2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x

I figured that as this is a Tour release at this stage, this was the right forum but I see from social media that Titleist have the 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x beginning the seeding process this week on the PGA Tour. Anyone with any idea of what we are likely to see with this release...

Highly doubt that Titleist will go "New Coke" on us any time soon and make really significant changes to a product that so thoroughly dominates its market.

Could just be the lighting in that picture, but edges of the dimples look steeper than past versions.

I read in another thread (maybe the TSi Driver thread) that the new V1x may be a bit higher spinning (greenside) and softer feeling.

I agree that Titleist doesn't need to do anything drastic, but with how successful the TP5 has been, I would like to  see them tweak the normal V1 a bit more.

What else can they do to this ball?  I see a price increase coming....

I think they could add another layer to the Pro V1.  The V1x is a 4-piece ball, but the V1 remains one of the few high-performance balls with only 3 layers.

Simply put, adding layers doesn't necessarily mean offering anything appreciably better in performance.

The ball already does everything the clientele wants it to do with three layers. Adding a layer would make manufacturing more time consuming, expensive, and complicate consistency/quality control while not offering a performance benefit that would make incurring that added risk worthwhile (if any at all).

Consider that three of the four highest rated balls in that other forum's extensive ball study are a 3 piece design; ProV1, Z-Star, and Tour BX. Make of that what you will.

I don't quite get why the continue to make the V1x higher and higher launching when it seems geared more towards high speed players. I've been a long time V1x player but have liked the more recent versions of the V1 when I played them lately. Big fan of the new side stamp though.

That's a really good point.  As a recent TP5 convert, I'm unhappy with any ball that has less than 5 layers haha!

I got to try one of these. I am pretty sure it was the standard prov as it did not have the firmness of the X. It was good, I honestly could not tell a difference in the very limited amount of time I got to try it.

Hope I didn't sound like I was throwing shade at you or the TM ball; thanks for not taking it that way. Haven't played the TP5 as I prefer the firmer feel of X type balls, and having played the TP5X some recently have been quite impressed. TM and Titleist have different ways to engineer a mouse trap, and both are obviously effective.

Why don't companies make an alignment aide that is really thick and useful as an option?

Because a line is easier to aim than a wider bar. At least when you‘re behind the ball. Read about that a couple of years ago. Its optics/biomechanichs/whatever that Is called. Biooptics?

Alignment line looks good to me, hope they have an updated Left Dash with that alignment aid on it and maybe allow you to order custom play numbers on the Left Dash next year

A little softer feeling option is the only thing a near-perfect Pro V1 can do to improve right now

Weird, I thought it was the opposite but I’m sure I’m wrong.  I started using a fat line on my ball because the thin one never seemed aligned just right. Each their own but I’m putting better with the thicker line.

Did not buy into it at first, but putted well with a standard sharpie line and have no Tool for trying a larger one, so I have to stick with it.

Think these look really good and better than the last model but I do wish the lines didn't have the arrows at the end. Also wish I could get a red number on the reg Pro V.

There is a good reason you like the Pro V1 better now if you are a long time X user...they switched performance in 2017.

I still feel like the V1x is a longer ball for me, I didn't know much about the left dash but I might need to give it a shot.

My burning question hopefully someone could help me with. I currently play the 2015 ProV1x. I went away from the ball for a few years and did try the 2017 and 2019 ProV1 for a while but found the the 2015 X much preferred. My last fitting the titleist guys said I should play the ProV1 as I produce lots of spin with my swing - on course testing  brought me back to the 2015 X.

As you may be able to guess, my time with the 2015 ProV1x is ending soon as I will run out of stock and doubt I can get my hands on more (unless I am able to have a strong winter and pick up a Titleist ball contract). So what ball to try? The 2021 Pro V1, X to left dash?

I would think based on that either the Pro V1 or left dash. Probably best to try both to keep your wrx card. 😊

It all depends when they hit stores. I tend to buy my balls at the beginning of the season when they do the 4for3 deal. The left dash might be hard to test before then.
