Yeah this is definitely getting gamed. Glad it’s not a replica of any original (see T22). But an update version with some classic tech. Hope I get lucky on 8/6

Maybe reverse that order? Shaft, then grip. And you know you can get a clubmaker, or a tool, to remove the grip without destroying it. So much angst.

It is more I dont like the scotty grips. I think they are trash..

Scotty could have easily released these as a new line (minus that awful striping) and had a hard time keeping up with demand.. imo.

I totally agree. But you would think at some point Titleist/ Acushnet says why sell 1000, or whatever the number is, for $600 when they could sell probably thousands+ more at $450-500?

Reminds me of retro Jordan releases. They sell out for $190 and the shoes go on the secondary market for $300 or so.  Not really worth the trouble to try and flip. I sometimes think that Nike would do better not limiting them but I think they realize that scarcity drives demand. 
 

I think if they released these at $400 like the other ones they sell they’d certainly sell more but they would cannibalize their own sales. I think they know what they are doing. 
 

I think the secondary market is not going to be that crazy initially. They are sitting on eBay with no bids for $1100. Anyone know how many they are releasing?  You may see them everywhere.  
 

Anyways I have a few feelers out. I want one for $600 and I will game it. Not paying any more than that.

Hit the nail on the idea. There’s a reason Nike releases every new hyped up model in limited quantities. It’s to build interest and demand before they release 100 colorways

I’m on a reserve list. I know when I got my T22 Newport, there was a secondary release. Fingers crossed I get one before searching for it on the secondary market. I have the perfect display on my wall for 4 Scotty’s.. this is #2 I’m trying to add.

It is Bettinardi that has missed the boat (last 20yrs) by not re-releasing their insert putters or brass plugged putters.

This is so inaccurate. You’re thinking Golfwrx mentality. Truth is the majority of the golfing public won’t spend 250.00 on a putter much less 400.00!!!  People come in a spend 500.00 on a driver all day long but ask them to spend some money on a putter and they go straight to used or a 150 option. That’s why odyssey sells more putters than anyone. Price point wins. Forget the fact the putter is the most important club in the bag. Joe golfer wants to hit bombs and three putt

From the buttonbacks I’ve owned before I can say that’s it’s a touch softer at impact but still firm enough to give the proper feedback. Not as mushy as an odyssey or TM insert.

I don't get the hate on these.  Sure the bottom is crowded and the stripes on the face are eh.  But do you look at the sole or face when over a putt?  I don't.

You also don't look at the outside of your car when you are driving it but that plays a huge factor in our vehicle of choice...

The stripes will make for some fun DIY custom paint projects. I think the car analogy is apples to oranges and doubt anyone in this thread would turn down one of these for $600, even if it was to flip it. 🙂

I think someone mentioned above that Dick’s/Golf Galaxy aren’t doing preorders but doing a release on the 6th. PGA Superstore may be in the same boat. 
 

I went through the head pro at my club, and he reached out to the local Titleist rep. We don’t really move a ton of Titleist stuff so I got pretty lucky.

What are people who preordered seeing for a price?  I asked my head pro and he didn't know what he would charge as of last week, estimnated it in the $850 range.  My local shop is charging $1000, and the fitter nearby doesn't know yet.  I know MAP is $600 but cost is $480, so the shops aren't happy with less profit on this than a retail stick apparently.

It's like high sought-after vehicles. If they know the demand so they will bring the price up

I asked my head pro as well.  Since there are 300 or so members and mine was the first request, I assume I'm getting one but I have no confirmation.

 

I am going to assume that I will pay retail.  I don't see why a pro would charge $850 for a club that retails for $600.   And I don't think any retailer would do that either.  I have to guess there are rules against that, just like there are rules that they can't sell clubs for less that a certain price.
