I found it odd watching this event at the dust coming up off the greens when the ball struck them. Is the course just very dry or is there something about the grass?

It's the topdressing sand. Helps keep green speed up and to keep them firm.

They were also talking about how the health of the greens wasn’t where they wanted them. Weak roots.

I thought the big positive for Tiger was that he had 4 solid rounds and hit it better on the weekend.

I would have been less convinced if he scrambled for a barely held together 72 on Saturday and blew up to a 76 on Sunday.

I reckon the next step is to shoot a low round, say 65 or 66. Hard to win a tournament without posting a couple of those.

Justin Thomas strikes me as a "get off my lawn" type of guy when he gets older. (If he isn't already.)

God I hope so. I just can’t get my head around why y’all want to turn golf into the WWE.

You hope so what?

What I meant is...I'd be willing to bet he's never worked an honest day/job a day in his life. Didn't he grow up in a pro shop with his dad?

He comes off as entitled and hasn't ever likely known hardship.

Maybe I'm wrong and I hope I am.

I'm also concerned about Tiger saying that he needs to hit the gym. I don't think the internet would survive if he posts a 190 ball speed.

I think he was just talking about stamina and whatnot. He's already jacked enough.

You are all talking about Tiger like he can never win again. It's his third tournament back after pretty much 3 seasons out and some debilitating injuries and addiction issues. He finished solo 12th. He will get used to the tournament grind again, and I think if his body is holding up, then his mind may become more focussed on shooting scores.

I don't think he's ever going to be as prolific as he once was, but I would not be surprised to see him in contention in several events, and place well at either Augusta or the Open, and I can also see him back in le Ryder Cup team.

Sam Burns received a sponsor's exemption into the Honda. Since he finished in the top 10, he will be able to play in the next "regular" tournament. Has a chance to play his way on Tour. :-)

I was really impressed with that kid today. Most seasoned veteran golfers wilt under the pressure of playing in Tiger's group.

Still can't believe as college player of the year he was left off last year's Walker Cup but he's getting the last laugh now.

The only way to stop these idiots from screaming is to start tossing them!

So people can only yell certain things? It wasnt during his swing and the ball was in the air. Just shows how sensitive JT is.

Why yell anything? What is with the bizarre desire to act like an absolute clown shoe?

Effing idiots. The lot.

It’s a public sporting event that pushes extreme alcohol sales....people yell, scream, and act goofy...who cares? Not sure of any sporting event that offers the prudish atmosphere you desire.

Does the defending champion hand out the trophy? Or was fowler just there to watch the last hole?

Fowler was there to congratulate JT for the win. Last year when JT missed the cut he came back on Sunday to congratulate Fowler. Fowler was simply returning the favor as they are great friends. Pretty cool.

Yep, was tongue in cheek. I actually expect to see 190 though, another 2-3 from getting fitter, more confident and ironing out wrinkles and the rest from an adrenaline jolt if he is contending on Sunday.

Health is the #1 thing. If he stays healthy over the next 5 years, he will win another Tour event. I am very confident in that. But that's a huge IF considering all the injury problems he has had in recent years. It really would not surprise me to see him on the disabled list again later this year.

Next injury will likely be L4-L5 disc due to proximity to the fused L5-S1 but could take some time if the disc is currently in good health.

TW doesnt need to go and sit at a desk for 9 hours a day.

Thats why most people have no back strength, no core strength.

He can work the lower/inner back, core, every day. Mitigate stress on his spine.

Guy is 42 and led a bunch on 25 year olds in driving distance this week.

Ahh yes, "I've had a few pops therefore I'll make it known to everyone" defense.

So suggesting someone act in a somewhat civilised manner is "prudish"?

You still nursing your first beer tonight, I take it... Gotta start somewhere.

Fans saying negative things is a part of basketball, hockey, football, baseball. Wait, any major sport.

Golf is supposed to be exempt?

Suck it up JT. Use it as mental ammunition.

As long as it doesn't interfere with the swing or become inappropriate in nature, I'm not against a little fan trash talking. That's part of sports.

A guy isn't allowed to say "get in the bunker"? Get over yourself JT.

Yes, golf is supposed to be “better”.

However, JT probably should ignore the half drunk “bros” and their yappy mouths. Let his caddie deal with them.

But it wasn't a yell, and it wasn't during his swing.

It was a simple "get in the bunker" when the ball was in the air.

That makes him drunk? What if he's just rooting against JT?

I'm sure other players have heard a lot worse over the years. You shouldn't have people thrown out for that. That's just JT being overly sensitive.

Rooting for misfortune or bad shots is not the way I was taught. It’s low class. Maybe fine for baseball, football, basketball or whatever but golf is supposed to be better than that.

Why? Golf is a game nothing more. They make a ton money off these events selling tons of alcohol. Intoxicated or not the ball was in the air. If the guy doesn’t like JT why can’t he want the ball to go in the bunker?

He can. But he needs to keep it to himself. If “growing the game” means attracting classless d-bag bros who don’t respect the tradition and etiquette that until now has been inextricably tied to golf, I’d rather not grow the game.

I think Fowler winning the Honda last year to go along with his 6 other PGA/Euro Tour wins would have covered that.

Rickies gained some lbs

Is he getting jacked?

More lbs as in a wider face and neck. No, not jacked.

Thought maybe Allison had him working out harder

Great week at PGA National. Congrats to JT on the hard fought victory. Last season's #1 is right back at the top of the TOUR's money list.

How tough was scoring this week? PGA National's par 3 17th became the first hole on TOUR this season to play to a stroke average of at least half a stroke over par, at 3.533. That's major championship tough, and it will likely end up being the toughest par 3 all year. We'll see.

The par 4 6th (4.416) clocks in as the 2nd toughest hole on TOUR this season, while the par 3 15th (3.391) becomes the 4th toughest. They don't call it the Bear Trap for nothing. :)
