Any new TM drivers in the works?

M5 was the best looking/sounding/feeling driver this year IMO. Great shape and that matte carbon was awesome. Can't wait to see pics of the address position of the new one.

My comment of maybe was directed back to Money regarding loft.

Pictures of the driver are making the rounds with the sales reps who just got back from the sales meeting.

After several different kinds of drivers and being fit properly for my M5 it would be hard though to see a new driver come out and the up charge for the right shaft raise that driver over 700, that’s a lot to pay for a club. I’m pretty sure heads are not targeted towards any particular player, pga or senior, but after playing in a recent tour champions event, a lot of G 400 Max’s out there, and in last few days played with some golfers in their 60’s such as myself, all packing the G400 Max. Maybe their are drivers for older vs younger, I don’t know, and guys I just wanted to type my thoughts here, if I get back lash, fine but I want the best works for me and if helps TaylorMade to hear this stuff and think more, win win, but these guys, late 60’s, hitting 4 wood on par 3 me 5 iron, so you would expect after a drive I’m hitting last from fairway! I was shocked how far these 400’s we’re getting out there, and I’ve had one, guess had wrong shaft, but what’s put into that club, is there something TM could use?

Driver A will be lower spin than Driver B based on placement of weight track.

I realize that TM isn’t ready for an official roll out but the TM rep was at my club yesterday with the new goods. Unfortunately for me I missed it by 15 minutes. Seems there’s a disconnect with internet “leaks” being heavily policed while the new clubs are out in the wild.

Question to the group (from a TM fan), what precisely is the goal with TM's 2020 drivers? If the M3/M4 was twistface and optimizing off-center hits (vs. M1/M2), and the M5/M6 was lower spin (vs. M3/M4), are the new drivers focused on better ball speeds off the face (vs. claims that M5/M6 were "slow") or what? Trying to gauge what the evolution is this cycle, or are we seeing slight tweaks sold as a "totally new" driver line with TM moving away from the "M" series? And don't come at me with the "they're all slight tweaks nowadays as COR has been maxed for a while" etc.

Not trying to stir any pots, mostly just biding my time between "sleeps".

It will be just as good as everything else. I was getting basically the same numbers as I currently get with my driver. There are some things I am not completely sold on yet, but I could look past or even eventually like after looking at it a bit more. Namely the color tones. There are some interesting claims and eyebrow raising (as in curious, not bad) designs. It is not light years better than anything but could be slightly better than what you are currently playing..

 

All sounds pretty good to me. I was not blown away. They are going down a similar path that has been walked down more than once before by them and others. Just doing it in a slightly different way.

M5/M6 was not about lower spin. It was about making their heads be as close to the USGA limit as they could get them. Plus, the sweet spot was larger compared to M3/M4, so the heads were faster. All the claims of M5/M6 being slower was surprising to me. I saw a consistent 2-3mph ball speed increase over M3.

I don't have any info on the 2020 line yet, but I'm eagerly anticipating them. I love new driver season.

My best guess is because they've maxed the limit with M5/6 and twist face with M3/4, the next iteration will be about getting the sweet spot as large as possible.

 

With COR maxed out and speed only really increasing by minute amounts, the race with manufacturers will be about getting the sweet spot bigger and bigger, which I wouldn't complain about to be honest
