Why I hate my pxg clubs

OP I know how you feel.

It’s why I ultimately divorced my supermodel ex wife. I just got tired of the “how did you land her?” comments...

PXG's are assuredly way cheaper than your supermodel ex-wife. I just gotta believe that's true.

They're way cheaper than any of my wives and none of them were super models.

I cannot tell Bob Parsons how to run his business, but discounting Gen 1 to $155 an iron is giving the haters and chief opposers an opportunity to own them. I am seriously considering going with the Gen 2.

the thread should be renamed "Why i hate having money".

Seriously this post makes you come off as being pompous. I am seriously considering buying the Gen 2's because the Gen 1's are now discounted... LMAO. I guess it makes sense not to have the same clubs as all the peasants right lol

2019 is around corner and I am putting my Scotty away and will put my new operator to work. I must admit this forum keeps juicing me up to keep adding PXG to my bag. What's next? Maybe a staff bag and Gen 2's. For all those complaining about my gripe with the Gen 1 price reduction I have every right as it hurts my resale value. Well with that being said I guess I have to keep them.

If that extra $$ lowers your putts per round good for you but I'd be surprised if you get better results than you would with another mallet from Ping, Odyssey, TM etc. See, if I see anybody with a full set up plus staff bag and you aren't very near scratch or better, I'm automatically going to assume you're a power/overcompensating for something. Has nothing to do with PXG it just demonstrates that you're all about the show. Both of my friends that have played tours and are + have random mixed bags and would never touch a set up like that. I'm sure Parsons is thanking you for your service though :taunt:

Uh, thats precisely why i've considered a set now that I can in theory afford it. Talk about a statement making no sense.

Makes perfect sense if you ook at it from the perspective of the well off guy who wants the status symbol. He doesn’t want you to have them. He just wants you to want them. Parsons is pulling the ultimate devil with the pitch fork move and drilling everyone who paid full price in the rear by allowing people to buy the gen 1 overstock so cheap. Hilarious if you ask me.

why not play with iron covers and only remove them when you are ready to hit? I did it during during the early 70's playing with friends, I was actual ashamed with expensive / latest titest clubs after a birthday when dad bought me the AC 100's

I do not care for mixed bags. LMAO, let me guess when you show up to course you have to be matchy matchy and only have one brand of clothing. And when you are playing bad you let everyone know this was your "worst round of the year". You are not a sandbagger you have a vanity handicap. Dude nobody really gives a s*** what you wear, the staff bag you have or the irons you play. Be nice to others in foursome, say nice shot , thank you. High five a birdie or fist pump, drink a few beers maybe a cigar and enjoy the time you spend with friends and competing. Maybe win a few bucks. Get over the narcissism. Not trying to be mean but would bet you don't enjoy the game as much as you should either. Just a guess I might have failed my amateur psychology synopsis.

I am guessing that is more an aesthetic thing than a performance thing because no manufacturer makes the best performing everything. So the reality to me is, if aesthetics are more important than performance for someone, it's all good by me.

I have my own selective OCD to feed and worry about, so I don't have time to even think about someone else's..lol!

This must be spot on. I too had a full matching Titleist bag. I then started going for fittings and realized that stepping outside of that box allows the equipment to start helping you much more. It really doesn't even matter what he shoots. If someone wants to have a $5000 bag and still shoot in the 90s that's their business. As you mentioned, golf is about getting away from the day to day, spending time outdoors and with friends, having some drinks, and improving a skill. I just think that leaving the narcissism out allows for a much more enjoyable experience.

On Sept. 12, 2017, on the eve of TaylorMade's launch of their P790 irons, Parsons Xtreme Golf filed suit in federal court in Arizona against their competitor, alleging the California-based company of infringing on a variety of PXG patents related to the design of their hollow-body irons.

More than a year later, that suit remains ongoing. The P790 irons launched, and they've sold very well. TaylorMade has introduced a version of the irons with a black coating, and they've introduced the P790 Ultimate Driving Iron. PXG's effort to halt the P790's sale at retail was unsuccessful, not only in suing TaylorMade but also in suing Dick's Sporting Goods and Worldwide Golf Shops to bar them from selling the irons to consumers.

We don’t want to get into the patent suit between the 2 club manufacturers but we would like to address what this is doing to the retailers. The big box retailers are the bread and butter of where the majority of golfers get their equipment. They sell more equipment to consumers than the club companies do directly as well as pro-shops all around the country. Suing them could be very detrimental to the game of golf. Thanks to All Mighty himself

Golf is already a struggling with participation. We all know that rounds are down and we just saw Titleist second quarter numbers showing us that they are losing money. It isn’t like the game is healthy so suing the big box sales locations for anything more than stopping them from selling the irons in question could be catastrophic for the game.

These are so well known facts that are spot on as these are not my words but what exactly has PXG done for the golfing world, Everybody wants to be sue happy and for someone who has as much money as Bob has is a reason why so many people hate on PXG. Greed is all I see with this country and till the law suit is over with with which Bob is not going to win expect the Gen 3's to be an astronomical price jump over the Gen 2's.

Yes it's no one else business what people spend their money on when trying to enjoy the great game of golf but this great game has been on a down ward spiral as there has been no other golf company cause as much controversy as PXG.

They can't touch the retailers. It's just a maneuver to stop Taylormade from selling these irons until the suit is settled. It will end up being settled between Taylormade and PXG. That being said, you could take lots of irons from different manufacturers and find similarities. I can't imagine PXG has a case.

Well it seems the assault on PXG has taken it's toll. Now they motto has changed from that we have made the best irons to " We believe our Gen 2 are the most amazing irons ever made". It amazes how the onslaught has affected Pxg advertising and marketing.

Eh? I guess a new tin foil hat wasn't under the tree.

If they say "our irons are the most amazing ever" then logically people will go - well great I'll have those reasonably priced Gen 1 irons then please. You know since everything is equally amazing, why go with overpriced Gen 2 models.

Really it applies to any new v old comparison: my 2nd wife is the most amazing woman ever - or - all my wives have been the most amazing women ever... pretty clear no?

No doubt one of the best irons I have hit and the iron of choice 0311 4-PW with steel fiber stiff shafts 2018. What I hate about them? Everywhere I play, the same response. You must have plenty of money, what do you do for a living? It is beyond irritating! It has become a thorn in my side. Whatever the notion is out there, these clubs are affordable if you want them. I just want to play golf when I hit the course!

Just be honest and admit that you got them from AliExpress...

With all respect my friend your remarks are very disrespectful. When I look up AliExpress it is crawling with counterfeit products. If your preference is to buy knock off clubs and it makes you macho go ahead my friend and be a pretender. The day I have to resort to putting counterfeits in my bag it is time for me to quit the game.

Agreed 100%

IIRC, I had TM "ICW" irons back in the early 1990s, a blade look with some internal foam, https://valueguide.pga.com/library/430/iron-set/taylormade/icw-11/

I think you are under the impression that everybody wants these irons but only a few can afford them. I don't think that's the case.
