If I were to order a SIM2 TI 3 wood at 3/4”-1” shorter than standard, is the consensus saying they would add weight back to the head to meet the stock SW? In years past this wasn’t the case, speaking from experience unfortunately.

From what I’ve read on these boards the answer would be no.

Does anyone have a picture of the front weight? Anyone have the weight of theirs?

Given this is part of the tech for low spin & high MOI if this weight is changed by TM doesn’t it alter the spin and MOI and therefore shouldn’t I be asked if I wanted it changing?

If they say it’s negligible between say a 6g and 10g weight or whatever, then why do we need to screw in weight near the face at all?

Ok so I bought some “proper” scales

It’s made me question the weight figure on the Tour Issue stickers, as in, what they are actually weighing?

I have an M5 tour issue which said was 198.0g, I can only match that weight with screw and adaptor. The head without adaptor is 190.6g (with screw)

my SIM2 head and screw is 193.56g or 200.96g with adaptor.

If measurements are done with adaptor then head weight seems ‘normal’.

Just waiting on my swing weight scale to arrive to further check what’s happened to the club based on the 1/2” longer. I suspect it’s a few points over the D5

Whats up with Taylormade not having the hazardous smoke RDX in a 60gram shaft as stock

they only seem to offer the 70gram as stock is it because of head weight just curious .

I think it’s because the 70g is actually less than 70g.  Sounds silly I know but you can look the specs up on their website.  The 60g option is offered at no upcharge unless you want the PVD 😜🤪

Just pulled the front weights from two different Sim2 driver heads. One was standard length and the other was ordered 1 1/2” short. Smaller weight is 3g and that head weighs 195g with no adapter. Larger weight is 13g. That head weighs 205g with no adapter. Not sure if they will swingweight fairway woods but they did with my driver. Hopefully this is the new norm.

I might stand corrected here! Good to see.

Good work, thanks for doing this.

now I need to find out what weight is ‘normal’ and which is in my head

I presume I’ll need a Torque Torx wrench to replace the screw, if so what Nm?

My guess is the 3g weight will be standard. That was in the driver I bought off the rack. I used a bit holding screwdriver. My first attempt was with a Husky bit from Home Depot but it snapped. I went back and grabbed a Dewalt and it came right out. There is no way to over tighten when you reinstall. The screw will spin easily up to a point and then it just locks up. You would really have to crank on it to do damage. Adjusting this weight is much easier and way less stressful that changing the back weight on the original SIM driver.

The bit size is T20 and make sure you get one that has a hole in the tip.

Well I ordered a 9 degree SIM2 max with a 80 gram rdx black +1 1/2” longer shaft. The head weight is 195grams with no adapter and the swing weight is E4!

I was hoping it would have weight removed from the head so I could play it in my autoflex shaft.

My 10.5 degree SIM2 Max (with the no charge ventus black shaft +.25") was built correctly.

I got 36 holes in with my new SIM2 this weekend, and a quick 9 holes in this past Tuesday.  I had the original SIM before this, but  got the SIM2 as a warranty replacement for my SIM.  Both are 10.5* heads (turned down 1 click on the loft), and I was using my Attas Element Earth 7f4 tipped about 1/2" in the SIM2 this past week.

The biggest adjustment for me was the tee height coming from the SIM.  The SIM 2 isn't as shallow, and I found myself teeing it up too high when I first got it.  After some more range time, I figured out that I just needed to tee it at the same height as my SIM.  Once I started doing that, things were fine.

I don't think distance is much different between them, but the biggest difference to me is forgiveness and feel.  I think the SIM2 is a bit more forgiving on mishits, and it just feels better.  I don't have any numbers to give you, but I didn't see any playability issues on shots into the wind with the SIM2.  The way my ball reacted was very similar to what I was getting out of my old SIM.

I'm using the Elements Earth as of now because it's a comfortable shaft for me to use in the winter time when it's cooler outside and I can't get my lower back to loosen up enough.  The shaft that I really liked in the SIM was a 70g Diamana D+ LTD White.  I haven't tested that in the SIM2 yet, but when it starts to warm up, that's the main shaft I plan on using with it, unless the ACCRA CS1 or Oban Devotion shaft beats it out.

I have SIM2 Max head - need to drop 8g of head weight to achieve C8 for my AF shaft... can I just take the back weight out of a SIM2 head and replace it on my SIM2 Max? Coincidentally it’s 8g lighter 16g vs 24g

I could be wrong, but I thought the back weight is slightly different shape between the SIM 2 and SIM 2 Max?
