Picked up this cheap EX experiment. If I really like it I can always order a custom myspider.

 

It was $200 shipped WITH the KBS GPS shaft from golfdealsandsteals which was a steal IMO 

 

Pretty sure it’s tour issue too.

Is that with the old pure roll insert or the newer one? How's it feel? The newer insert that they had with the Spider EX was junk IMO

Seems to be the pure roll 2 with the aluminum bars. I rolled it indoors and I'm indifferent about it. We'll see on the course.

I've been using a mallet with a plumber's neck for several years now. Cool before it was cool!

I think he is putting better with the spider because it has a smaller grip on it as opposed to the superstroke he was using. It looks like he can release it how he wants to.

Ordered his exact build (minus a few inches as im only 5'8") but I'm looking forward to giving it a go. Coming from a traditional newport style (piretti potenza 2) I need the plumbers neck but could certainly use the added MOI and ease of alignment from the spider model. Will post a review and some photos once she arrives in a few weeks!

Likely because it's more or less the same old, same old. A well-known Spider mallet head with a surlyn(?) "Pure Roll" insert.

 

It's only new to Scottie.

 

He's clearly been using the INSERT model, not the milled one.

 

The only difference is the plumber's neck. For another $70. LMAO

 

I've not seen one of those on the shelves and I could've sworn when I looked at the TM website within the last 2 weeks I didn't SEE the plumber's neck version so I thought it might be a special made just for Scottie.

 

But poking around it seems as though the plumber's neck has been written about for at least 6 months or so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

All that said, it's surely selling better since Scottie started using it.

I've been using a plumbers neck mallet for 10-15 years (Odyssey white ice 330) and I'm itching to get a new putter. The selection of plumber neck mallet's has been a little slim the last handful of years but this one has me intrigued. I've picked up the small slant neck versions of spiders dozens of times over the years in my local golf galaxy but I've always been a fan of a plumbers neck.
