Callaway SUPER!! Hybrid review

They are...but you'd have to shim the shaft as a .335 shaft in a .370 adapter would be way loose. I dont know about the lie/loft change, though.

They are not. They have different outer diameters in addition to having different inner diameters. If you try to use a fairway adapter on a hybrid the cogs will be a smaller diameter than the teeth on the head, and vice versa. This means they won’t seat properly with each other and you will greatly increase the chances of components breaking. While the parts will can physically screw together, they are not designed to function at impact interchangeably.

Ive had a 20* since they first came out but didn’t get along with it first couple months of the year. Started hitting it more like I would a 3 iron and its turned into a tremendous club for me. Flying 230 carry with a mid height, low spin flight. I didn’t find consistency swinging it more like a fairway wood. Hit very high balls that maxed at 215 carry and landed soft. If I can figure out a way to combine those shots into repeatable options with this club its a long time keeper. Too early to know for now. It has serious potential though in the right hands!

I think, based on other’s experiences, that the 17 slots in more as a 3/4 wood, whereas the 20 is more of the 5 wood replacement. Of course, everyone’s experiences and needs are different. I’m hoping that I can turn my 20, when it arrives, up a smidge allowing for a little help consistently hitting a draw.

Exactly what I was thinking with the 17 degree, adjust it up one degree and see if I can get some nice little high fling baby draws that go long enough to drop the 4/5 wood. For reference my 3 wood is 13.5 lofted up to 14.5 and then I play Cally epic 5 wood. I tend to hit my fairway woods and hybrids pretty high. I do think as these are a more a neutral head adding a degree or two will help a lot towards getting that nice draw flight. I typically play a small fade with my fairway woods. I think adding loft won't turn these into hooking machines.

Can you comment on if the head sizes get progressively smaller as the loft increases. I checked the Callaway website but they don not have the head CC size listed. I have the 20 degree but not sure I would want a 23 degree with that large a head size showing that amount of loft.

I think this is *sorta-kinda the same idea that I'm working on. I've got the 9 degree SZ Mavrik, the 15 degree EF fairway, and the 20 degree SH on the way. I am working with the two clubs I have right now set on draw/more loft because at that speed/distance, I'm not all that accurate or consistent and double crosses lead to double bogies. So, I want them to move one way 99% of the time. For the swing I have right now, that is right to left. So, in real loft, I think I'm going to end up with 11/16/21 followed by a 22 degree driving iron. It won't look all that great on paper, but if the gaps work and the shape is pretty much one way only, I'll be a happy camper!

I carry a 5 iron and originally got the 23* and 20* to go between the 5 iron and 3 wood. I hit the 20* so well that I decided to get the 17* to compete with my 3 wood for a spot in the bag, After two range sessions it has impressed me as an option from the tee and it seems to launch high enough off the deck to earn a spot in my bag. I will probably drop the 23* in favor of a four iron if I go that route. I will tweak the lofts if necessary to make them gap correctly. I have never carried three hybrids before but you never know, having options is always good.

I'm playing a KBS 95 X in a 23*(set to 22*). Thats been my go to hybrid shaft for the past 3-4 seasons. I like the transition in weight going into the irons. Messing around with the SH and honestly don't know if it'll really work out for what I want. Unfortunately only got 1 round in with it in the bag before everything got shut down- going to need 3-4 more rounds to figure it out.

I have experience with the shaft but not in my new super. I found it to give me a stout feeling when swinging it. I didn't mind that at first. Was hitting penetrating bullets with it in my 7 wood. But over time I grew to not enjoy that feeling.

Could of been a swing change I made to where I could no longer time my swing with the shaft. Could of been my tinkering with the length that screwed up my club(s) (owed a handful of these shafts) Whatever it was my love for the shaft didn't last and I moved away from it. I would say if u can find one in the bay for a cheap price definitely worth a try.

What has been the ball flight consensus on these? Particularly the 17 degree wirh the Tensei Orange? I am looking to replace my hybrid. Looking for a versatile hybrid that you can use off the tee and deck. There is a 17 in our golf shop. I don’t have much experience with hybrids this big. Curious for feedback to those who have hit this.
