Absolute filth! Can hardly believe that was over 2 years ago now. I remember sitting watching it the next day with a major hangover after the home leg of my stag do and scarcely believing how good his round that day was.

Kinda matter of opinion, no? RORS driver ,when on shrinks courses....no matter impressive play by JT

...sort of like how the hole appears to shrink whenever Rory putts.

Glad to see JT playing well and getting over his injury, was a bit interesting to follow as others have never recovered from wrist issues.

That was before the BMW started. Taking into account the first 3 rounds of the BMW a GC screenshot from tonight when Lavner/Notah/DD were on early evening stated that Tiger needs a T6 or better to make it to Eastlake. Of course Notah also said tonight Tiger never had the go low gear in his game. Hmm. TW has 9 rounds of 62 or lower on the PGA Tour. Oops.

Thanks. I didn't realize the math had changed, but I guess it's not surprising. I was thinking Tiger would need to get to minus 12, but he may need more than that with these soft conditions.

since jt's had more low scores, i'd suggest it is not opinion ... rory's 'on' largely involves splitting fairways with 350 yd drives, but he's shown time and again he can't necessarily take advantage of those drives with any kind of superior wedge play ... or putting ... his "A" game is his driver ... JT's irons yesterday were fabulous, every one of them just about ...

Thanks! Now it makes a bit more sense now (but still looks like Vegas imho)

That is interesting, but it's also a great example of a stat that doesn't tell the whole story. What was par? What was the rest of the field doing? You'd have to go through and pull that info for every round before drawing a conclusion that JT's A game is the best on the planet or whatever.

62 on a par 70 isn't as good as 63 on a par 72. Likewise, 62 on a day when the field averages 69 isn't as good as a 64 on a day when the field averages 73.

And why cut it off at 62? What does it look like if you use 63 instead? What if (just making up some numbers here) someone else has 50 rounds at 63 or better but only 4 at 62 or better, while JT only has 25 rounds at 63 or better, despite having 7 at 62 or better? Or what if you use 61 or 60 as the cut off? Maybe one of the guys with 4 rounds at "62 or better" has nothing but 59s and 60s while all 7 of JT's "62 or better" rounds are 61s and 62s? On and on.

Wow - the guy just set the course record. At Medinah. That's something.

And he's got that stat of scores under 62 that no one else has.

If you want to dig further, then you can go ahead and do it. As you pointed out, "on and on" and none of those variations of the stats is going to prove absolutely that JT's A game is the best on the planet. And Sky Sports never said that, they just pointed out a stat that makes you go "hmmm..... JT is pretty good, isn't he". In the revolving door of guys who've reached world number 1 in the post-Tiger era, he's got that unique stat. Which is pretty good.

Not talking about what he did in his younger days when he could actually putt well on a consistent basis. He's an average putter now, at best. He looks stiff and uncomfortable over the ball....like he knows he's gonna miss. Of course, like anyone who plays golf knows, they'll be days when you can't miss....and he has those too. But he's no longer a consistently good putter. Combine that with a ho-hum wedge game, and you have what you see.

Omg how does the crowd not stop Tiger's ball there? Do your job.

And then whoever's stuff that is against the tree, I think bouncing off that made the lie worse. If that stuff wasn't there the ball may have gone clear past the tree. Get your stuff off the course people! Go back to your shanties!

Edit: Tiger hit a great pitch to 4 feet and made birdie so all is forgiven, for now.
