PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

The Gen 3 XP don't have a crazy thick sole like some SGI irons, but the sole does have some meat to it. Bending them 2 degrees weak is going to increase the bounce and possibly make the sole play "thicker". If you hit a lot of shots fat, then this could possibly help. But if your miss is thin, then increasing the bounce could prove to be a bad idea.

As for spin, I know PXG's own documentation shows the Gen 3 irons to spin slightly less than the gen2. When I was fit for my 0211s, my spin with the 0211s was marginally higher than the 0311P's. Your mileage may very, but to me I am assuming the Gen3s will probably spin a few hundred rpm less than my 0211s if PXG's documentation is an accurate reflection of performance.

Mine came yesterday. Courses near me are closed so I am limited to hitting AlmostGolf practice balls in yard. I will say this much, they look GREAT at address and I hit the ball straight. The reduced offset in the scoring clubs suits me great. Ordered the 5-SW so time will tell if the entire set performs as well as the PW I was knocking around today.

After spending two days go through the whole thread, I am ready to pull the trigger on the 0211 set. They seems like a very good buy at this price. I was looking at Mizuno HMB at first, but even with used they are still more expensive than customize 0211. Now I had one question need help from you all. I am currently gaming the Titleist 716 AP1 XP90 Rflex when I started golf 4 years ago. I don't know my iron swing speed, but my driver swing speed is around 100 and ball speed around 150. I am debating between the stiff Elevate 95g(which close to the shaft weight I am currently gaming) and the stiff Elevate Tour(which 20g heavier). I am still a newbie in terms of golf equipment, can you guys help me explain a little bit more what should I expect if I order the heavier shaft(Elevate)? Thanks

PXG discussions are always amusing. Here are a couple of thoughts or maybe myths to ponder?:

Would more show up in our bags if more were played on the PGA (vs. LPGA where they are more common) ?Not commonly available at large retailers to demo... most fittings are at higher end courses.Cast iron stigma regardless of how good they "feel" and how many tungsten screws they display? How many or us have actually hit them and evaluated not just for feel but dispersion and performance? Out of sight, out of mind?Is the price point really that much higher when compared to pure forged clubs like Miura which can also be argued as high end brand designed for the "better" ball striker. And of course... "Nothing feels like a Mizuno" LOL

When I was fitted for my Gen 2’s, I tried the 0211’s out. I was not a fan. They were too clicky and too short for me.

How do these iron heads perform in windy conditions for everyone? I play z565 s300 now and my only knock on them is the short irons are a bit spinny for me and some shots get eaten up in wind (a lot has to do with my strike)

I would assume this style of head is designed to spin less but never hit any. I'm thinking about going with the 0211 in the DG 120 because I have been wanting to go with a lighter shaft.

Would you guys recommend these for a high ball hitter who wants a bit less spin?

I suspect you will need to carefully select the shafts; I played 565s for a couple seasons and the 585s for less than a month. For me the Srixon ‘65s and 85s were about as low spinning head as I’ve played—that was my biggest issue with them. I’ve been playing my 0211s for the past few weeks and I’m seeing more spin and stopping power, which I need, than wither of the Srixons. I played Nippon Modus 105s in the Srixons and am playing the Elevate Tours in my 0211s—for sure the Elevate Tours give me a higher ball flight.

Interesting how everyone "feels" something different. I actually felt the 0211's were very similar in feel if not even a touch softer than the Gen 2 0311Ps. And I stated earlier in this thread, the performance was so close between the 2 there was not reason for me to pay 3x as much for the 0311's which were still $325 each at the time. If the Gen 2 0311s would have been $159 per at my fitting I may have gone that route because I love the look of them. But like I said performance wise, there was not much difference at all.

I tried both the T200 and T300 at a fitting at Club Champion and really did not care for either of them. My shots would spin up on both of them losing distance. Had the exact same problem with AP1 irons I had. Feel wise not even close, the 0211 have a better sound/feel in my opinion and my distances are comparable to my Apex 19 irons with more forgiveness.

After my fitting at Club Champion I was going to get some Cobra Forged Tec irons (the latest ones) based on performance and they felt/sounded really good to me. However Cobra was back ordered on left handed heads when I was ready to buy and then the PXG sale came along and I could get them even cheaper than the Cobra irons.

Anyone compared 0211’s against Mizuno JPX 919 Forged? I know lofts are a little different.

I was fit for 0211’s and getting ready to pull the trigger, but the Mizuno feel is pretty special too.

Pondering 0211s with Steelfiber i95s.

I believe the 0211s are .370 - does anyone know if the i95s they are installing are taper or parallel? I know I fit into the i95 taper.

NEVER MIND: On PXG site, when going through the "Buy" selections, it lists the shaft as i95 cw - so it is the tapered version.

Another question.I tend to like narrowish soles with leading edge relief (e.g., AP2 and T100). I am relatively shallow - take small to medium divot. For folks that have these, and, like a similar type sole to me, what are your experiences? Does the 0211 sole work for them?

Can't see these in person right now because stores are closed, but, from online images, they appear about like the Ping i210 soles.

Two extremely different irons. Players iron (919F) vs a Players Distance/Game Improvement iron (0211). If you like the 919 Forged, I think the Gen 2 0311T discounted would be worth a long hard look.

Fun Fact: All PXG heads are .370, they use a proprietary hosel sleeve/shim during the build so they can use taper or parallel shafts ?
