Weird that they changed the pix pattern to a diamond shape, it doesn't have the straight edge that the former triangles do, don't see how this pattern would really help w alignment and curious if the pattern looks different when rolling. Seems like a step backwards to me. Golf trip to Scottsdale coming up first week of Feb, wish these were released before then.

I know what you mean after i compare the older style side by side however as someone who doesn’t use the pix primarily it wasn’t drastic enough for me to notice during play.

How much a dozen out of curiosity?

sorry been busy and just saw this....i think they were $54.....i play the pix so didnt get any, and didnt ask if you could even buy them yet as they were displayed by the fitting section....but they were certainly the new ones and had a price shown with "new item" over it.

Where TM a customer of the ball factory that was destroyed a few months back?

TM makes their TP5 suite of balls in the USA. South Carolina to be exact. They were a customer of that factory. IIRC their lower end balls may have been made there. TM also owns another ball factory (Foremost) that's in Taiwan.

There have been no complete balls produced at their South Carolina facility for years (I believe this facility was part of the Maxfli acquisition).

The core/mantle assemblies for their multilayer urethane produced at either Nassau (South Korea, fully acquired by Taylormade in 2021) or Foremost (Taiwan, independent but Taylormade did make a capital investment in order to essentially reserve capacity in 2019). In the past, the core/mantle assemblies were shipped to the SC plant for cover assembly, painting/finishing, stamping, and packaging. However, we have seen some production completely performed at Nassau or Foremost in recent years. Their ionomer offerings are 100% produced at various Asian factories.

TM built and opened a brand new golf ball factory in in Liberty, SC around 2014 or so. The old Maxli/Slazenger ball plant was/is in Westminster, SC.

Apologies, my comment was covering multiple time periods. The Liberty, SC plant opened in 2013 and to my knowledge has not produced any complete balls (I believe they outsourced core/mantle assembly to Nassau in the mid-late 2000’s and then added Foremost to the mix in 2019).

I'm trying to understand this release, TM obviously puts pride in their TP5 line. There hasn't really been a peep from them at all, some of these ball are already on shelves in some shops. There is nothing on their website, nothing on social media. Do they even care about this ball release?

Like Callaway is showing their ball all over, shoot Bridgestone who hardly posts did a release this week and all of the lead up to their new ball. TM crickets.

agreed! Super weird considering Fleetwood and McIlroy have won with the new ball back to back weeks in Dubai and yet not feeding off that momentum in any way. Extremely strange.

I wondered if anyone was already playing the new balls as maybe that was an issue but two wins.... puzzling given their hype train on the new clubs.

In testing the 2024 TP5x, Rory gained considerable distance with his irons and ball speed with his driver. Overall, the ball produced that flatter and lower peak trajectory with driver and a softer feel with more spin around the greens with his Milled Grind 4 wedges.

Rory also added a Qi10 3-wood and 5-wood to the bag at the start of the year. Similar to driver, Rory saw optimal spin numbers with the steel fairway woods that are larger and more forgiving heads compared to titanium fairway woods he had played in the past. Forgiveness, even the best players in the world are looking for it!

doubtful Rory gained "considerable distance" with his irons......thats the last thing he needs or wants but i understand the marketing aspect.

I went down this road with them on another issue. Finally, whoever was "in the box" said they are contracted, given limited info. and can't even ask for help from TM because the they are independent contractors. I felt sorry for the poor bloke trying to make a living, with little info. and no ability to reach out. TM is one strange company, and I own a bunch of their stuff, and love it !

Why even have a CS chat box if you don't even provide them info to do what you hired them to do.

I guess that's how the world works for most companies but won't get into that.

I did hear these new balls are quite good but nothing on them to this point.

Middle to end of February is what I've been informed re: the ball release. Fingers crossed as I also found it (TP-5) longer off the driver, more receptive around the greens and definitely more durable than the current gen.

It's just annoying when there are balls in stores in certain areas, they're being tested, etc. I get if on tour only but they're in the public in certain areas. Someone I chat with at a private club has these already, tested, in members hands, told me give the TP5X a try when I can.

I'm on a ball hunt right now with a few new models out, I've used TM in the past with success so want to see where these stack up before I make my decision and buy like 8 dozen balls.

I heard Rory say, the new TP5X was slightly softer around the green than 22 version, low spin and slightly lower iron flight, but not too low spin off driver and very fast.  A faster slightly and softer TP5X sounds pretty nice.
