Kirkland Signature (Costco) golf balls (MERGED) (NO BST POSTS)

I just tried buying some for my son, to no avail. Costco is out of stock, and the ebay sellers are now as well even though they list inventory (after I bought some for $40 for 2 dozen, they came back and said sorry, oos and issued me a refund). I hope they come back in stock before thanksgiving, that's when all of our kids are around so we do gifts at that time. Bummer.

All they are doing is up charging you, then they go to the Costco site and buy them but have then shipped to you. Basically drop shipping them from Costco. It's a great scam on their part and Costco can't really do anything about it I guess.

Am I the only one that has noticed the kirkland not checking as much on chip shots? Seems like it hops once, looks like its trying to grab....then releases and rolls out more than normal. I usually play chromesofts. I feel like with full shots the distance and spin I see are equal and what i would expect. It's only around the greens.

Anyone else experience this?

Yes, even with very tight conditions you must really hit with a descending firm impact to get a check then short release.

Otherwise it's like chipping a two piece surlyn covered ball.

Sounds like inconsistency with the strike IMO. With identical impact characteristics there are very minimal differences in how any urethane ball will react when chipping.

Ummmm, nope. My chipping/short game is very consistent and probably the strongest part of my game. THe project a checked nicely, the smell checkered nicely, the proV1 checks nicely. The KSig is similar to the TaylorMade RBZ urethane.

But hey, thanks for assuming you know anything about my game or skillz

I doubt he or she meant anything by it...it was his opinion after all but I will ask you this...why compare the two softest balls on the market to the K-Sig which is geared similarly to the Vice Pro Plus and could even be placed between a ProV1 and ProV1x? it seems to be an unfair comparison. You can practically scuff a project A and chromesoft with a fingernail if you try hard enough...

TD:LR Of course you're going to need a downward consistent strike to spin a firmer ball...

Not sure how this is a scam as the buyer was refunded their money? The scam would have been the seller not refunding the money or sending different balls. Bottom-line, Costco will get more golf balls...the question is price and same quality. Knowing Costco they will try to keep the price as close as they can and push Nassau to make the same quality balls if not better. Nassau has to be happy as they have probably sold more balls in the last month as they did in a long time. Maybe this will push their R&D for the next batch of K-sigs.

It might have something to do with the thousands(ten's of?) of free practice and free balls given to pro's etc....

Somebody ends up paying for all that, and it's usually the consumer.

I'm guessing that is looked at as advertising. The thinking is that it generates more in sales that it costs to provide the balls, so it is more of an investment that should return a profit and not an expense that needs to be paid for.

Got another round in with the Ksig and it played just as well as last time. I was 8 inches from a hole in one on #17! Shot another under par round with this ball. So I am 2 under for 36 holes using the ksig!!

Keep us posted Heath, I play the same exact ball profile as you. I'm stocked on Snell MTB's, doing some testing with Vice Pro+, B330 and Srixon XV's (QMany made me get the last one lol). I'll be interested to see what you think of the KSigs.

I bought 4 dozen of these and have played 3 rounds with them and they are as good as anything out there. I have played one ball for each round and then retired it to the shag bag as is my usual practice. One of my golfing buddies bought 4 doz and has been playing terrible with them. He says its because he has been playing yellow balls for so long, he can't hit a white ball anymore. I kinda scratched my head when he said that and told him I would buy what he had left for what he gave for them.

Have you guys ever heard of the "yellow ball only" thing?

I just opened my shipment of K-Sigz. They smell fresh out of the gasoline factory

Yes.

They smell like a room just painted using oil based paint.

Other just opened balls have that same smell, just not nearly as pungent. I wonder if it's because we were buying other balls that were months/years old VS. just days old.

The good news is that the odor dissipates quickly.

I has this exact thought. It smelled like a new ball but just 10x stronger and I thought maybe they came from the factory just days before haha

I just received 6 dozen yesterday from UPS and will be able to test them out on Sunday. I usually play the Pro V1x, but for the price this may be my next gamer. The demand for the Kirkland ball is through the roof!!! On Sunday I will play both balls on a few holes to see how they compare. I'm a 12 HC so my Ball striking isn't incredibly great but it is pretty consistent. I'll report back on Sunday!

Shipment came in yesterday afternoon!

After work yesterday I put the Ksig's up against some E6's and ProV1's on my SkayTrak and I have to say I'm impressed with the results. Before I get into any numbers these feel great off the face, very responsive and performed very similar to the ProV1.

Spin rates between the ProV1 and Ksig was comparable, maybe a bit lower on the Ksig. Honestly the E6's weren't even close, but then again that shouldn't be a surprise.

I'm a believer, after these 4 dozen get me through the winter here in Florida (had to put that in here). I'll be ordering more next season, do yourselves a favor and order some of these!

So.......

I played the B330-s from 2006 until 2011, moved to the TPx in 2012 until 2015, played the Snell MTB all of last year and most of this year. I still have 4 dozen MTB that I will play all the way through. I did however buy 4 dozen K SIg's and then after the first round bought another 6 dozen K Sigs since they played so well.

I can pretty much interchange the Snell and the K Sig without an issue.

I managed to get in another round after work yesterday and once again played side by side between the MTB and K Sig. I played the Ksig as my first ball on every shot. I interchanged the Snell into a couple of shots to try and get a feel again to see distance and spin differences. While you never hit a shot the same twice in a row, I saw nothing out of the ordinary. They play very similar.
