52 degree wedge. I use my 52 degree wedge for all shots from 30-115 yards.

So much factors to weigh in here.

Soft/hard greensWindTemperatureWet/dry turfMy swing that dayUsually I use a full 56 for this shot, to stop it fast on firmer greens. When the greens are soft and I don’t want 20ft of backspin, I use my 52 or PW to reduce the spin and keep a lower trajectory.

Also, when my back is stiff or on really cold days I’m more comfortable using more club. On the other hand, on a hot summer day I can probably get my 60 to fly 110 yds.

my guessing the OP means playing at 100-110 yrds with everything factored in.

My club choice for 100-110 yard shot depends on conditions such as weather conditions, pin position, green undulations, nearby obstacles, and receptiveness of greens. My 58* = to 85yds, 52* = 75-105yds, 47* PW = 80-118yds, and 43* 9 iron = 115-125yds. I never think, one club one yardage. I think conditions then cover yardage.

If I am hot, a full wack with a 56. Normally though a 50. If not my day I might punch it with a 3 hybrid and see where it ends up.. ?

Not enough information. Where's the pin? Is short better than long or is long better than short? Does the green slope towards me or away? Is there an elevation change? Wind? Relative humidity? Dew point? Is Saturn in retrograde? What time zone am I in?

I can't be expected to make such a decision without all the pertinent information.

Plenty of different and good strategies throughout this thread... I really want to get better at sticking them close from under 120. I hit my PW around 150 and don't hit any of my lower wedges full most of the time... I really need to work on consistent distance in this range. It's #2 on my list for this season after learning how to putt.

Mastering a consistent half shot is a challenge for me and finding the balance between swinging "hard" and "soft" has always been tough... If I back off too much, I lose control of my club head, and stepping on a shot ends up with me hitting it too hard (And usually off target). Really need to get comfortable with a half swing.

I'm planning on changing wedges this season, and hope a different loft profile might help me change my overall approach.

You and I have the same distances basically but I do not carry a 52 only 47 PW and 56 SW. I flight mine down a lot and also hit a high cut 9 iron too. And we carry the same lofts on the respective clubs you mentioned. I guess all us old school guys think alike because I also think conditions then yardage and pull my weapon

Assuming a normal-ish lie from fairway/rough, either a 56 or 51. Comfortable full 56 is ~103, so most of this range would be some portion of a 51. Full 51 goes 120, but I hit tons of partial shots with it. I wouldn't try to crush the shorter club unless there I really need to stop it quickly or it is a back pin where long is no bueno.

Depending on how I'm feeling swing wise that day, could be a knock down 50 (which is more like 100-105), or an easy PW (110-120, not as good at controlling this one). Also depends on if I want to miss short or long. If miss long, PW, short 50. If I really want to fly it I swing a 3/4 56, which is a rare situation. If there's a tall tree between me and the flag I might try a 60 degree all out or just pitch it sideways lol.

My Gap Wedge is about 90 yards and my Pitching Wedge 115, so I'd grip down an inch on the PW.

That's an issue I struggle with every winter, and this year I've tried to pay particular attention. It seems like the percentage distance loss on the short irons/wedges is a lot smaller than on the mid irons and woods.

On a stock shot I use my 53* (AP1 718) - full swing. Depending on wind, pin location, ball position relative to feet, I may use something else accordingly.
