Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

Am I the only one that has noticed the kirkland not checking as much on chip shots? Seems like it hops once, looks like its trying to grab....then releases and rolls out more than normal. I usually play chromesofts. I feel like with full shots the distance and spin I see are equal and what i would expect. It's only around the greens.

Anyone else experience this?

I think most are comparing it to a ProV1 as far as spin, and as that is my main ball it was the comparison I made. I don't play a Chrome Soft so can't comment on the roll difference, but if you're looking for a ProV replacement this stacks up nicely.

Ping G400 Max Ventus Blue TR

Ping G425 Tensi Orange 3W

Ping G30 5W Tensi Orange 5W

Ping G425 Hybrid Tensi Orange 4H

Ping G425 5-S Recoil 780 ES Smacwrap F4

Ping Glide LW

Yes, even with very tight conditions you must really hit with a descending firm impact to get a check then short release.

Otherwise it's like chipping a two piece surlyn covered ball.

Sounds like inconsistency with the strike IMO. With identical impact characteristics there are very minimal differences in how any urethane ball will react when chipping.

With the possible exception of B330-RX which has a very firm cover.

I picked up a 2 dozen pack for $30 at my local Costco on Friday. Played my first round today in Palm Desert. Very good ball. Beyond very good! Can hands with balls 3 times the cost per dozen. Expect Costco to raise the price with all the positive reviews.

Doubt it.... It's way easier to drop prices if the product doesn't sell then to make even a small price increase after you've won customers over. Their Hot Dog deal and pizzas sell like condoms in a cat house and they don't raise those prices...

How do you train cats to open the little packages with their paws?

Why would they raise the price when they can dominate the market? This ball has only been out a few weeks. Wait until word gets out to normal people. I've played a few rounds now and even spent an hour just chipping with my 58 and 54 with 2 Ksigs - 2 ProV1x's - and 2 Srixon XV's and trying to get a feel for the roll outs and how they check up. For me - a mid capper - there is no difference between the balls on pitch/chips with the exception of my inconsistent ball striking. Roll out is very similar - or not enough for me to pay for the higher priced ball. I have noticed that the covers on the Ksigs are wearing almost exactly like the covers on the Pro V's during a round. Driver and irons all feel and fly the same - if I hit well - they fly well - If I mishit - well, they do that too.

This is basically my conclusion as well. Any differences in this ball compared to a ProV1 or other similar premium ball are insignificant compared to the other variables like my swing, green condition, how the ball is sitting, wind, temperature, etc etc.

They won't - they are not in the ball market.

They are in the "attract new members" market - and they get/keep members by providing excellent quality and value. They provide value at an average markup of 2.5% on their items...and a margin of no greater than 15% (or something like that)

The only thing they will replace the ball with is if they can find a better value for the customers, IMO.

From a Costco manager. The balls were a limited run to gauge interest. Costco wasn't sure a Kirkland branded golf ball would go over. It has. Only the top 20 golf selling Costco stores got any of the KSigs. That's it for now. This is why your not seeing more reports of in store KSigs. Basically what's out there is all there is for now. He expects production to be ramped up ASAP. And expect to see the ball in Golf Digests Hot List next year.

What about the wine Phil...please say they're getting more wine.

Site says they'll be back on November 21st. (in time for Christmas I suppose)

I have 5 1/2 dozen on hand, with another 2 dozen my friend said he wanted.

He's not getting them until after the 21st, just in case...

I played another one this morning, it seems these things are very tough to lose. In about 8 rounds, I've only lost one with my driver and it's "freaking leaves everywhere" season around here.

For me, they just seem to stay in play better with the driver. I did hit the edge of the hole today with a 6 iron, so there's that... 1/4 inch to the right mighta stuck for the ace...

I just tried buying some for my son, to no avail. Costco is out of stock, and the ebay sellers are now as well even though they list inventory (after I bought some for $40 for 2 dozen, they came back and said sorry, oos and issued me a refund). I hope they come back in stock before thanksgiving, that's when all of our kids are around so we do gifts at that time. Bummer.

Wow "out of stock" already. Glad I placed my order in on Saturday, Oct. 29th and received my 2 Doz in today. Looking forward to seeing what the hype is about.

a few on ebay if anyone is desperate

Just shows you how erratic consumer behavior is. People are trying to flip Costco balls for profit. What the hell has the world come to

Ummmm, nope. My chipping/short game is very consistent and probably the strongest part of my game. THe project a checked nicely, the smell checkered nicely, the proV1 checks nicely. The KSig is similar to the TaylorMade RBZ urethane.

But hey, thanks for assuming you know anything about my game or skillz?

My advice would be to make sure to hit down in a descending blow when chipping. LOL

Always more wine. Kirkland Signature Pinot Grigio was $5.99 a bottle, picked up 12.
