Best Driver By Cobra

For me the Cobra Speed Pro D was a game changer. I still have it with my old Diamana Whiteboard. Went on to S2, S3, then played the Bio Cell+ with an Oban Devotion that was only replaced last year for an M1 with and Oban Devotion. Never even looked at other drivers when the Bio Cell+ was my gamer. The M1 just gave better numbers on the monitor and backed up on the course.

What's the difference between LTD and LTD Pro other than the loft range?

LTD Pro had "fade" aka flat lie settings, LTD had "draw" aka upright settings.

CG data showed the Pro as having an evvvveeerrr so slightly lower CG relative to the axis of the clubhead but that was just because the lower loft flattened out that axis.

Ltd pro. Probably the most ignored great driver in recent memory. 2 of our testers still play it.

Amazing driver, but for anyone like me who had to deal with the Spaceport issues it became more annoying than great.

MIne came flying out once. Used blue Loctite and never had an issue since. Love that driver. Absolutely love it.

Yea it can get loose, but loctite fixes it, so annoyance is very temporary.

I think everyone makes drivers that perform well. But nothing tops the LTD in the Looks, Sound, Feel department.

I have played the Bio Cell Pro the longest of any driver. That said, I hit my brother's F8+ and I think I found a replacement for the Blue Bomber!

King LTD: best MyFly8

ZL Encore: best pre-MyFly8

Everyone seems to mention the ZL Encore over the original ZL. Why is this? They seem virtually the same, but the original has the Cobra symbol alignment marker instead of the word “cobra” (which they seem to rotate every model year). And the original comes in a sedate black and silver.

... I think it depends on personal preference for feel/sound. I was playing the Pro S and loved the performance but really disliked the sound/feel. Being old school but not against modern tech, I really loved the muted dense sound/feel of the ZL as well as the color scheme. I really did not care for the harsh and loud sound/feel of the Encore. But many modern players love that loud explosive sound/feel of the Encore.

You sure on that? My ZLE is very muted, quieter than my LTD Black, and quieter than most guys next to me on the range.

... Sure I am sure. : ) I only hit one ZLE after hitting the very muted ZL and it was much louder and had a harder feeling face. Of course that harder face could be completely related to sound so not sure of that was a perception. I was a huge Cobra driver fan at the time after playing the Pro s, ProS9.1 and ZL so it was a big disappointment for me. I did not come back to Cobra until the release of the Fly Z. Ymmv of course

I would have to disagree. I switched from the ZL to the Encore. One of the things I liked more about the Encore was the more muted solid feel of the Encore. I loved the L4V couldn't stand the sound. I liked the ZL but it wasn't the L4V but the sound was a little better. Then came the Encore. I thought it was as good as the L4V and what made it great was that they finally got the sound and feel right. I still play it today. I think the Encore is everything right except for the word Cobra as the alignment. I like the logo much better.

My vote for best driver would be the L4V. ZL Encore 2nd place.

Exactly Sparky14. I've only been playing for a handful of years and am currently about an 11-12 but I'm not hard on my clubs. Like said above I hit my previous driver high on the face plenty but no sky marks on the top, which this is not a sky mark either. Almost like the paint rolls right into the top of the face with a tiny ridge of paint sticking up a little.

Only thing I can really compare it to is skis.. As someone who has been skiing my entire life and owned and skiied on tons of skis every once and a while you come across a ski with a top sheet design flaw. If compared my ski level to golf I would be a + handicap skiier out 100+ days a year gettin after the big boy lines at Squaw Valley. When a ski is made with a top sheet issue dosent matter how expert you are, its going to get chewed up by the unavoidable random tip bang, or clinking them together in the lift line. Your only choice is to take a diamond file to the top edge and round it off a little so it dosent catch and get destroyed cosmetically.

I guess what I'm trying to get across is that with technology going into drivers today you'd think they would have to set up the mechanical arm to hit shots that are off as well as on in the testing. Then, wouldn't they see that the paint chips in the tests. I would guess most people that play this driver have the chipping problem if they looked closely at the top of the face. I mean maybe if you a low single didgit you wouldn't, but most likely your not hitting a forgiving 460 if you are close to a scratch cap.

I have played the Amp Cell, Bio Cell, Bio Cell + and King F7 drivers. I absolutely love the sound and feel of the Bio Cell + but I found it less forgiving than some of the others. The King F7 is currently in my bag and it's my favorite of the bunch. I played the Fly z+ woods for the past 2-3 years and loved them but I just upgraded my 3w to the King f8+ and it's making me want to try the King F8+ driver. I love Cobra

I have played the Amp cell, bio cell, flyZ, flyz+, and F7+. Bio cell and flyz were similar to me but I like the bio cell a hair better so it's in the backup. Lived the flyz+ but got sick of digging grass and broken tees out of the track. F7+ is everything the z+ was but better. I thought it was to spinny till I set it up right. Cannon and fav

Was at the driving range today & after a few drives with my Cobra LTD I noticed it started to sound different. Looked down & about 3/4" away from face on the top of driver a big crack. Are these drivers known to have issues like this? Will Cobra stand behind this driver or is all lost?

Have only had the BioCell+, LTD Black and the F8+. Sound, feel and flight go to the LTD, just getting use to the F8+ but as of now performance is a toss up between the BioCell+ and F8+. Would bag any of these three great drivers.

I just sent my LTD Black to Cobra, after a tee shot one day noticed a loud rattle inside the head, removed the spaceport and notice what was about a 2-3” piece dislodged. Cobra said it was hot melt. They sent me a shipping label and will restore it under warranty. They did say it would not effect performance only swingwieght. They should take care of your problem, good luck

Of course I needed a quick replacement, enter the F8+

I got the F8+ in February and don't think I will ever play any other driver than a Cobra now. The performance I am seeing is on par or exceeds every other OEM and at a much friendly price point. I think Cobra is going to end up taking over 13 spots in my bag as the need for new clubs comes about. Amazing equipment.

Been alternating between an F8 with Even Flow Black and F8+ with Even Flow Blue for months. Quite the dilemma. Life is so hard. =)

... I was in Phoenix for 6 weeks and only missed playing 2 days, so lots of rounds with my F8 and F8+. Honestly I kept going back and forth as they both have their + and -'s but in the end, I decided o the F8 because I was just more consistent both it. Not a surprise as the Fly Z was a driver I hit better than any in my lifetime. That said, I really wanted to play the F8+ and gave it more time than I should have, but when I was on with it the results are just magical. But the days I was off with it were just too penal. Otoh, the F8 was almost as long and certainly consistently longer but most importantly on my off days it was nowhere near as penal as my F8+. For many of us there is always that balance between too much and too little spin, and for me the F8 was closer to ideal than the F8+. Fwiw, I am a smooth swinging 100mph driver.

... Question for you though, how different is the EFBlue and Black? I love the EFBlue but only hit the Black at the Show and am wondering would it reduce spin by enough to make a difference, especially since I do not need a lower flight.

I just ordered an F8+ with an Aldila Rogue Silver 70 stiff (fitter recommended)...have the same shaft in my 3 wood. Excited to see the results. I only hit a few stock drivers in a local store bay, Cobra felt better than Cally Rogue to me. Zero cost shaft upgrade.

Son just got fitted and went with the F8+ as well but with an Extra Stiff Project X Hzrdus Yellow 65 Handcrafted - he was getting ball speeds of 160-170...I'd love to be young again! His fitting was with a Rogue head, has not hit the ordered combo yet.

Both of our drivers will be in next week.

I am new to Cobra, never really followed them - but after reading alot of review and posts here - they are the real deal, kind of a diamond in the rough as everyone else talks about Callaway Rogue.

The difference is definitely noticeable, but not drastic ... slightly lower launch and spin as you'd expect. There's more difference between the heads. What I notice between the shafts is stability v. kick. The Black seems to like a hard fade swing, and the Blue seems to like a patient draw swing. I've found that the Black somewhat neutralizes the F8's draw bias, and the Blue somewhat neutralizes the F8+'s fade bias. My average yardages and dispersion with both clubs is close, with slight edge to the F8 Black combo, but my longest drives have been with the F8+ Blue combo.

Our swing speeds are very close, but my tempo is moderate, so probably a bit quicker than your smooth tempo. Based on tempo alone, I bet you're better off sticking with the Blue.

I hope this is helpful, but please don't put too much stock in my opinion because I'm only a 15-cap, and wild shots off the tee are the main reason.
