Ping Blueprint Forged S

Can you give some feedback on the blade length? Are they the exact same as the S55, or a little smaller than the i230, etc?

The face photo looks fine. I'm sure they look good at address and hit the ball well...

 

But holy crap what a Frankenstein. I thought they couldn't make toe screws look any worse - yet Ping R&D manages to surpass themselves. 

 

I do wish they would find another approach to address that issue.

Reminds me of the I200, they look great!  These things are going to be fire for PING, wait and see....I don't see where anybody gets clunky from, they are anything but.  If you think that S55 is clunky, well then ok.

It’s ping.  Some people have a reaction to them regardless of what they look like.  

Cobra tour is very similar in proportions to the i230, just a bit more compact blade length and blade height by the hosel and people act like the cobra tour is a blade and the i230 is SGI….

Everyone bitches about hosel/tip weights leading to the “WRX” hook 🤦🏻‍♂️ but when an OEM not only addresses SW perfectly but also puts weight on the area where most golfers miss, then it’s “Frankenstein”

Agree.

 

i like the taylormade approach to iron heads.  Bullet weights in the hosel.  I initially thought the approach of adjustable weights in the center of the club was brilliant, but after some thought who wants to remove 5-10 grams of weight behind the spot your supposed to hit the ball?

My comment is purely aesthetic in nature. I must have missed the "WRX Hook" controversy. Sounds similar to the "I can't hit hybrids" controversy.

 

At the end of the day, I'm sure these hit the ball well.

 

I'm just arguing that there are much more elegant engineering solutions out there. I implore them to find something more pleasing to the eye. 🙂

Obviously I have not seen them firsthand but to me they look very similar in size to my i210's. I know they are probably a little bit smaller but I'm sure they are every bit as playable as the i210's. That's what Ping engineers do. They incrementally over the years make a smaller club had the same forgiveness as a bigger club. I could see myself switching to these easy! I've played my i210's since 2018. There still fine but sign the typical WRX'er, always wanting to upgrade to something newer and shinier. I'm excited to try these out! I bet the MOI will not be any less than my i210's and I would speculate ball speed retention on this hits may be just as good. I guess we will see!

s55 def more compact by a little bit as I thought. These are very similar to the 13 Ping Anser forged irons in terms of size. They were in between the s series and i series back then. 

 

I don't believe Ping sells the ping iblade anymore so it will be interesting to see how these do. The anser forged irons were so expensive that most people just went with the S series or the i series, these were more a luxury iron. 

 

Ping hyped up the 13 anser forged as well with tour players and a few put it in the bag but only for a short while to go back to their S series.

these are forged 8620, pretty indestructible for a forged iron. More hard and durable forged metal.

The bounce on recent PING tour irons has gotten insane. I was testing out the i59 recently and the bounce on the PW made it feel like I was hitting a tour striker.

I'm interested in how they will feel, the 13 anser forged are the only 8620 forged I've hit and they felt like dense and hard vs their cast but they also had a tungten bar welded on the back of sole. These don't seem to have the tungsten the OG anser and 13 anser forged had.
