I'm beginning to think that this Ryder Cup was almost cursed because of the actions of Phil Mickelson in the US Open. Here is a guy totally disrespecting the game of golf, and then expecting the play well in one of the biggest venues of the year. Call it karma, or whatever, Phil was a bad choice for the US team.

Go on... This should be interesting. Go on, Mikey.

Is there a web.com team match play event?

I enjoy watching team golf. I enjoy watching the Euros play in the Ryder Cup because, somehow, they've figured out how to do this.

I don't know what it is and I don't know if anyone truly knows.

One thing though. The success of these players, both in the RC and here in the states has increased my watching of European Tour golf.

I really think it would help our guys if we played some Euro events. I don't understand why nobody here plays Wentworth.

Why does anybody at that level do or not do anything? $$$$

Na is the only one that I could see out of that group doing well this year.

Oops, my reply was supposed to be tacked onto this:

American players who may have been better suited to the course:

- Zach Johnson

- Brandt Snedeker

- Matt Kuchar

- Kevin Kisner

Look here’s the thing. Tiger and Phil both suck in the Ryder Cup. That’s it. They have both deserved to be there every time they were but they are just flat out terrible.

You can basically boil down all of America’s loses in the last 10-14 years on the two best players in Golf over the past 15 years are just flat out mediocre in the Ryder Cup.

Tiger 13-21-3. He’s arguably the best golfer of all time. His record is pitiful. Switch around those wins and loses, He should at least be 21-13-3.

Phil is 18-22-7. Not as terrible but still. He should be a lot better.

They are combined. 31-43-10. 84 matches and only 31 wins. If they had 50 wins, America would have won a lot more Ryder Cups.

TLDR: Tiger and Phil suck at the Ryder Cup.

Jack Nicklaus 16-8-3

Arnold Palmer 22-7-3

Tiger Woods 13-21-3 LOL

Isn't "If land" a wonderful place?

Phil was 6-3-2 in his first 3 Ryder Cups and it took the miracle at Brookline for the US to not have lost all 3 of them.

Phil shouldn't have been anywhere near teeing it up at this Ryder Cup, but 1 player does not a team make.

I will say, have begun to soften on/like more of the US players, actually most of them. I still struggle a bit with Reed and Spieth.

Furyk made some poor decisions, but the guys needed to play better golf.

LOL, but had no resume that justified even a discussion about him being picked for this team. You guys enjoy that victory and quit trying to tease us into more bad Captain's picks!

Yes. That is why I mentioned him a couple times now. He's had some decent results this year at other events too.

I know golf is different than other sports, you're not picking a long reliever or an extra defensive midfielder for the last 15mins of a match. You are picking 12 homerun hitters/closers or 12 strikers. But why not one proper wild card.

LOLOLOL!!! Fortunately there was no teasing required: pick Phil! Done.

Oh, that was easy? ;)

Seeing rory and then molinari run out of nowhere to champagne shower their teammates is the most Ive laughed at anything golf related in a long time. What a joy to see these brothers celebrate a dominant victory and great performance. Fran is way more rascal style than many of us thought, this guy is my type of hilarious

One problem. Suri is not an official member of the PGA Tour and therefore is ineligible for selection to the USA RC team.

Anyway to for Furyk to even consider picking Suri would have been mind boggling.

Suri would have had to go 3-0-1 to be the difference and that wasn’t happening. Won’t rule him out next time though. Making great progress with iteachgolf.

Yep, you were right about Garcia. He more than justified his pick, and silenced the naysayers (and I was one of them).

I think his Ryder Cup record will stand for a long time, especially as he's likely to add to it.

I wonder if a captain would ever have the balls to pick somebody based on the type of course they're playing? Like instead of picking 4 guys that are up there in points, pick somebody who fits the course. What if Furyk picked Brian Gay and Russell Henley? Would have been pretty interesting, and funny.

The last time the US won in Europe the Captain picked two of his friends that were 51 and 43 years old. They finished #22 and #32 in the Ryder Cup standings. Ray Floyd and Lanny Wadkins went a combined 5-2-1 for Captain Tom Watson.

If Furyk wanted him, the powers that be could have made it happen. This isn't the 1980s or before where you had to take sweater folding classes and be a real PGA pro.

Or Julian could have played a little better in the Web.com playoffs...

I'm happy for Sergio. He had two good weeks all year, (golfwise) but he made sure one of them was Ryder Cup week.

Has it really gotten to the point we are discussing Julien Suri a non PGA Tour or Euro tour member as a potential difference maker ? The US simply got outplayed again, nothing more.

I doubted Garcia's pick. But he proved me wrong.

However, I still believe Cabrera-Bello deserved a pick this year.
