How soon before Spieth drops out of the top 50

If it looks like that. Yes. But not one of these ball hair hipster beards that are so popular. The ones that look like they comb them out every morning to make it look/stretch longer. But it’s so thin you can see through it and count the strands. Not one of the those. Lol.

I'm a huge JS fan and his driving stats and results I see in each tournament are so frustrating. I think he needs to move on from Cameron and find someone that can straighten out his driving. Just not the guy Phil works with.

If Jordan hit 50% of his fairways he would have so many more chances for birdie and less bogies. He has the talent, but I think chasing distance of the tee is hurting him.

Tiger finally learned he doesn't have to hit it 300 to be successful. Jordan needs to hit F & G and make birdies.

I can’t fathom what’s going wrong with him, first I thought it was a technical blip, but after months and now years of deterioration and falling into obscurity, it’s clearly something far more sinister and between the ears. If he’s not already doing this, I hope he swallows his pride and sees a shrink / sport psychologist to get him back on track.

I started off pulling for the kid but as he developed he also developed a 'blame game' towards his caddie. Add that to all his muttering and fidgeting, I can see why it's hard for many to pull for him now. In saying all that I'd like to see him rise again like Stenson was able to do after mentally losing it and almost quitting the game.

Honestly he needs to simplify everything and go from there. First of all, I think the chicken wing swing is finally catching up to him. He needs to fix that otherwise the miss wide to the right will always be a problem. In addition to that he needs to go the Tiger route where he focuses on hitting shots instead of manufacturing a swing. Maybe he should dump his current swing coach and just go the range and see if he could hit an assortment of shots again and again. This is only his first start so it might just be rust. I think Augusta should be a good litmus test for where exactly his game is. It's a course he plays well on and always finds a way to contend. If he struggles there I think it might be time to try something new.https://www.golfdigest.com/story/three-reasons-why-tiger-woods-post-surgery-swing-is-clicking

Agree with Chamblee. It's not in the head, he has a putrid swing.

Paddy ragging on Spieth's swing is hilarious. ?
I agree with @bladehunter, Spieth was at his most successful when he had relative control off the tee. Take that away and it is putting too much pressure on the other areas, similar to Rory.

lol. Maybe so. But it’s not due to the swing in the video you posted. It’s todays swing coupled with the confidence that it killed.

Saw him on Wednesday at Torrey playing the 18th hole on the South course.

I was impressed with the way he carried himself and the way he spoke to the first responders on the 18th tee.

He absolutely piped his drive (I was only about 10 feet from him) down the middle with a little draw. It was just as impressive as the ball flight of Xander (who also piped it), Rickie, Tony, and others that I saw there.

He had McCormick following him and standing right behind him on every swing. McCormick literally said things to Jordan as Jordan was over the ball getting ready to swing. Like little instructions about his alignment maybe. Didn't see any other player with their swing coach following them around, so obviously this is telling.

Spieth is still taking several waggles (way more than I saw other players take). It looks like he is trying to get the swing thoughts straight in his head before he pulls the trigger.

I think he will get back to being a top 10 player eventually. He doesn't appear to have any quit in him. But he needs to have something click so he can stop thinking so much before every shot. Maybe it's a matter of reps. I don't know the details. But he's definitely thinking too much "swing" right now.

The fact that his scores seem to always go up on the weekend is strange and concerning. Maybe the swing concerns are magnified by the added pressure of the weekend.

He did hit a piercing low draw just passed the pin from about 125 yards on 18. It spun back to just a few feet from the hole.

I think he's close. If he could get the swing thoughts under control and get his confidence up just a little I could see him rattling off a few wins.

Edit: I also started to feel for him because Rickie was in the group in front of him and way more people seemed to be following Rickie. It was like (hardly) no one really cared about Jordan anymore. But I think he will come back.

I'm not one to beat a dead-horse with comments like "...he's done...", "...stick a fork in 'em...", etc. like some of those other folks who were so quick to wallow in the demise of some "other" high profile player, because Spieth is honestly too talented to completely fail. His stretch was more than just a fluke, he had too many victories and too much success in the long term to say he's on the decline to mediocrity. I'm very curious to know, but probably never will, how many of these staunchest of YJS fans are among the ones eating crow about an old goat, whose still got the hunger??? I for one, won't do them the same with negative comments about their guy, because talent is talent, and neither a comment by you or me is gonna change their ultimate path in life. I don't like Spieth very much, but I wish him well and a speedy turnaround back up the ranks. Guys like him only come onto the scene a few times in a lifetime, why not want him at his best, playing against the best, especially since he is so good for the youth/growth of the game?

Spieth had all his success with Cam as his coach, they've been together forever so it's hard to question that relationship outside looking in even accepting as I do that Cam seemed to maybe be overcoaching him a bit, for lack of a better description. If you ever watched Cam's show on GC, he sure seems to know a lot, but sometimes he was just mind numbing with all the detail so that seems to be his way and to some extent must be their way, but man, out there in a pre-tournament practice round seems over the top. Oh well, Spieth is a big boy.

I just chuckle at people who couldn't analyze their way out of an open closet taking shots at his swing in this thread and mocking him. Multiple major winner - he knows a bit about golf, lol.

I can't figure out other than the fact he seems to be a nice guy and successful why people are so jealous and/or somehow threatened by his success.

My wife always says he's a nice young man - she's right, more power to him. Anxious to see him get back on track.

Guy is a solid player, who but for DJ's awful 3-putt and 20 minute icing of Kuchar could be a single major winner, instead of a 3-time winner. Maybe that's where the expectations for him should be?

Yes his on-course whinging is annoying and like any other player who has a fantastic multi-season stretch he will get more press attention, but so be it. Winning at golf is hard, but fortunately golf can be a long game and with a decade plus of prime years left, it might be a bit early to chart that 50 or lower drop.
