Cobra's new King F8 drivers, woods, hybrids and irons

Anybody on the fence for a F8+ driver at the moment that wants to play some time this year might want to go ahead and pull the trigger. Cobra apparently released the new line without any intention of selling them and is already backordered almost 2 months depending on what combination of shaft and driver head you're going for -_-

 

 

 

I'm selling my F8+ Nardo with HZRDUS Yellow 75 stiff. It was played four rounds.

Why selling?

 

Like LTD, with my 100mph swing speed it’s short compared to Ping and Callaway.

 

I went to it because it’s so straight, but just not comfortable losing the yardage.

The F8 is straighter ? Wow, I didn’t think anything could be straighter than the G400?

 

I had the G400 standard, I found the F8+ was about same distance but more forgiving, but since putting a kuro kage 60 TiNi Reg flex shaft in it, myself (always used stiff) plus guys that hit extra stiff drivers, were hitting it longer and straighter set at 12 degrees than their Epic and M2’s, but my G25 is longer with a stock ping stiff shaft in it than the cobra, but not as forgiving. Should have my one length 3 hybrid this week coming.

That's what happens when you discount it less than a month after release. I'm referring to their 20% (or was it 25%) discount on all website purchases from a couple weeks ago.

I must just not be able to find it but what's the difference between the F8 and F8+?

The F8 spins more than the plus. They both are 460cc, but have different shapes that make the F8 look bigger.

 

CC size is hard to find for some reason. This site says that the F8+ is 440cc.

Not sure what the correct info is. The F8+ certainly appears smaller at address.

Yes, its 460cc, but because of the way its shaped it looks slightly smaller then that.

Yeah I heard about that little accident. Frankly I wish they would have cancelled the orders now that I'm suffering as a result of it. But of course I'm just salty haha.

The F8 3w is so good, man it's such a fun club to hit. I've had numerous times on course and on trackman with it... It's held up so well no matter what I'm tossing at it. The Aldila 70 2kXV shaft is also very good,I may actually keep it stock for now. Planning to get a fitting later this year for woods/hybrid and we will see if another shaft like my trusy Speeder Evo can knock it out.

 

I can see this club staying in the bag for many years.

did you test it vs rogue or m3/4 or others?

Came from XR16. Did not test vs this last stuff, but I have numbers from M2, G400 and Epic. F8 is just as long but feels/sounds most similar to G400 (and is longer by a bit) but the rails make contact so much better.

 

With the rails it can be a little tricky off very tight lies (like if you were playing Tour quality fairway) but in the regular muni fairway types or the rough, you can hit more descending which allows a little bit better contact higher up on the face IMO. I've consistently seen longer distances off the deck with F8 than XR16. It could be the shaft but I think it's strike being a touch higher on face.

Im gonna give the F8 3w a go. On order with Hzrdus red 75 6.0 shaft. See if it can touch my steady eddy reliable Ping g25.

You may find the same thing I found when I bought the F8 plus driver. I actually like to carry my G 25 driver as well, I got room, just depends on what shot I want to hit they’re both very reliable and I’ll never get rid of it .

I finally pulled the trigger on the F8 3wood today. I've been hitting it at PGA Superstores, Golf Galaxy, and GolfMarts for the past few weeks. Got a chance to hit it against the +, the Rogue line and the TM's offerings.

 

It just flat out felt better, sounded better, and performed better than everything else. It made my 2016 M1 look like a regretful one-night stand. I picked it up this morning with the stock Aldila 70 2kXV shaft. I usually have to throw in a low launch / low spin shaft but I was pretty impressed with it so it will stay for a while...

 

I went straight to the range, did my normal warm up, worked on some drills and got to the 3w. It was just as awesome and easy to hit in the wild. I ended up playing a few holes at a muni and got to hit it a handful of times. Last hit was a 2nd shot to a par 5. 250 from the pin, a little breeze behind me. Hit a very nice medium flight baby cut to the front of the green. Probably carried it 235 - 240 (that is BIG for me).

 

Now I'm wondering about the hybrid...
