Ping putters

Recommended Posts

I'm a guy that does not like to change putters. That said, I just got in my sixth round with the Ping Vault 2.0 Ketsch (35 inches black dot...white crosshair on front...which I don't actually know what that means, if anything).

It's my first Ping in 25 plus years (I believe my old Ping was an ANSER 4). I went to Carls Golfland in August and hit every putter on the racks. Then I did it again, and again, and each time there were two putters that stood out. One was an Evnroll mallet (the ER6 I believe...it's red). And the other was the Ketsch 2.0.

I had been using a Never Compromise Voodoo Daddy for like 13 years and I got a Spider from Taylormade. Now that Spider is a great putter, but I noticed I would leave putts short from outside of 12-15 feet. And the model I had did not have the adjustable weights. The Taylormade was deadly for me inside of 12 feet, but I was leaving lag putts short all the time. The Ketsch has fixed that. It's heavier, but it swings differently. I can't explain it and I've looked at the shaft bend on both putters and the Ping just sets up more square and true for a slightly forward of center strike (which is how I hit all my putts). The Ping is about 20 grams heavier and while that makes a difference, there is something else about it that just works, but I can't define it. It might be that the loft is just a better match for my slightly forward stroke. I don't know, but it's working!

So, there is nothing magic about it, but rather it is just a very good fit for my stoke. I'm extremely NOT brand loyal, so if Ping had the goods, Ping is what I bought.

I'm really loving it. I lagged a 75 footer today within 20 inches.

I am only 2 rounds in with my stealth Ketsch with black shaft and weights with PP62 shaft. Loving it so far. The face is a lot more lively than the 2 ball RX odyssey I’m coming from but the Ketsch is the easiest putter I have used to lineup. I love being able to set it down behind the ball and it stays still and face doesn’t move when barely holding the grip. The weights or something make this putter super stable in the swing.

No clue if the TR face tech actually works but the look, feel, visual aid, and stability are a huge winner for me.

May add a flat cat Tak grip soon. Had the original on my RX.

Man3 rounds in with the all black Ketsch and I’m loving it. Anything inside 10’ feels like I have all the confidence in the world. My playing partners said they are ready to throw the putter in the lake. I have made almost everything inside 10’ which gives me the confidence to go for the cup on any lag putt as I “know “ I’ll make the comeback-er

I just received my bronze Anser back from Ping WRX for face milling. WOW!! The face is exceptionally well done!!

I am very unhappy that they adjusted my original custom order lie from Orange to Black without request or reason. I am also confused why someone at Ping decided to add paint fill on a putter I ordered many years ago without any paint fill as I wanted the flange sightlines to be subtle.

I LOVE the milled face and it'll be in play soon, but I'll have to have the lie corrected locally and remove the paint on the flange. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, they restored it to "new stock", however this putter was ordered originally "New Custom".

Oh well, the face is beautiful and should roll the ball very well.

OK, I cleaned out the paint fill on the flange and it look great! Rolls the ball so good, I'm going to send my Anser X (also Bronze) for the face milling. I'll be specific about Lie and paint fill desires.

I'm really grooving my Ping Anser Milled "0", right now, but I have many excellent Ping putters in my collection.

Exact same answer for me. I've owned multiple Redwoods, JAS Anser, Ketch, etc. This season I'm putting the best I ever have with my Anser Milled 0. I putt better with a naked topline, I have a Pingman grip that feels very natural to me and is cheap to change every season, I like the sound/feel the slot creates, the head weight is just right, and the price can't be beat. I've read the complaints about the finish, but after nearly two seasons in the bag, it still looks brand new.

This putter is sooo good! Would love to see it with the top line!

Always been partial to the Craz-E models, specifically the IN series.

Love this putter!

I rotate my 1986 Anser MgBr with a 'since 1959' Anser and a 50th Anniversary B60. All 34" with SS 1.0. The Sigma G Tyne is in the cupboard with the 1985 MgBr Kushin at the moment.

Playing the February Medal at 9:15 am tomorrow on my links course in the North of England. Looking like 33F/1C with a bit of a breeze and scattered showers. Wish me luck!!

Update Feb 2nd. It snowed!, so I stayed in bed.

That Anser 2 is a Pat. Pending... Not rare but not common if that make sense.

I have been waffling through my collection of scotties, 8802, pings, but the karsten tr anser 2 kept kreeping back into my bag.

No 3 puts my last round, i holed out many puts. I think she's going to be riding in the bag for quite a while. I think the karsten is really good looking putter, and it may just be head games, but the tr technology suits my short game!

Dunno why I dont see much of anything about tr, I guess its not as pretty as mil jobs haha

Anyone know if they are going to release a vault 2.0 anser 2 like joaquin niemann‘s? I’d LOVE one without a sightline, it looked as if his had the tri-sole too!

That is not the putter he used this past weekend. He used to use that, a Ping TR 1966 Anser 2 (Ping grip); he is currently using/won with a Ping Vault 2.0 Dale Anser Platinum (SuperStroke grip):

I did a search and wasn't able to come up with anything - could someone point me to any list making an attempt to categorize the firmness of Ping putter faces over the years/comparing the inserts, millings and the like.

I found one thing online but it didn't have anything newer than mid oughties IIRC.

I know it would still be subjective and opiony, but someone did it in an Odyssey thread and I found it helpful.
