That's if you're hitting 72 iron shots per round :/

You hit one approach per hole (technically) and half of those will be wedges and short irons. There's no difference between a bladed 9 I and a cavity 9i for anyone who's a single digit handicap or better.

It only makes a difference in long iron play. I have put an Iblade 4i in the bag and that's all that is needed. Again this is personal preference, it won't work for everyone. But for me it has worked better than cbs. Every career low I have ever shot is with blades. My first round out with the new set was 72. last round with the CB's was 90. that's all the proof I need.

The other point that many are missing is that most mid caps are missing more greens than they hit. So they can truly say they score just as well because they still miss greens and play with their short game and get up and down-or not.

I never knew the debate was this bad. Maybe I never saw previous locked threads because... well, its locked.

Having both MB set and a CB set, I like them both equally for different reasons.

I dont know if I ever pick a favorite one, because you know... well... they are both good for different reasons.

Beginning of each season, I spend more time with my CB set... Its easy going but a little dull.

Middle of each season, I talk to the MB set more. Its more easy on the eyes but can be very temperamental.

I have great time with both of them each year.

I hope everyone will do more of an open relationship with both.

I like what I like. I have my reasons based on preferences and my own experience. I don't have access to all the equipment with shaft options, launch monitors, custom grinds, etc so I make my choices based on past experience. Hopefully I make the right choice. Unless Kevin Na is supplying my equipment I really don't care what he thinks. His opinion, as correct as it might be (or not), is his opinion which does little good for my selection. Just my 2 cents.

I'm hardly in the aged bracket yet, but I've come to the conclusion I want all the necessary help I can get when it comes to golf. Never, ever do I want to blame my clubs for a mishit that turns out severely penal. If I miss with my clubs, it was MY fault! Still a 3 and trending downward, mind you...

Can't believe this is debated so much. I don't care much for blades but if it suits someone's eye or they like playing them then all the power to them! It all comes down to what YOU, the person actually swinging the golf club likes. Why on earth would anyone agree with "you can't play those irons because a XYZ PGA tour player doesn't like blades" is beyond me. Play what you like.

For a lot of players out there, playing a CB or GI iron means they will hit it close more often. Therefore, leaving more make-able putts. Yes a hot putter can be a weapon, but hitting it close and leaving yourself more make-able putts can usually demoralize an opponent as the round goes on. Because they feel like they are working way harder to get the same score you are getting. Where this may differ, is when talking about "Club Championships", where good putters have played there so long, they just know all the breaks and green subtleties. But in general, if you are an average putter, then IMO you should be using every advantage to hit the ball closer.

Whether or not the article is there or not, the result of the test is anecdotal. Using an Iron Byron always is. Because humans......even PGA tour players cannot replicate their swing every single time. And even with an Iron Byron, if a test is not set up the same every time, the data is flawed. And there are no universal test parameters. When OEM's use a swing robot to "verify" something, do you honestly believe that they do not do anything different to trend to the results they want?

It's probably been mentioned earlier, but I think there is a significant effect to the appearance factor. Some guys are really detered by small blade lengths and thin top lines. Others are bothered by chunky soles and offset. Being happy with the appearance equals comfort, and comfort equals confidence (that and history of success; but comfort plays into that as well), and confidence plays a huge role in success in all aspects of life. It's the same reason I putt worse with a high MOI mallet putter vs an anser or even an 8802. It doesn't pass the appearance test, therefore I'm not comfortable and subconsciously am not at my best/most focused, etc.

You could meet a woman who's a perfect fit for you and would make the most amazing wife, but if she doesn't pass the appearance test (for you), then you'll never get comfortable, therefore not confident in introducing her into your life (especially meeting your friends/family, taking her out in public, etc.), and therefore it won't work out.

I'm not saying this is the most important factor, as I've fallen in love with some clubs looks and couldn't hit them for crap, but I do think it plays a role.

Yea if they were fit with the same specs and shafts I'm sure I would shoot roughly the same score. AND THAT WAS EXACTLY MY POINT BEFRE . It makes no difference in score you just said what I've been saying all along. The difference between a player's cb and blades (up until the longer irons) is very minimal.

The longer the course the better! I wanna see those butter-cut-faded long irons sizzle off those precision knives...cough...cough....

Seriously though, I do cap my course yardage around 7400y, anything more is foolish. With a blade, I'd be lucky to shoot anything close sub 7k.
