Can't think I have ever specifically tuned into a Jay Monihan press conference before now but here I am...

I mean, how many changes can he mention (telecast with more shots, better online platforms, more stats, bigger purses, etc.) without saying "We should have listened to the players that left."

I hope they find a way to bring things back together.  I'd love to see some crossover with the Tours and have the Sentry Tournament of Champions be a tournament for PGA and LIV winners.

Both love and hate the course. Enjoy the challenge, but on occasion it's yielded a few results from well executed shots that weren't very sporting with the excess shaving all the areas near the greens get. Certainly not quite in the old school vein that way.

Look forward to seeing who can deal with the pressure, though. 17 is obscenely brutal, and 18 has eaten up a few dreams of better things as well. Scheffler is the man to beat if that putter holds out.

Glad you said that.  I think that the course is tricked up - a couple clowns' mouths and windmills would be not out of place.  I actually enjoyed the golf last week, and i feel that Bay Hill was a very stern test.  A great champion won.  And, as much as I like Rory, it was quite interesting to see him struggle on the front nine.

So give me Bay Hill for the win, but this field is better.

I'm not in favor of Rory's "more cut throat Tour."  Maybe some of the full field events should be cut just a little so that the players can get around the course easier, but I really enjoy a nobody who has a great tournament for a week.  Or a young up and comer who gains enough points to make the more select events.  Full field events are plenty cut throat.

They really should just cut the regular field to 120 players. I see no reason to have 144 player fields.

This could be the first Stevie Nicks quote (with Lindsay B) ever on a golf forum.  Well done!  🤓😀

Lindsay Buckingham - so deep, so artistic, so mysterious, so spiritual and so musically talented.

One might conclude he was the ultimate soulmate for women of the late 1970s.

State of the PGAT address was masterful by Jay Monahan.

Not much that I didn't know or predicted already.

1. The Tour doesn't need PIF, the tour wants the revenue though. Again, no one find revenue like JM.

2. Jay Monahan is Commissioner of the PGAT and CEO of PGAT Enterprises. JM ain't going nowhere.

3. As a reminder JM brokered a media deal with NBC, CBS, ESPN, Disney, etc....for $7B and the tour brokered an international media deal with 43 partners for $2B. They're collecting , they ain't payin"

 4. The PGAT has a line of potential investor. Contrary to what some would have you believe the tour is thriving. PGAT is just fine.

5. I'm surprised that they didn't announce a deal today, they must be waiting on the DOJ. PIF is not forthcoming with requested information.

Amended: JM brokered a deal with SSg for $3B.

yawn, to the presser.

I say live in the now and enjoy the PGA for what it is (if you enjoy Liv do the same with it). We could be listening to merger ideas for 5 years, I swear. Just listening to Jay say nothing or various players talk about less tour cards is a waste of my time. Most likely the PGA Tour is almost the same format in 2025 at this rate and this drags on.

Full fields (156 when daylight allows; 144 other times) are a hugely important aspect of tournament golf. Everyone has to show up ready to play and drama is built in, pressure is built in. Nobody is playing ceremonial rounds like we see in these no cut/low cut events and, of course, on the other tour.

They’re all hypocrites

Wyndham Clark.piggy backed Rory’s comments and that guy was a nobody 2 to 3 years ago

Playing the KFT back in 2018….oh, look what he did with his opportunities. That same pathway he’s now looking down on.

Yep pretty much. Its so stupid.  We could end up with a world tour and bankrupt B grade or KFT events that go under after 2 seasons. These people don't get it. Lucas Glover gets it but he's not entitled, he earned his way back to the top!

Agree. It's all changing.

I was listening to the Kostas/McCord podcast and they mentioned NBC was tired of Golf Channel and would probably sell it to Netflix or Amazon or somebody. Champions Tour will most likely be gone due to SSG wanting to cut costs, etc.

The Pro Golf world is being disrupted big time.

Pretty typical ‘human nature’ behavior. Get ur house on the hill and then start a “save the hills” campaign to stop further building.

*def not condoning it, but ya see it all too frequently.

What sends me was the Fedex cup fall was really good, I was very engaged seeing who got the last spots.

I get it, I doubt these top pro's watch with the passion the rest of us have. But they are talking out their ***s , its hard and cut threat to get a card.
