350g Mil-Spec being refinished at BOS. Sometimes I go a while without getting anything but it's become as much of a hobby as actually playing is.

Through the years playing charitable outing locally in tri state area, I have won numerous putters, bags amongst other clubs.

I used to throw one raffle ticket for each item being raffled off.

Now I just dump all the tickets into the gift of playing a foursome at event club or another club.

Too many excess bags and clubs.  Sometimes I'll donate some to local steakhouse outing which benefits someone or cause in community.

Why more than one putter? For me it’s due to all the enabling on this site!

Went down the PXG putter thread rabbit hole and came out with a Bat attack with M16 shaft. Actually love it.

Just last week couldn’t resist CPO deal on a brand new White Hot OG 2 ball with stroke lab shaft for 135 bucks. Can’t putt with that thing well yet on course but really good on my practice mat.

I don’t know, we have problems
