It’s interesting that heads for the ZX7 are made in Japan.  I know they are Endo Forged, but I thought they may be forged in Thailand.

Does Endo have a forging facility in Thailand?

Endo Thailand tends to forge the more complex multi material heads from what I understand the Endo Japan the basic one piece forgings.  This would make me think the ZX5 may be Endo Thailand but it makes no difference.  They use the exact same materials and processes just obviously a different assembly process with multi material construction.

For me, Made in Japan makes a difference in all goods but is not a dealbreaker or anything. Attention to detail, integrity, and craftsmanship are ingrained into the culture from top to bottom on a different level than any other place I've been. I would rather have a Honda built in Japan than a Honda built in Alabama. Mostly just a personal preference.

I'm thinking of getting a zx5 or the zx utility to replace my zx7 4 iron.  Though I love the zx7, it may be a good idea (especially in tournaments this summer) to bag a more forgiving long iron.  For anyone that has hit the clubs mentioned above, what are your thoughts?  Best for off the tee?  Best for off the deck/rough?

Thanks to @knudson81 @snagy2000 and @GolfChicago91 for the ZX Utility insight.  Did you go with a driving iron type shaft or continuation of your normal iron shaft?  I’m currently leaning toward continuation of Modus 105 at 38.25” between a 37.5” 6i and 39” DI-95 in 21 deg hybrid..?

I ordered it with the same Modus 120 as my ZX7 irons and hit it decent. Switched it out for a Fujikura Pro 115 in order to launch it a little higher and like it more now.

I went with a stock recoil which is available in this model. I'm happy with it so far, so no plans to switch out.

ZX5 is Endo forged too?

Yes sir.  Endo is known in golf circles as by far the most advanced forging house in existence.  Only close one would be mizuno.  Miura no way.  I'm talking about multi material forgings and complex underlays/head shapes.

Got it with the stock Recoil 95 and figured I'd swap it out asap for something else.  Didn't have time to before my first round with it, and found zero reason to switch.  Obviously do what fits your game, but even bone stock, the club was perfect for me.

Mine came in. Unfortunately wrong size grip but that’s okay. I had the 65 series before and these are next level. The feel is a lot nicer and I like that they went back to the 45 series sole. The satin chrome finish is nicer as well.
Now the set is complete with my zx utility 3 with Accra tour z xtreme hybrid shaft.
waiting on some red white and blue mcc aligns to come in and I’ll hit the course with these and give my two cents

ignore the mess by the mat we had a crazy few days of high wind that blew stuff all over the place.

Incredibly jealous as I'm waiting for a shipping notice on mine.

When did you order? I ordered a similar set a few weeks ago.  Trying to determine when I should expect mine to arrive. Thanks.

Really wish the zx7 Aw wasn’t a blade . I uses the Aw for mostly full and 3/4 and half wedges

Anyone use a different set wedge (apex pro /t100) for third gap wedge ?  Debating on doing that or a cbx2

At a loft that high, the forgiveness comes form the loft, not the perimeter weighting.

I am going to go 46/52/58, with the 52 and 58 being Glide 2.0 Stealths.

I've tried 50/54/58 setups, and the 50 has been a traditional blade wedge and a set wedge. And I never noticed a difference in forgiveness.

I went to the 52 because it took the debate out of which wedge to use. Now I don't second guess myself. And I have no problem using the 52 to get out of bunkers.

I’m also going ping for the wedges here. Mixed 4-5 ZX5 and 6-9 ZX7 for the irons with a Glide 3 in 46 SS, Glide 2 stealth in 50 SS and 55.5 ES (already had these), and Glide forged in 60 (snagged a mint store model from global golf for around $130). Might bend the 50 to 50.5 or 51 and the 60 to 61. There’s something about 61 that’s a comforting number to me and could use a bit of extra bounce.

I have the Glide 2.0's in 50 and 54 degrees and love them.

Yeah, the 2.0 stealths are so versatile (at least for me) and pretty soft for being a cast cavity back. Couldn’t find one in 46 though so had to go 3.0 there - may need lead tape to dial in weight with the AW.

they actually work really well as a transition from these irons

Also debating the A wedge spot, and would have preferred the ZX7 looked like the PW. Like a number of others it seems, I have Ping glides at the bottom of the bag (54/58) so I’m debating getting the ZX5 (my ocd likely would not allow this), ZX7 or  another glide 3.0 in that spot. If I got the 3.0 I’d prob match the shaft to my ZX combo kbs tour 120.
