The name of this site is GolfWRX, not GolfAllDone! They used to burn people at the stake for that type of blasphemy.

When your bag is set is when you'll find that low-ball offers and cheap bids win auctions for clubs you've wanted to try, but maybe not truly desired. My bag was pretty much set, but I have since gotten an Adams VST hybrid and Ping Tisi Tec 5 wood for less than $30 each with shipping. Both are in mint condition. I've also gotten an Adams PNT hybrid for less than asking price. I didn't need any of these clubs as I think my Halos are the best hybrids I'm ever going to find. But, since I liked the rest of my bag, I figured I might as well go back and try to score some clubs that I wanted to try but didn't want to pay a lot for. Had I wanted these clubs with a passion, I never would have gotten them for low prices. It's weird how it works that way.

Similar thing happened to me. I'm a JDM guy but weirdly back in November 2017 I had a iron and wedge fitting for a brand new set of usdm gear (it was my birthday). Everything thing was perfect, heads/lofts/lie/shafts/grips but that gear didn't last very long purely because they weren't Japanese! With JDM it's definitely a never ending search for me, as I very much doubt I'll be able to get Japan.....with an interpreter. Take the red pill and join the nutters down this rabbit hole..........

I think I am done for a while, you can see in my signature, the only change that happened was a gift from my kids, Scotty Select Newport 2.5, I had to take the Ping putter out, whether it works or not is a gift from my kids so I have to play it, since I am in Afghanistan, I'll get it fitted once I am back home for good, otherwise, the bag is good (has been good for a long while now).

I'm nearly at that point, having added the last iron sets that interested me (TW282 Rams, MP37s) in the last year or two, but not quite. Over the last year or two, I've begun amusing myself by going backwards in time with drivers. I have over 40, most of which are old, smaller Ti or even stainless clubheads, or persimmons and laminates. In a couple of cases, I bought drivers of former renown, which I'd never owned in their glory days, such as the SuperDeep.

Couple weeks ago, I put together a never used Dynacraft SP700 Forged Ti driver from the early 2000s. 275cc, meant to be a rough analogue to the Mizuno Forged TZoid driver of 2001. Threw an old Apache PM-50+ shaft in it, took it to the course. And I've had a blast playing it for two rounds now.

I have a nostalgic streak in me, evidenced by my owning several sets of Ram Tour Grinds, various persimmons, etc., which might explain my recent futzing around at the top end of the bag. I'm also close to my 56th birthday, and with a questionable back and knee, I'm not as interested in squeezing the last couple yards out of my tee game as I may have been a few years ago. It's possible I'm having more fun with the sub-340cc crowd, however...

Im kind of in that boat right now. I like the clubs that I have and dont really feel the need to tinker. I may replace my driver with a Titleist TS2 because my old driver is getting kind of beat up looking and I probably should replace my irons because they are pre 2010 and the grooves arent legal anymore (although I can still post a score for handicap with the until 2024) and am thinking about a set of Titleist 620 CBs but none of those things are what I would really call a NEED for right now.

I think that when you get to where you have clubs that you like and realize that new clubs arent going to make you any better, youre in the right place.

I’m in the same boat and have some store credit to a local shop. My bag is for the most part set, wedges are new everything else doesn’t need replacing. The store credit is burning a hole in my pocket but may hold onto it until the new line of clubs comes out around March/April next year

rkelso...

You need set up January through June to go to all the golf expos and demo days in your immediate zone. Set yourself up a schedule... January focus on Titleist, February Callaway, _March TM_, April Mizuno, _May TM_ (after two months, TM probably has three new models to test out). Take notes, make comparisons.

Then for the last six months, just play with the bag you have and **try to enjoy golf** (it's permitted!)

What's In The Bag (As of April 2023, post-MAX change + new putter)

Driver:  Tour Edge EXS 10.5° (base loft); weights neutral   ||  FWs:  Calla Rogue 4W + 7W

Hybrid:  Calla Big Bertha OS 4H at 22°  ||  Irons:  Calla Mavrik MAX 5i-PW

Wedges*:  Calla MD3: 48°... MD4: 54°, 58° ||  PutterΨSeeMore FGP + SuperStroke 1.0PT, 33" shaft

Ball: 1. Srixon Q-Star Tour / 2. Calla SuperHot (Orange preferred)  ||  Bag: Sun Mountain Three 5 stand bag

    * MD4 54°/10 S-Grind replaced MD3 54°/12 W-Grind.

     Ψ  Backups:

  • Ping Sigma G Tyne (face-balanced) + Evnroll Gravity Grip |
  • Slotline Inertial SL-583F w/ SuperStroke 2.MidSlim (50 gr. weight removed) |

  • 1 month later...

I feel your pain.

I spent this year getting my driver right and tracking down the right set of irons/shafts. The last item on the list for me were the fairways and after dropping a ton of money experimenting with different heads and shafts I'm down pretty much dialed in. I'm selling the rest. So basically, in the last 18-months I've replaced everything, but like you it's all stuff I feel I've been moving towards as a golfer. Now that I'm comfortably fit, I'm selling off stuff I don't need--did that a bunch this year actually!

After that, focus on playing. Consumerism has nothing to do with golf. It's a bad habit that exists in every hobby. There are plenty of (better) ways to spend your extra $$$.

Reformed ClubHo here, just go play and enjoy your sticks. After what is no doubt over $10K in club Ho'ing over the years, I've learned money better spent on playing nice tracks.

Other than Driver, my bag pretty much same as was 4 years ago. Scores are generally same as well, I only play on Sundays once a week, so being a 3-6 hdcp is more than acceptable, and I just play for fun.

It seems to me like the journey of perfecting a bag the way you want is as fun as finally just playing with them. Ive been through nike sumos to nike vrs to nike vapors to callaway steelhead xr to steelhead xr pros to fusion driver to rogue. I mean from bag to driver to putter. All since 2013. Im currently ending up but happy with rogue bag driver 3 wood, epic flash hybrid, apex 19 irons, 2 jaws wedges and 2018 odessey r line putter. You really just have to realize its about playing the actual game once your set up is where you want it. I will still look at other clubs after this but might not touch none for a long while lol
