Yeah and Tiger has 82 PGAT wins (T1 all time) and 15 majors (2nd all time).

 

Rory has 24 PGAT wins (T26 all time) and 4 majors (T21st all time).

 

I didn’t think the opinion that Rory’s career has not met expectations considering his massive talent level was even a debate at this point but here we are.

 

And I say this as a Rory fan.  Maybe he’ll get hot over the next 10 years but I’m not holding out any hope.

Not the one I would expect, but congrats on win #25 Rory, win #3 for Shane!

 

Should it count as an actual win though? Personally I don't think so but whatever.

 

Nicklaus and Arnie had a couple team wins they share too but at least that was in a full size field like in the Zurich. Can't say the same about the team wins on Hogan and Snead's resume.

Rory is an enigma. Probably the most talented golfer in the league if not planet Earth, and yet he definitely beats himself to even the playing field.

Someone in another thread did a good technical analysis of his swing - a real oversimplification of which is that he's a draw player in a world that favors fades, and when he's off he has bigger than average misses.

My feeling on it is that somewhere inside of him he feels he's achieved enough, or has some almost religious or cultural guilt, self consciousness about doing more, and that it's holding him back.

Congrats to Rory and Shane, who suffers the same problems. I'd like to see the underdogs win more, but as long as it isn't Scheffler again I'll live with it.

They also made me $400 today, so bravo!

IMO it should count as a win. Simply due to precedent. From 1974-1981 the PGA Tour had another full field official two man team event, The Walt Disney World National Team Championship, that counted as official tour wins for the winning teams.

I think he’s largely struggled with this. He’s also lost his mettle/bottle/whatever at times as well. They’re clips of him in the locker room talking about that as well. 
 

Golf is hard. Winning majors is hard. I think if he wins one he’ll win a few more. But he’s world #2, and anyone that thinks he’s done, or that he can’t win is delusional and possibly letting some anti-Rory bias take over. I’m not aiming that at you at all btw. Just speaking generally. The comments I see about Rory online are awful if I’m honest. There’s a lot of people that hate him and want to see him fail. It’s quite telling. 

He’s quoted in 2018 saying the rib had healed up fine.

Played golf today, so didn’t watch.  Rather than fast forward the DVR I checked in here.  Somewhat heart wrenching to hear the ‘second place” guys couldn’t finish it off with.   They deserve great accolades for getting to the playoff.  

 

 With the Irish duo winning, and celebrating in great fashion, this event will be a front runner next year thanks to their celebrity status and post round concert.  
 

Not sure this is growing the game, but it’ll likely grow the viewership.

That and at anything where he's playing for the team and not just himself. He's a different animal at the Ryder Cup in both play and how fired up he gets. During this you could see him lock in when he needed to save something in a way he just doesn't during most events. 

 

His body language was still piss poor during way too much of the tournament but he at least turned on that extra gear enough to get it done. If he learned to be Ryder Cup Rory all the time and stick the difficult recoveries to 3 feet and the short irons to 15 or better most of the time in regular rounds he'd be as dangerous as Scheffler given his obscene length. 

 

He for whatever reason doesn't have that killer focus 99% of the time.

He did and I found it, thanks - not really a "struggle", he just has to mind taking it back and can't get quite where he got before (talks about his external shoulder rotation) without sometimes getting sore, definitely had an impact, but nothing he fights or struggles with -- but he did make a change and gets a "reminder" when he isn't doing it right.  He's not trying to get back where he was, swings fine the way he does it now.
