Cobra's new King F8 drivers, woods, hybrids and irons

How in the world does Rick average only 242 carry distance with a 3 wood, yet is constantly in the 280-290 range for his driver? Is a 40-50 yard gap between fairway wood and driver normal???

 

I just went an used a Trackman to get my averages last week. I also average right around 242 carry with my 3 wood, but only 254 carry with my driver. And I get more rollout with the 3 wood too, so my total distance is only about 5-6 yards between my driver and 3 wood.

 

If Rick say averages 245 with 3w and 285 with driver that is a 16% difference.

 

I’m a slower swinger but I typically average 230 with driver and 200 with my Fairway. That’s 15% difference.

According to a Golfweek article (2009) Tour Pros on Average carry a driver 287. 3w 238. 21% difference.

 

Women’s Tour 220 carry driver and 195 carry 3w. 13% difference.

Oh, I'm well aware I don't hit my driver nearly as far as I should, based on the rest of my bag. I was just surprised by how short his 3 wood seemed to me. Maybe I just found a magical 3 wood combo that works incredible for me.

What’s pry a bigger daw to me than any of the tech is the arccos being available throughout the line! The ability to see what you’re doing and track all that data with your clubs is awesome.

Rick Shiels' put the F8 head to head with the M2 irons and once again his dislike of Cobra shines through.

I'll be interested to see how the member reviews on here go because the Cobra F6's almost went under the radar and are pretty good, playable clubs.

The thing I like about Cobra (Ping does it as well) is they explain the tech and don't promise "x more yards". They at least explain what they did and what it should do.

Can't wait to try the F8+ driver!! I've bagged Cobra woods the last 5-6 years--- I'm keeping the LTD 3 wood I have though, I'm not even going to try the fairway line up!

Cobra just measures things differently. It's the same as every thing else.

You can order different cobra connect grips from Cobra. But you can't put them on just any grip.

I could see him playing the F8+ fairway as it is more similar profile to his Fly-Z+, and it has the rails which he likes in his baffler 5-wood.

I really like the F6, one of the most forgiving drivers I've owned as a higher handicap player. The F8 just looks awesome, and it sounds like the tech in it is legit.

Yea, Rickie gave impression F8 was working pretty well. His stats were good last year, hoping he can add a major this year.

 

Amazing part was how much the Epic got buzz but did little on tour last year.
