I'm thinking the USGA is rooting like hell for DJ to "win" by 2 !!!

 

Personally I'm hoping he finishes up by 1.

DJ needs to stop feeling sorry for himself. If he felt he didnt cause it to move, he should have faith the score wont be changed and simply play on. USGA did right thing informing him it would be under review.

I think it was Faxon. It was awesome when he said on air that it was ridiculous what the USGA was doing!

I dont but he looks flustered after. Also judging by reaction by a lot of the fans.

 

This is simply standard operating procedure for USGA, they see something move, no penalty is called, they need to review it. Its their responsibility to inform the player. Nothing out of line happening here

Yeah, basically because you knee jerk react to ban things if anyone wins a major with them.

 

Furyk's -1 is pretty interesting. I don't see it winning....but it's possible

At the end of the day this is the toughest course on the US open rotation, so you never know. Could be a bloodbath the next couple of hours.

 

But i agree that chances are at least someone keeps it below that

 

People are backing up towards that -1. Wouldn't a seven or eight player playoff be epic.

Decision is pretty well written, put it up Fox instead of sensationalism. Let people see the damn rule. As usual folks on here up in arms without reading the rule or the decision. Fox getting an F for this one. Tweets from players that don't know the rules mean zip.

We all know the ball moved. The question is whether the player deemed it to move. I say no. Obviously you have a different opinion. In my opinion, he put his putter down beside the ball, not behind the ball. The ball did not roll towards the player, it moved backwards. If the weight of his putter or his actions would have caused the movement, it would have moved toward the player. Apparently most the players in the field, all the commentators and most all on wrx agree.

 

Furthermore, he called in a rules official and ... Call it then or at least tell he they are going g to review post round. To wait unti 12 to put that his head is bush league.

Someone I respect alot in the game of golf just told me "in today's litigious society, if DJ loses on that penalty stroke, a gambler who bet on DJ is going to sue the USGA".

I don't understand how the rule is any different now. If you're over the ball and it moves, it's a penalty. Same as before.

Golf may really need to fix the rules whereby a person can be penalized for something that gave him no advantage.

If the Usga is making their decision off the hd slo motion video, then they are violating their own rule change from 2014. If you can't tell with the naked eye ball movement then there isn't a penalty. The same thing goes for telling how that ball moved.
