Are the new 0211 irons larger or smaller than the Gen3 P irons? I know the 0211 is a progressive set so wondering how it would slot in compared to the P and T. Thanks

The shaft upcharges are disappointing given their few standard offerings.

Noted and agreed - this represents quite a change when in the past releases the shaft options have been wide and varied.

There seems to be a bit of disillusionment with the brand, or maybe that is just me but I am looking elsewhere for this year’s upgrades.

With the price discount, their gen 3 irons have come into play versus other irons that are typically in the $180 ea. range.  If PXG took another step and offered some vanilla shafts with no upgrade cost like Mizuno, Callaway and Srixon, that would further attract golfers and increase their market share.

On the topic of their shaft offerings, unless I am mistaken, they do not have one no up-charge iron shaft option, steel or graphite, between the Elevate 95 (say 95g) and Elevate Tour (say 115g).  And then not one no up-charge graphite shaft in excess of the 80g MMT.

It really is quite staggering and disappointing to be honest.  So many of us play in that 95-110g range, and they could throw us a bone without an up-charge like every other OEM, like a Modus 105, NS Pro 950, KBS Tour 90/105/110, Elevate 105, DG 105, something--anything.  Just my humble opinion.

For me the feel was improved in Gen 3 over Gen 2, which were a little clickier.

When Gen 3 was like $400 I would say it wasn't worth the upgrade. But now they're down to $199 an iron vs. $129 for Gen 2, so I'd say if you have the money, I do like Gen 3 better. Gen 3 seems to blend the best of Gen 1 (feel) and Gen 2 (distance, forgiveness).

I really have no idea what the strategy behind changing their prices every other week is, though. The 0211 line was announced 1/7, and the fairways alone have undergone 2 price drops in 3 weeks.

Agreed.  For me, Gen1 felt great.  Gen2 performed better, but didn't feel as good as Gen1.  Gen3 was the best of both worlds.

They've kind of lost me. I love my irons, but their marketing/pricing lately really leaves a lot to be desired. Honestly, who thought it was a good idea to release a product and then immediately have 2-3 price drops within the first month? Sure, you can call in and ask for a credit (what, every time?), but I don't want PXG credit, I want them to figure out their pricing structure. It's bizarre and I'm not sure what the goal with it is. It's like buying golf equipment at Building #19 or something.

I am just wondering if PXG is going downhill or it's just simply changing their marketing strategy. It hurts the brand for sure. But a guy like me is now at least looking at their clubs. Back then, I didn't even think about it due to the price tag. However, drawing attention from a guy like me would upset many PXG brand followers.

Sounds like a perfect marketing strategy to me, i'm also in the same boat as you, it certainly made me look at there clubs, and now i have the proto driver and just ordered the 0211 fairway, even thinking of getting the Gen2 0311T irons, but probably wont, i like my i500's too much

The pricing changes started last year as a welcome response to Covid, although they have always had very keen pricing for vets and first responders.

I've always assumed PXG is a vanity project for Parsons so he doesn't really care if he makes money or not, but I do find it quite interesting as a comparison to other manufacturers.

PXG was originally, and deliberately priced high. But they kind of had a technology story to back it up.

Other manufacturers loved it. As a result they felt they could also introduce ultra expensive clubs - Taylormade and Titleist in particular, but also Callaway and Ping. I don't just mean things like Titleist Concpt (or whatever they call it). They all have irons at considerably higher prices than they used to because they could point out they were still less than PXG.

Now PXG are selling the same technology for 1/2 to 1/3 what they used to says to me that (obviously) there was a big markup before, but also that there is a massive markup by all the other guys.

As an aside it is also depressing proof of the gullibility of people. I usually buy clubs used on eBay, and it was how I afforded my current PXGs when they were new.

Now, used PXG stuff sells on eBay for way more than you can buy it new from PXG.

I’ve noticed this to, especially with their woods. Crazy!

Does this work (asking for credit)? Asking because bought some Gen 3 irons not too long ago 😞

I think there's a 30 day pricing guarantee. If you purchased within that window they'll give you credit.

watched the video earlier in the thread. IMO a comparison between the prior gen 0211 and the new ones is worthless unless you include specifically the 4-irons in the comparison. The 4 iron is the one club in the set of the original 0211's that best shows off the capabilities of the irons, and how well the progressive set is designed.

I have a 19* gen2 hybrid with the weights in the back for high MOI, and my 0211 4 iron is easier to hit, launches higher, and spins more than the hybrid. Every time I hit the 4-iron it blows my mind how easy it is to hit.

I’ve stumbled my way into PXG recently with a Proto driver.  Just took it out for the first time last week and it is very impressive.  Great mix of forgiveness, shape, feel and performance.

I’ve never even looked at the brand before. Just not something I could remotely justify spending that kind of money on.  However, now I find myself ordering the Proto 3 wood and researching the 0311T irons.

Crazy what they are doing, but they must be moving some serious product with these current prices.  By summer time we will probably come across more PXG product in the wild.  Maybe this is what they are after before they move back into their previous marketing and brand strategy?  Who knows.  What I do know is I’m now interested more in the brand than I ever was before.
