Do you PREFER to walk/carry, walk/push/ ride/ electric caddie

pretty simple poll. the key is PREFER. not what you actually do. I prefer to walk, but i dont want to carry because my back always kills when i do. The push cart is nice but doesn't work well with hills...

if i could have my bag on a cart follow me autonomously thatd be ideal.....

whats your thoughts?

Definitely prefer to walk/push, but I find riding improves my score since I can be less hurried/worried about the group behind me.

Perfect golf day would include walking with no group behind.

Prefer to walk always but I usually only Walk my home course and mostly ride at others. Getting an electric pushcart made the walking experience even better.

I prefer to walk, and I use my electric trolley. It doesn't follow me, I have to steer it myself, but I'm too old and feeble to carry (or even push) my bag up and down the hills of my home course.

Definitely walk and carry. Annoying having to go all the way around the green with the push cart and then having to walk the cart path around the next tee box.

Having a caddie is the best, doesn't happen too often though, if someone ever offers take them up on it.

Prefer to walk. I use an old sun mountain push cart which needs to be replaced however. I feel like I'm mowing a lawn after 9 holes.

Walk and carry 90% of the time. If it’s a new track i haven’t played i check with the staff about how walkable the course is (length between green to tee, hills, etc...) and then I’ll use a cart if they mention it being extreme.

Wow. Many walk-and-carry people here. I only ride. I’m trying to relax during golf. I’m no pro and I don’t try to be...and of course I’m just a regular crappy golfer.

First choice walk and carry. This is my preferred way to play. Getting older I use a push cart maybe 50% of the time. I very rarely ride a cart.

I've been using an electric trolley, the QOD, for a couple of years. I loved to walk, but I'm at a very hilly course, and I had just about given up walking and carrying my bag. With the QOD, I'm back to walking, and love it. We have a sizable contingent of electric trolley users, with a variety of brands being used.

Prefer walk but like riding too. The only strong option I have is I despise anyone who gatekeeps golfers by despising those who ride. All those brands built on it can rot. I think it’s a pathetic stance and hurts the game. As long as you’re playing and having fun, you can do it walking, on a cart with music(within reason) and a drink

Two points left out of the discussion:

First: My home course and others nearby have severe restrictions on walking.

Second: Most are residential development golf courses, designed with the idea of giving homeowners golf course frontage on their property. This makes for some rather odd layouts, where #8 tee can be a quarter-mile from #7 green.

And, it depends on the course. On par 3 courses I can walk and carry. But on longer, hillier courses I need either a pull cart or a riding cart. I just got done with therapy sessions for an arthritic right hip. Despite pre-round warmups, the right side starts to stiffen on the back nine - even when I take a riding cart.My feelings exactly. On another golf blog, a marathon runner chimed in on this. He said he works out several times a week, but rides a cart for golf. He said he plays golf for fun, not conditioning.

I've mostly rode in a cart in the past. Joined a new club and got a push cart for Christmas, so I'm planning to walk/push more than I ride this year.

 

Something therapeutic to walking while playing golf. I just need to get in better shape so the hills don't kill me.

Walk and carry. However, an autonomous robot caddie is intriguing. I've never seen one.

I find a push cart not worth the hassle at this point in my life (which I'm sure will change over the always advancing years). But to have the cart truly take the place of a caddie sounds great.

I prefer to walk over riding, with a very slight preference toward using a push cart. However, if the weather's nice I like to take the Miata to the course, and there's no room for a push cart.

I prefer to walk and carry. Unfortunately, the back doesn't allow the carry part any longer. I've moved to a Rovic pusher and will be purchasing the Alphard Golf eWheels v2 when released to install on the Rovic. Looking to decrease the back pain as much as possible whenever walking is an option.

I'd really like a robo-caddy, though some D-bag last Sunday must have gotten a new toy....had a robo-caddy and would send it over to our tee box before he even got to his green. Almost knocked it over, play with your toys at home, no one else is impressed and respect other golfers on the course (unless you own the course, we all paid to play).

I walk 99% of my rounds and use a push cart. I am unable to carry anymore.

I walk with a push cart. I was recently on the verge of joining one of two semi-private clubs that are reasonably priced on Long Island. Unfortunately, both require carts. So, I passed.
