DeChambeau Up 25 Lbs

I've explained this to a ton of people who don't understand what he's doing. The body needs time to adapt and hold weight/muscle/strength ect... I agree and think in 1-2 years he will be lean with the same muscle and be even faster.

At this point I have to give the guy some kudos. He’s doing what he said he’d do.

He can still be annoying but full respect for his golf skills

can we still call him Shampoo? Maybe ‘full body” formula

ps I can relate better to him in his current physique

I wonder if he'll be a slightly better version of John Daily at the end of his career. Known for long bombs, unique style/personality than most (in a totally different way) and a few notable wins, maybe a major or two. But overall, massive strength needs to be tempered by course management and great short game.

It doesn't help that he doesn't just look like a big dude. He's got a funky build and he looks like a square cartoon character in his current version. (not talking about if he's fat, if it makes sense or anything). Just that I've seen plenty of guys bulk up and they don't look nearly as odd as Bryson does right now.

I’m just happy he doesn’t “seem” to be as slow as he was in the past. It was painful at times how slow he played. So, either he has sped up a bit OR golf channel has stopped showing his pre shot routines. either way i’m happy.

Way back in the day, if there was a player on a Donald Ross design, that could fly the bunkers, I wonder if that player was scolded for “destroying the design of the course”

Oh, and now I see why Bryson does not post videos or talk about his benchpress squats or deadlifts... He doesn’t do them.

He says, in this video in the piece below, he gets “scared” about compound lifts due to injury potential and mentions he does isolation lifts and bodyweight moves.

“But DeChambeau has a different approach to training. The “Mad Scientist” says he favors isolation exercises, rather than compound movements, that train muscles individually. “I feel like by using and training each individual muscle you can aggregate all of them to be able to function at a higher potential rather than just saying, ‘Oh, can I use all of them and see if they all work?’,” DeChambeau says.

In addition to his isolation exercises, DeChambeau says he also incorporates bodyweight movements into his training.“

prob would of happened anyway with that consumption. Plenty of lifters have tried it and got fat.

There is a pretty good fitness YouTuber and when he started he was told have to eat big to get big, was eating huge calories and saying it was healthy foods but in reality he was also eating pizzas and putting olive oil on them to get his calories up which you almost have to do to keep calories that high every day.

He had a pretty good lifting program he was following with compounds but still got really fat, should see the pics. His family told him he was getting fat and so he cut back, lol. Didn’t learn his lesson and thought maybe it was because he didn’t add cardio and tried again with same result.

I suppose I'm a bit confused. Are some people bashing Dechambeau even though he's only been doing this for less than a year? What the hell? If he wins one major, or a few PGA Tour wins, or his girlfriend thinks he's the baddest dude around, well hot diggity I would expect that he would be pretty happy with the results. He just recently said it's about the Majors. Especially the Majors.

His diet is actually relatively clean. And 3000 - 3500 calories is pretty standard for a guy his height and initial weight, who is also very active, to put on primarily lean muscle mass and not have too much excess fat...if...

He did squats deads and bench!

But isolation and bodyweight? That’s like my No gym corona workout, lol. Which I love, btw. I think for golf, it’s excellent as well. But, it’s not really a muscle mass gaining focused workout.

His diet does not match his training and thus, he put on all that fat.

That said, he did say his goal was to gain a lot of weight and hit it farther!

He admitted he doesn’t really know how much he is consuming, who knows if he is even following that diet. To put on weight that fast he’s prob closer to 4,000 cals a day.

i would bet big money he would look the same had he done dead, squats and bench. Don’t be so fast to dis body weight work, look at make gymnasts, great physiques that most bodybuilders will never attain and they don’t do heavy on the big lifts, mainly all body weight stuff.

Im certainly not going to say anything bad about him for wanting to protect his body from injury on the big 3.
