2024 Bag Is Set Challenge (BISC) Thread!!!

Causes for concern

As late as mid-December I was debating whether to sell the PXG driver and stick with my old Taylormade M6. A late December shaft change in the PXG sealed the deal, and it'll be in the bag. I also nearly fell in love with a putter last weekend (Seemore Si2 double-bend). My putter is safe for now, but the thought of what could've been will be lingering any time I miss a 3 footer this year. 

Prediction 

C+/B-, somewhere around May. 

 

Grading scale

(F) not making it out of January

(D) this year is a leap year, so making it to Feb 29th is kinda like winning this challenge for the next 4 years... Golf math

(C) making it past Master's weekend

(B) succumbing to the lure of Father's Day and birthday gift cards in June

(A) if I make it past July, my stubbornness will take over and I'll complete the challenge

I think what he's saying is the first golf like activity locks you.  Then you can test, hit, etc. anything you want on a range, but the next real golf round you play if the bag is not the same as it was when you locked you're out.

That's how I'm understanding it.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  This is it exactly.  

 

And unfortunately, even if you play the round and don't hit the new club (and even if you immediately removed it after the round), you are out.

BRNR mini 13.5 w/Ventus tr blue 7x going in as 3 wood instead of the lst

 

g430 hybrid coming out, was great off the tee but didn’t get the height I wanted for hitting into par 5s. Built up an Apex UW 19 with a Tensei White 90TX and a TSI2 5 wood with a Ventus black 9x at 7 wood length to test for that spot.

So I should’ve tested my 5 wood on the range first and I’d have still been in. I still don’t remember putting it in the bag. Doh!

Hand injury almost healed so I'm ready to commit.

 

Driving iron shaft may be at risk, but the rest is feeling really good. We'll see how it goes and if I can resist the urge.

Finally feel good about things between 3W and 5i, the biggest question marks the last couple years. Might tinker with the putter a bit, but that doesn't even count, right???

After making it all last year, then following that performance by being out before my league even started this year, I'm seeing a goal to actually do it again next year.

 

One technical question though:

 

I have a lake place and leave clubs up there so I don't always have to pack my golf stuff with all the family stuff. 

 

If I keep my "real" bag set, and don't add any clubs up north, does it still count as BIS, even though it's technically 2 bags that are set?????

Still holding strong, but my shoulder is feeling better, so there’s a solid chance I’ll be out sometime in the next week or so.  Apparently my keys for success are as follows:

 

1. Bad weather early in the year 

2. Get injured

3. Still don’t make it out of March

 

FWIW, I’ll be trotting out 14 different clubs for whenever round 2 of the year happens.

I'm kinda bummed, I played two early rounds here in MN before setting the bag.

 

I replaced 5w with 7w, and 4 hy with 4i, otherwise the same as I completed the challenge with last year.

I have tracking . . . . . but they still aren't here!  Maybe the box will even have the wrong ones (that sounds stupidly hopeful) . . . you are in until you are really out!
