This is about accusing someone of intentionally misleading the tournament and its viewers with financial and commercial ramifications. And I hesitate to believe it’s without reason.  Maybe his reasoning is petty ? But maybe it’s not?  At any rate it’s easily believable that we have a person with a hole that can’t be filled.  Meaning just because you preview him as “ made it “ doesn’t mean he’s not still in faking it mode.  That doesn’t excuse some things mind you.  But it would explain them.  But most aren’t interested in understanding. Any of you with wives or girlfriends ... they've most likely been seeing her work for the last 5 years or so because her current employer is ... popular. She often brings her desk beside mine and we work side by side so I've watched her do plenty of editing and graphics compositing.

 

So. Here's the technical scenario for some ne'er do well to "doctor" the incident and broadcast it. First, someone has to have it out for PReed and is simply waiting for the opportunity. For arguments sake, let's say it's the graphics team at NBC or whoever was airing it. They have to be waiting for JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT to spring their trap ... all while, you know, doing other things at their job. And then ... ah ha! Now's the time! We've got him! Let's go, boys!

 

All of that is already pretty dumb ... but let's continue.

 

They would have to capture and export the video clip from that moment, export it to an editable file, bring it into, say, After Effects then take the time to actually create the effect. There's no "add sand to a waste area bunker shot takeaway" plugin to my knowledge so someone would have to create it by hand. I've seen how long it takes  Ms. aenemated to do relatively simply compositing - far simpler looking than a gravity based particle system around a 2D object ... which would be the quickest way to do that ... and even that isn't "quick." There's simply no chance that could be done from a technical level. Here's the thing that (almost) everyone misunderstands about PR. He does NOT need your individual, collective, nor the press' approval of him as a person or golfer to make him happy. It seems today's "consumer" will do almost anything for "likes" and social media positivity. From a pure golf perspective Reed is a sensational player, especially his chipping/pitching game. Several Tour players cheat , so while he may be the current poster boy for golf cheating , he is not alone. I just watch at and appreciate someone's golf shot making and scoring skills without thinking much about their personality or ethics.

He doesn’t need their approval, but he desperately needs their disapproval. He can’t play well unless he is villainized.

A while back the same tweet was sent out by Reed’s official account and Justine’s burner. That person had access to both accounts. We know who is behind usegolfFACTS.

Or maybe more accurately we suspect it’s the same person . Whom is really unknown.  
 

 

my point is not that though. My point is that any info , any .. from Twitter, is tainted by the fact that 99% of it is a huge game of telephone.  Once a lie is repeated , it’s retold so many times that it becomes “known fact”. This renders is useless as a source of info.  
 

 

all you can know for sure by watching the twits is how huge the group think tank is.  Real question.  What does one get out of following a person they hate ? 
 

id advise any adult ( Phil included ) to cancel any public profile.  The negatives to quality of life and pocket book far outweigh any positives.

the pics screen shot from Twitter.  What are they attempting to show ?  Is it lost in screen shot ?  Or ?  All I see is several boxes drawn around the clubhead.  I guess I don’t get how the pics show what the statement claims.  Or even attempts to show.

It has been said by many before.  When is comes to art, literature, music, athletic ability etc, I separate “artist” from the body of work.  I can appreciate an outstanding performance independent of who is doing it.  None of them are my Buds anyway.  If you limit appreciation of art, music, athletics to those who’s morals, looks, lifestyles you agree with, you will miss out on a lot.

I actually went and took a look at the tweet out of curiosity after posting my reply. 

 

What the .. um ... "expert" seems to be trying to say is that compression artifacts were being made out by SOMEONE to be sand brushed away by the clubhead. Like if you look at the spots he marks up and comments on, he's trying to say because there's artifacts around the network logo bug, etc ... the "sand" is just another compression artifact.

 

But that's not how it works. It doesn't add something that isn't there. It may obscure edges when there's a distinct color difference and the compression algorithm is trying to "blend" the two it so it looks smoother but it doesn't just insert this big blob of additional color ... and it certainly doesn't do it in such a way that it would be misconstrued as what literally everyone who's seen those videos has seen.
