He probably wanted a Lamb but needed to buy 20 more donut ball markers to get one.

Fell a few short sadly. He can get either a mustache comb, eraser to put on a pencil or a sticky hand with his Lamb Bucks.

This will be an interesting change...

 

He's got a slight out to in stroke, from what I've seen in limited down the line views of his stroke.  So the X will hold the face open a touch longer and "by the book" will help.

 

However, He's going from a putter with a ton of toe hang to one with almost none. I can see him hitting pulls with the X because the toe won't open on the backstroke like he's used to.

 

I think, with this putter, he's going to see flashes of really good and flashes of "I don't feel this is any better".  He really needs to be in a slant neck in that head. But he likely has visual issues going away from the plumber's neck.

Scottie is also way to into his own head with putting right now as well. All those testing of various Olson's he did recently guys heard him saying on the green stuff like "I like the MOI of this one but the feel of this one" like dude is too far down the rabbit hole trying to find the perfect putter and it's paralysis by analysis at this point. 

 

This isn't my words but I agree with it when someone should say "Scottie, shut the f up, stop thinking and just putt the damn ball". I've seen so many different suggestions on what he should use and if the best player in the world isn't taking advice from all the help he has then just gotta let him find what he needs or hit rock bottom with putting.

Not good...

I feel for the guy; this game is merciless when it gets you down. At the Tour Championship, you could see him in the background committing felony assault on some bushes with his putter after a short miss on the previous green.

Said the same thing in another forum weeks ago. He’s gone down the perfect technique rabbit hole and is trying so hard to make the perfect stroke each time that he’s steering the putter.

Yup and every miss or issue is the putter not the puttee(?) putterer(?). Indian not arrow. 

 

But like you said he's trying to steer the putter and not just let it do it's thing.

It’s crazy because of all the technology that exists and different camera angles there are that he won’t pull up video from when he putted well and see what has changed before trying to make wholesale changes. We just saw a few weeks ago Charley Hoffman almost win WM by noticing his grip was off compared to the past.

I could be wrong, but I think if he puts a LAB in the bag, he sees immediate results. Then, if that were to happen, LAB would be sold out the next day.

He's looking for an equipment or technique fix when the short circuit is clearly mental/psychological. Until he can resolve the root cause of his struggles, the putter carousel will continue to spin.
