What are the chances that another player reaches the Tiger 2000 level in our lifetimes?

Perkins is a private establishment so I guess technically not.

This is literally what people have always said in the world of golf, and they always end up being wrong.

80+ wins and 15+ majors? Probably not, but Brooks has torn away the idea that fields are “too deep” for one player to dominate in majors in our current era, and Brooks isn’t even the next superstar player IMO.

There’s going to be another great player in the same league as Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods.

I have to agree/ Someone with talent might come along later but, TW also hit the gap when the old guards were retiring ( tired ) and no new talent in his peer could step up just yet. Ever since the TW wave, more kids were interested in the "Oldman's Sport" more athletes whom could have gone into other professional sports had found the PGA is attractive. In other words, competition is tougher these days.

I'll take someone better then TW, smarter then him to dominate the game like TW did. Just like he did to the Bear and the King, as the they did to the Hawk and Bobby Jones.................

I'm not saying forever, but , it'll not be easy.

All that young talent.

And 43 year old, back fused, Tiger beats them all, including the most dominant current player at the height of his game to win the Masters.

Imagine what this guy would do to them?

TW 1.0 used to do that week in week out.

He send these guys home cryin ; )

And there will be another Jack/Tiger at some point. One with the skills, both physical and mental, and desire to win week in and week out.

This is my point exactly... but there's never going to be another Tiger.. What will happen is there will three - four Tigers come up. **No one will dominate the way Tiger did.**

It’s not happening.

Tiger is a complete freak. The career that he had in the span of 13 years -1996 to 2009 - was and is without compare. Could someone get up to a similar amount of majors? Possibly. Will they do it in the space of time that Tiger achieved it in? Absolutely no chance, no chance at all.

Jordan, Rory, and BK have shown us 2-3 yr glimpses of greatness but Tiger did it for 11 yrs. And 2000 along with Ben Hogan's 1953 are the 2 greatest years in golf history. Tiger 2000 being #1.

Chances are there will be a dominant talent golfer again, but I don’t think anyone will do what Tiger did in 2000. No one before ever did.

I don't see it happening. First off, I think we've maybe got another 20 years of golfing, 30 at tops, with the way we're spewing CO2 into the environment. Second, the difference between Tiger and all the others who never got near his level of greatness is what's between his two ears. He and Jack wanted to win, and would give every fiber of their being to win.

A lot of these guys in the modern era don't either seem to care, or just don't want to win near as bad as Tiger did. They get a few wins, get comfortable, realize that all that extra fatigue or pain from the extra practice isn't really worth it, because they're comfortable. Meanwhile, Tiger was working out, playing 18, and then hitting the range for 4-5 hours. Tiger was the perfect storm of a father mentoring his son to be the best and it actually working out. I don't see anyone coming up or currently playing who has the same mental strength that Tiger had back in his prime.

Rory had the game, but not the mental strength. DJ and Brooks are both insane players, but neither really care about "regular" events. Spieth, well, he's not even in the top 20 anymore.

Always makes me laugh when people say fields are deeper now than in 2000, well Tiger basically only had 4 or 5 guys to beat on a regular basis back in 2000, in majors anyway.

Actually count the number of multiple major winners on tour now under the age of 45, apart from Tiger, its actually only 3 that i can think of, Keopka, Rory (hasn't won a major for 5 years!) and Spieth

Tiger in his prime would still win just as many majors, maybe not as many regular tour events, but majors definitely.

wow, only 20-30 years you say? well heck, might as well abandon the tour then and have recycling events instead. instead of forums we could all gather round the fake fire (no CO2) and sing koombya as long as we don't sing loud enough to make noise pollution.

lol oh my.. smh.

THREE Tigers? lol

BK, Rory, Spieth, all had/having great runs but none would put themselves in the same league as TW. None have his 1.0 game and they know it.

But then we gonna get 3 Tigers who can do this week in and week out for 10 years? I'm looking forward to it ; )

Came here to say the same thing. A convenient fact that gets left out. He had only won 2 majors to that point. Which is quite good, but the hype, etc, was off the charts("He could win more than Arnie and me Combined"-Nicklaus.)

Woods played some great golf that year, but let's not kid ourselves. It wasn't his play that was leaps and bounds better than anyone else.
