Is it just me or is the 21 v1x the closest thing to the 15 V1x there’s been since then?

15 v1x happens to be my favorite ball.

today I walk into the pro shop and see the new balls are in.  I grab a sleeve for the round , and instantly I see the high launch and low spin I recalled from the 15v1x.  And I think “ they finally switched them back “.   I had given up on ever loving a titleist ball again.  But this thing is perfect. Spin is just right.  Not the uncontrollable spin on wedges. But enough to pull back a touch.  But just long off driver. High and long.

Wow you just made my life way more difficult. I played the 2015 V1X since it came out (I stocked up) Now I am out of the 2015 V1X and making the switch to a new ball. My fitting numbers have me in the left dash (great ball, but a bit firm for putting) the V1 was next and last 21 V1X.

I was going to try the V1 and not try the 21 X  but I guess I need to try all three instead of just the Left Dash and V1

I was just pricing out new balls for the season and came up with these prices.  Srixon usually comes out with a special at the first of the year, three for the price of two.  Not sure I will be purchasing ProV at $50 per dozen when there are other brands out there for less money.  I know these are not all equal but I can live with $22 per dozen for a good ball.

Prov1. $50

B RX. $45

Tour speed. $40

Tour soft. $35

Q-Star Tour. $33 (see special)

MTB Black. $33

Q-Star Tour. $22 (buy three for price of two)

In double blind tests very few golfers could tell the difference.

Yea.  Who knows.  Don’t take my knee jerk experience as gospel.  It’s been a while since I had any 2015 v1x to compare it too. For what it’s worth. I love the left dash in the summer too.  But during the really cold rounds it’s just too much like hitting range rocks to stand.  Lol.

If it turns out I don't like the 21 Pro V1X I will send you an invoice for the sleeve 😉

I gave the 21 Pro V1 a try today. Was not a 'great' ball for me but was sure nice off the putter. The left dash is still winning so far and prefer it everywhere but on the green. I will be giving the X a whirl and see how that works out. The issues is the weather still on the cold side, I am not getting a great sense of things rights now so I will keep trying them all out.

Didn't know there were 2 threads. I posted this in the other one but this appears to be the main one.

I'm not one inclined to give over-the top reviews of anything.

I see some posters says thing like "Got driver X and it's 30 yards carry past my Z one" only to find out later he was fit for the new one but just picked up the old one and played it.

Anywho, I've played pretty much every version of Prov1x since roughly their introduction until about 4 years ago when I went with the Chrome Soft.

Was (of course) upset over the off center discoveries of the CS but tried the new 2020 version and really liked it. Gave it a workout against TP5/x and Tour X and the Prov1/x.

Not much to choose distance-wise and went back to the CS. OK, I also like the look of the Yellow Truvis, especially around the green and off the putter. Something about those black panels on the yellow ball.

About 2 weeks ago I got a sleeve of each of the V1s and have been using either or both of them to play with the last 4 or 5 rounds.

I have no hard and fast data but,,,,,,, off the driver, on very familiar courses, I've been finding a number of drives in places I haven't been before. To be honest I haven't been checking which ball I've been playing when I find these longer drives but I've used both of them about the same number of holes.

Even accounting for wind strength and direction, and I've played a lot of rounds on these couple of courses, there's something going on here.

Off the irons it's a bit harder to tell and don't see any discernible different - in distance anyway. Still hitting the same clubs. and of course the v1 feels a bit softer than the v1x on pretty much all shots.

Will keep up the experiment(?) for a while though. clappy.gif

Got 2 boxes of the new prov1's as a gift and took them to the course. First wedge in, 54 degrees, 105 yards, and stuck 10 ft pin high. When I marked and picked up my ball, saw a scuff mark already. Wasn't too happy about that so will probably play with the remaining Prov1's and will return the other box for the new TP5X.

The firmer mantle, like the prov1x left dash, combined with a softer cover, it will be interesting to hear about the durability impressions of the golf ball.  With that said, every model of ball can scuff on a full wedge with fresh grooves, but is certainly an area to take a closer look at.  For me, I'm OK with a little scuffing if the ball performs really well.

FWIW, I've found the 2021 Pro V1 (after 10+ rounds) to be just as durable as the last few generations were. Multiple rounds with one ball are no problem at all.

But I'm a pretty slow swinger and don't buy fresh wedges as often as some people. So I'm probably not very hard on golf ball covers.

I play Yellow Pro V1s and after 6 rounds now with the Yellow 2021s I have noticed a significant increase in spin from 125 yds in. I'm zipping balls back 15 to 20 feet multiple times a round and I have NEVER done that and its off of dormant winter time Zoysia fairways no less. No new wedges or anything. The only thing changed is the ball. The 2021 spins way more than the 2020 did for me.

  • 2 weeks later...

After all the reading in this thread I decided to pick a box of the new ProV1. Had $10 off at Dicks so hoping this ball works out. Need less spin off the irons and more around the greens.

Don't think they make 'em.

PGATSS by me has all(?) versions.

Both V1 and V1x

Yellows only low numbers.

White ones with high or low.

Specialty numbers only in white as well (11, 22, 77, etc.) Dunno1.gif

‘21 ProV1 first round. Wow! That thing is awesome around the greens. Chipped in once and almost 3 more times. The softness is so good off the putter and with the irons.

Only negative is that is does fly lower off the driver, almost too low. But, I can almost give that up for how it is around the greens. Maybe I need to try the V1x especially if it has the green side spin of the V1. Might be a winner for me.

Durability is so good. Played the same ball the whole round and hit two trees with it. Still looks new.

I have 2 doz of the 2019 TM TP5 Pix that I’m trying out. My regular was the previous Pro v1.  Anxious to try out the new one.  I love the yellow.  Will likely buy a dozen for my good trip in 3 week.

Buy 3 get 1 free runs from 3/18-4/18 according to Fairway Golf’s website.

Every site I see doesn’t take the discount in effect or it shows pics of the 2019 version.   How did you get the cart to accept?

Which of the 2 is lower spin off the driver?

I think it’s splitting hairs at this point to say one is lower than the other.

I think they are built to have same spin; caveat being V1 just flighting lower and V1x higher.....

I know the V1 is pretty low launching for me. Anyone want to trade 3 sleeves of the V1 for the V1x?
