Taylormade rep brought these by our club today. The hot new technology is called "Twistface". Basically their research shows most misses are high toe and low heel. Amazing info.... Twistface changes the bulge and roll to increase loft on the toe and decrease loft on the heel. Basically this gives more spin on toe shots and less on heel shots. They stay in play better. Hammerhead is just a "better" speed slot.

Overall I was a bit disappointed. I've always played Taylormade woods and I'm sure I'll try these but nothing I saw today made me want to jump into them at launch. I'll probably wait until I can grab one at a discount. I jumped in on Epic hype last year and didn't see any real improvement and actually didn't keep in play as well as my M2. My current M2 is in timeout now due to the G400. Hard to beat it for straight.

Simple face technology that sounds really interesting

That's about the same thing I heard from the at my local shop. They did say that the crown dips a little where the paint meets the carbon fiber, something to improve aerodynamics. Twistyface will be the buzzword this year. I guess the company who has the best buzzword will win the marketing war, and sell the most drivers this year.

I love the look of the headcovers. Can't wait to see the 2018 tour bag.

I bet the staff bag will resemble the headcovers and that is a real good thing!

I've been mocking up possible bag concepts in Photoshop over the last few days. Do I have a problem? LOL

Interesting. I know Cobra had some marketing out on one of their older clubs talking about most misses being either high toe or low heel. I think they did something with the face to counteract those misses, but I can’t remember exactly what it was.

So, if you give the lower heel less loft and your misses low on the face already launch lower, does that exacerbate the issue of launch being too low, or does the reduction in spin from the lower loft on that portion of the face cause a more forgiving shot shape?(essentially the reduction in spin is more effective in creating a more forgiving shot than the loss in optimal shot shape from the lower launch?). And vice versa with the high toe shots? (I don’t know if I worded that right, but hopefully someone understands what I’m trying to ask in the drivel above)

E9 technology

E9 did nothing for dispersion, just ballspeed. Sounds like twist face is going to help more with dispersion than E9 did.

New Bag in the making...

Still loving my G400 - hard to see it being replaced by the M4 or the redacted Rogue

Was told the tensei ck line will be the stock offering in these. Can someone validate?

What other no upcharge premium shafts are being offered?

NOT to be confused with the CK Pro.....Big Difference!!!

I would assume similar upcharge shafts as last year with some model refreshes & no Matrix :stink: which makes me sad. The Speed Rulz C Type was awesome and the Maru's were supposed to be very good as well.

Why no Matrix options this year?

Callaway Mavrik 9* - Rogue 125 70TX
Callaway Mavrik SZ 15* - Riptide 70 6.5
Cobra King 3 Utility - Kuro Kage 100X

Wilson FG Tour V6 - X100
Glide 3.0 46, 51, 56, 60 - X100
Scotty Cameron Newport 3

It appears that they may be going out of business.

Interesting that the M3 440 has a 10° loft. Not 10.5, as normal.

Not understanding how you see carbon and steel grey as ugly....it has a different shaped track but more symmetrical than 17 m1 on bottom....this club is far from ugly

Space, contrast, form, balance... general design elements... it's all very subjective, but I much prefer the M1 (and thinking about it, I prefer the original M1, visually, to the last M1 which I just bought) to this M3.

Who knows, maybe the M3 goes on to be a design classic, but, personally I doubt it.

As a marketing / designer guy, I would love to be a fly on the TaylorMade wall and see what they make of their initial visual feedback. And as a golfer I'd love to see what the engineering team make of the feedback from their pros too.

I agree with your thoughts.....and to ME the m3 is balanced, spaced properly and I love the carbon contrast! But seriously, the silver / carbon crown reminds me of a sports sedan and when you think of the y track, it makes sense if the weighting is proper for overall club balance..... we'll see I guess but I for one am excited
