I'm surprised only 1 other person mentioned the "Artisan" serial # stamping on his new irons. Pretty certain TM had Artisan make this proto set for them since they have/know the exact specs TW likes in his irons and wedges. These look like exact models from the TGR/VR Pro/orig Nike forged blades he has preferred for so many years.

 

Mike Taylor was brought in as a consultant on this project.

Side inquiry - which versions of the Pro Orange have the Tungsten Prepeg decal on the butt end? Mine doesn't have it...

 

All the new Pro Orange have that symbol on it. It was just recently added.

Looks to me like TM bought the mold from Nike and machined a different logo. Maybe the top lines are a little more square from front to back (not heel to toe).

I see differences. 1 has Nike logo ..the other has TM bono

If you mean old as in more than 3 weeks ago, then yes. Haha

They are quite different than the VR pro irons. Different sole grind, more thin material above the crown at the Toe.

What is the black mark right before the ck on his driver shaft? Is it a proto type for him to use? Photo number 8.

Tiger is still using the same model of blade since A lng time. The only time he change was for the Vapor Blades. Snake Eyes 660B are exactly the same blades as he use.

Can't imagine that TM uses 8620 on blades. Does anyone know? Frankly, I think the best metal for irons is 304 stainless- but I can't imagine Tiger playing stainless blades.

304 SS forged irons sound expensive. Isn't something like that mainly reserved for putters where they can mill it?

I am seeing this more and more that guys are putting these Ping putter grips on non-Ping putters. Is there some mystique to this grip that makes it preferred for players?

It was extremely popular and on pretty nearly every ping putter in the late 80’s and 90’s. Anyone who played back them was exposed to it and a lot of people still like it. Obviously it doesn’t hurt that it’s Tigers only grip he’s ever used. That’s your “mystique” I guess.

 

It is a tiny grip if compared to today’s more popular big monsters. A lot like Scotty’s old pistolero. I used to like it myself but age has made me fear getting a little handsy with it. The big bulky grips deaden any hand or wrist action.

I'm pretty sure TM has said that the Rose and Rory Protos that they make are fully milled.
