If I remember correctly there is little to no rough at Augusta, I guess all his haters haven't found any video proof of what everyone is describing as "cheating" during his Master's victory.

Everyone will continue to bash him, it will only make him stronger, say or think what you will, this guy has the game and the mind to succeed no matter what is happening around him.

My personal feeling is you will not see or hear of anything happening regarding his misgivings on the course in the future, so the past will have to be continually brought up.

If the PGA tour has done nothing to this point, play on Patrick.

There's plenty of video and witness evidence from other tournaments though. It's hardly a badge of honour that he managed to win a major without cheating (or at least without getting caught).

Golf is the only sport where you call penalties on yourself. Integrity might be the most important part of the game. "Play on Patrick" runs entirely counter to that ethos.

Improving lie is a no go. I practice near the ball but I never put the club right behind the ball to get a sense of the shot. That being said, no one cares about my golf game. But I do regularly see folks do this and worse. How about “preferential lie”?

I, like many around here, appreciate and even support the occasional gross generalization. However, regarding the Bill B. and Patrick R. correlation based on a statement “they both cheat” is basically without foundation and made conditionally to impart your personal feelings about Bill and the Pats.  In other words, your opinion about Bill B. as a cheater has more to do with your dislike of a football team than a blatant rules violation by Patrick R. in golf. I am not a NE Pats fan, but I am a fan of great leaders. Your comment about Bill and Patrick being similar “as both cheaters” is without fact and/or merit.

There's an obvious difference in how Reed cheats and other guys "bend the rules". Try to defend Reed all you want but he takes it so much further than any other player we know of, hence the backlash and hate which is well earned in this case. I compare it to the sign-stealing issue in baseball right now. Every team tries to steal the pitchers signs while on the bases, or watching for certain clues, but nobody took it anywhere near as far as the Astros in terms of using technology, buzzers, trash cans, etc to try to gain an advantage.

He’s arguably the greatest coach ever. But inarguably it is a proven fact that his team has been caught cheating. So it’s a pretty fair comparison.
