my point is not that though. My point is that any info , any .. from Twitter, is tainted by the fact that 99% of it is a huge game of telephone.  Once a lie is repeated , it’s retold so many times that it becomes “known fact”. This renders is useless as a source of info.  
 

 

all you can know for sure by watching the twits is how huge the group think tank is.  Real question.  What does one get out of following a person they hate ? 
 

id advise any adult ( Phil included ) to cancel any public profile.  The negatives to quality of life and pocket book far outweigh any positives.  

This comment goes against a lot of the modern day grain but I think it’s 100% spot on. 
 

The benefit doesn’t outweigh the cost (or potential cost) - costs which come in many forms.

Aside from my own experience editing video for fun, Ms. aenemated is a professional video editor and motion graphics artist. Any of you with wives or girlfriends ... they've most likely been seeing her work for the last 5 years or so because her current employer is ... popular. She often brings her desk beside mine and we work side by side so I've watched her do plenty of editing and graphics compositing.

 

So. Here's the technical scenario for some ne'er do well to "doctor" the incident and broadcast it. First, someone has to have it out for PReed and is simply waiting for the opportunity. For arguments sake, let's say it's the graphics team at NBC or whoever was airing it. They have to be waiting for JUST THE RIGHT MOMENT to spring their trap ... all while, you know, doing other things at their job. And then ... ah ha! Now's the time! We've got him! Let's go, boys!

 

All of that is already pretty dumb ... but let's continue.

 

They would have to capture and export the video clip from that moment, export it to an editable file, bring it into, say, After Effects then take the time to actually create the effect. There's no "add sand to a waste area bunker shot takeaway" plugin to my knowledge so someone would have to create it by hand. I've seen how long it takes  Ms. aenemated to do relatively simply compositing - far simpler looking than a gravity based particle system around a 2D object ... which would be the quickest way to do that ... and even that isn't "quick." There's simply no chance that could be done from a technical level. And even if it could, it would have to get exported to various formats for broadcast - as opposed to the easy effort of just, you know, replaying the original capture - which takes some time (especially when it has to render a particle system) and then replace the replay of the recorded queue with a doctored file, all without someone else being all "hey, what is this s***?"

 

So to answer the question ... that's how I know. 🙂

I appreciate this very much. I am in a similar industry and I love when a professional (or one with connections to one) can thoroughly breakdown why something is BS. 👍

There is no reason for Justine to say that NBC purposefully edited video to make Patrick look like he was cheating unless he actually did cheat. Everyone knows Reed cheated, even the Reeds, except you apparently.

No, she brought up the idea that someone edited the video to “publicly smear” Reed. This was in the context of Eddie Pepperell tweeting about another Reed rules snafu at the Farmers this year. He said Reed has talent (no doubt), doesn’t cheat all the time (who cheats all the time?), and that Reed “has many episodes like this.” At this point in the Patrick’s story, if you aren’t aware of all the times he has cheated you must not care to know because they are numerous.

I enjoy watching him. The man has serious short game talent. He's definitely a unique player. I just wish he cheated slightly less.

I like his game, but calling a spade a spade. When you go on social media to claim NBC doctored video of you to tarnish Reed's image and increase their viewership, you have jumped the shark. 

 

If you want to be a full-fledged fan of Reed, it's your right. Just admit that you like the guy despite being a known consistent cheater and liar. I can respect that. Why defend the indefensible?

Calling a spade a spade is fine. The media and social media takes it a step further than that and makes it hard to be a part of the mob.

There are a lot of guys on tour that for one reason or another is unlikeable. With that being said, all the things that Patrick Reed has been accused of or found to be doing, the reality is, he is still on Tour. So with that, I dont spend my time dumping on a guy that I do not know personally for his antics on the course. I personally dont follow him or care what he does. I know that he has enough talent and has won a fair share of tournaments. It falls on him to take the chance of what he does to maybe getting Dq'd or even worse, being banned. We are not anywhere near there yet so in anything else, dont spend too much energy on a guy if you dont hang out with the guy or are directly affected.

Tiger has had his share of issues on and off the course. He cheated on his wife. He forgot the drop rules at Augusta. A HD camera zoomed in on the ball at the BMW. The latter was something he should have admitted. The difference between Reed and Tiger’s on-course infractions is that I don’t think Tiger was intending to break the rules. I believe Reed was intentionally trying to break the rules during his rules snafus.
