Sponsors more than likely thought TW & PM match up would be similar to Wonderful World of Golf days when two top-notch pros competed for I believe 10k.

For many reasons I enjoyed those shows but NO interest in watching TW & PM, least of all for $20. The only people that come out ahead in that match-up are TW & PM. Should be interesting when the ratings come up and show reviews. :lol: :beach:

Do viewers "come out ahead" when tour players win tournaments or majors with prize pools in the millions? It's $20 bones... we are golfers who spend stupid $ to chase a white ball around some greenspace... This is hilarious! $20? "Come'on Man!"

 

If they watched the tourrnament for free, yes. Sponsors paid the freight. Your statement reminds me of people that lease because they never saved to buy or tip heavy even though they don't make enough money to merit excessive tipping.

I am not a club ho and don't buy just because I can afford to buy what I want. That's in part why people don't have savings or win the lotto and broke five years later. Plus, that $20 equates to 4-5 pay-per-view movies for the family. :beach:

I could care less what Phil and Tiger do, but if it's on the national channels, I'll watch a bit. I only subscribe to limited cable, really don't watch much TV. I'd think more of those two, if the winner donated the cash to charity.

PPV = No Commercials. No censoring of trash talk. It's Vegas, so could be some T&A, involved..

 

I can picture them both hiring naked ladies to prance around during meaningful shots... Imagine though, how many would be cursing themselves for now shelling out the monstrous $20 fee..

From Phil’s interview I’d assume no limits. He referenced possible side bet scenarios where one or the other have slippery downhill putts. He said he’d bet 100K that tiger missed it. The object of that would be to try to get tiger to blow it by the hole and make bogey . An attempt to win the bigger picture Match by possibly loosing a couple hundred thousand on side bets.

They have been promoting through social media and the HBO, specials. I will certainly be watching, since I've got snow outside and can't golf.. lol

 

What puzzles me is this talk about how some would watch if they were donating it all to charity, using their own $, etc... Yet, they watch other sporting events UFC, Wrasslin, Boxing, which cost a small fortune.

I have no issues paying $20, to watch the 2 greatest golfers of my generation and the modern game, go at it with some gambling involved.. Should be entertaining.

i would honestly pay $20, to get rid of the commercials anyway, so this is a win-win.

Its all kind of strange. The course is closed to the public. No one can watch on site. The only way to see the match is to pay the $19.99 fee to watch on PPV. I'll just read about it the day after.

 

My son played Shadow Creek last week. He sent lots of pictures via text and Instagram. The course is absolutely gorgeous. Some of the coolest looking holes I've ever seen. I won't even tell you who's locker he got to use!!
