P.S. In truth, it started out as an experiment to see how many WRX'ers could read (not even follow, just READ & COMPREHEND) some simple rules.  Sadly, results were so definitive towards the negative that the committee had to shift the focus of the entire endeavor, so we've ended up with what we've got now. 

I definitely understand my depravity, I need to refresh on the rules but I’ve bought a new driver and 3 wood in the last month so there’s no doubt I’m out.  But maybe just maybe if I get a putter and a 7 wood/ hybrid by the next entry deadline I’ll make it a few months longer!

I had ordered my new clubs before the end of the year.  5 wood and 7 wood, I also had replacement wedges that were here but not put into the bag, I put my new wedges into the bag in March every year, but they are typically just a replacement, Like for Like, or a new version (SM9 going in for SM8).  I own them and they are ready, just waiting for the ground to dry up a bit.  So in the strictest version of the bag is set I guess I am out.

 

I would like to think I am qualified, but I also have 15 clubs in my bag as the "4 iron" and 7 wood get swapped in and out depending upon the course and conditions.  So does having 15 mean my bag is not set or does the fact that my clubs didn't arrive before the new year kick me out?  Or does the fact I don't put in my new wedges until March kick me out?

I’m out , didn’t make it very far this year.
 

I swapped out my Ping Sigma 2 Anser for a Northwestern golf Tom Weiskopf bullseye putter.I have been getting more greens in regulation and hitting my driver better than ever,  the parade of 3 putts is holding me back.

 

I can’t do the metronome , rocking the shoulders putting stuff and have always putted decent with Bullseyes so hopefully this helps. At worst it only cost $10 and looked barely used, grip is in great shape.

Played my first round today with the following:

Had a blast and played well by my not so strict standards. Taking out my fairway wood was the right call as was putting my 60* K Grind back in.

Well, that was fairly short lived. 44½ holes in, and I'm out. Although, not officially as I haven't done anything with the new setup yet, but I will be. I won the Hy-Wood thanks to @GolfWRX_Official and @Cleveland_Golf and I'm very excited to try it out. Plus, it would be a massive disservice to the great people of this forum to not put it in the bag and give it a thorough test. 

 

So I'm failing this challenge for YOU ALL.

Full disclosure, round #3 of the year will happen tomorrow weather permitting, and bag setup #3 will also make it's debut.  

 

The good news is, there's really no upper (lower?) limit to how pitiful this can become.  It really is like the game of golf that way.  The lowest score possible on a single hole is 1, but the highest score possible is infinite.  Just like my failures in the BISC.

Finally was able to get a few rounds in with the new Driver and Irons, simply put, amazing, driver way more forgiving than my OG Paradym, hit 11 fairways, longer but not crazy, perhaps 6-8 yards, irons are softer feeling and king of point and shoot, I was intrigued about the S400s in the irons, but I have to say they work just right for me, I play to a 3hcp, lowest score 69, highest 74 (Ok putter was working well), but still have to hit fairways and greens and I was able to do that, I have a tournament next weekend at Legends in SC, we'll see how everything goes, so far, I am having a lot of fun...

Tinkering with old sets and a back-up bag has sent me into a different level of failures for this challenge.  Main bag is staying set, and I will play the majority of rounds with those clubs.  It is my "what is old is new" clubs that I cannot resist tinkering with...

Tee Shot Clubs - Can we just get the ball in play off the tee please?  Can we?  PLEASE???

AI Smoke TD 9° w/HZRDUS Yellow - I really liked the Rogue White shaft I started the year with.  At least, I think that is what I started with, who really knows at this point? (When was the beginning of the year again?)  But, the miss with it was an enormous block and that only comes into play on holes where I preferred to play a low snapper, soooooooo.....  So, I took 6 different shafts out to the practice tee and let 'er rip, tater chip.  The HZRXRSOUDNGUSGAAAAAAA Yellow was the one shaft that I could swing as hard & smooth as possible and as long as my impact location was decent, the ball would go kinda out there somewhere playable.  The rest of the shafts are all currently in the purgatorious state that is the trunk of my car, just in case.

Epic Flash 12.5° w/Voodoo VS - This is a tough spot in the bag for me because my BB 815 Alpha fairway (with same Voodoo VS shaft) has hit more greens for me from 250yds+ than all the other fairway woods in my life combined.  But, this spot in the bag has to be a tee shot club first and foremost for me, so I put together this beast.  Low sliding piss-missles for days!

 

Swiss Army Clubs - Kinda have to do a little bit of everything here (tee, turf, fade, draw, cover the largest distance gaps while staying out of penalty areas, make me nachos when I'm drunk, etc.)

'24 Apex UW 19° w/Rogue Silver - These things are just lovely, I can't recommend them enough and love that Callaway is leaning into this segment a bit more.  

Epic Flash 20° w/VS Proto - What can I say, a trusted club and a trusted shaft.  I have the speed to play a DI here, and it should fit the bag better, but every time I try one the forgiveness just doesn't hold up to how poorly I put the face on the ball, so here we sit.  

 

Approach Clubs - These are the same heads, but they received a shaft change from PX to something a bit heavier trying to bring the flight down a hair and help me craft something more of a little baby pull fade as opposed to my more natural push block-of-the-face-of-the-earth fade.........

Wedges - "We don't need no stinking wedges!" - I have tried to be a clock-system wedge player since Pelz's book came out.  And while I still think that idea is fantastic, the reality of it is that when I have a partial wedge shot in front of me I look like the LSU version of Shaq at the free throw line with a blindfold on.  So, I'm going to give Andrew Rice's idea a try and devote each club to a specific yardage gap.  Hopefully this allows me to play most of my partial wedges with something very close to the L-to-L swing with minor modifications to add or subtract 10 yards.  This is also the reason for the larger loft gaps, as that is what should allow for the yardage gaps to work out correctly.  At least I think they work out, I actually haven't tried it yet so I'm just gonna go play a course that hosted something like 8 majors/amateurs tomorrow and wing it cuz nothing can go wrong there, right?  I'm such an idiot.........

Odyssey White Hot 2 Ball Frankenstein (Fowler/Clark style) - 54g added to the head, Triple Track stickers added to the balls (hehe), slightly overlength, 75g counterbalance in the overlength Super Stroke grip (which is on crooked, cuz it helps me get into a better/more consistent posture that way and cuz I'm a psychopath).  I built this out of pieces and parts after watching Fowler and Clark go nuts on the greens over last summer with their similarly built Versas.  And for a glorious few weeks, the sun always shone on my face (but not directly in my eyes), beautiful women smiled at me in the grocery store lines, and my "gimme" range was like 7'.  No BS.  Frankenputter has certainly cooled off a smidge since then, and everything else mentioned has gone completely to pot, but until something actually bad happens on the greens, this fella is in the bag.  

 

So, yeah.  I've changed out the shafts in the driver, irons, and wedges.  I've completely re-imagined my wedge heads & lofts other than the 58° PM.  I've ditched my favorite 3 wood ever (always a great idea, this) for a 2nd driver.  I've taken out the DI and put in a hybrid.  And I've done all of this without once drinking and eBaying.  So, if anyone needs to show this email to their beautiful, loving, and understanding wife to prove to them that there are others out there just as bad, if not worse, that they are, be my guest.  

 

Just do me a favor and put your thumb over my name so I can protect my anonmyningidignity.  I don't need my particular brand of stupidity broadcast out there for the whole world to see, ya know?
