They're 98% the exact same thing but with updated badging. Whatever someone did with the 2019's...they will do the same with the 2021's.

Have 4 rounds on my 2021 100s.  Can’t compare to previous model because I never gamed them.  Thus far I am impressed with looks, feel, distance, distance control and workability. There is some forgiveness in them which I appreciate and need.  Not quite as forgiving as the Apex 21 they replaced but I’m enjoying them.

I'm not sure I would agree with this entirely... the sole designs are very different.  I think the 2021 has more weight down low which might be helpful to some but the 2019 has the pre worn leading edge.  I only hit both indoors and feel is almost identical out of the center, but misses may feel a touch better in the newer model.  They will most likely perform the same strike for strike but I think an iron with a forgiving leading edge is always better.  The 2021 look more like a Mizuno grind to my eye, but I do think that leading edge can be a huge advantage for performance gains.

How are people gapping their wedges with this set?

Gapping is a personal thing. Won’t be the same for everyone.

get on a launch monitor and get your carry distances. Don’t rely on what the number is on the bottom of the wedge

going  48 gap 54 60

I don't care what carry yardages are.  I might have Exactly 110 (carry on 26) once every 3 rounds - I care more about partial distances and performance from the sand.

Isn’t “gapping” about carry yardages?

Not sure how you can say that. They sure look quite a bit different from the back.

I tend to agree with three-times-a-charm. The changes are mostly cosmetic and the rest is marketing mumbo jumbo.

To be honest, I don't think Titleist can improve the performance of these iron heads without coming up with revolutionary new technology.

The "98% the exact same thing but with updated badging" is what "got" me.

They certainly don't look 98% the same. I have no doubt they're simply derivative in nature and most all improvements in the same model iron are incremental in nature and in this case "hidden".

And maybe I'm taking what he said too literally. Had he said mostly "cosmetic", as you did, that I could understand, but I also can't tell what's under the "muscle" whereas before I could see the "cavity".

Anyway, no biggie. 👍

I prefer my 2019 model. Turf interaction for me is much better with the pre worn leading edge..

distances are the same, the 21’s do launch a little higher..

Bag appeal though the new 21’s beat the 19’s all day 🤣

I feel exactly the same about the T200s.  Not exactly a popular opinion in that thread 🙂

  • 3 months later...

I moved from 2019 T100's to 2021 T100S'. Same shafts, and now I have MCC Plus 4 grips rather than Tour Velvet.

I haven't really gelled with the new irons yet and I'm not sure if it's me or them. I haven't played a whole lot of golf since they arrived and I'm working on a few swing changes, but nevertheless... I am struggling with distances. They seem to go so much further than a simple 2 degree stronger loft would suggest and more than slightly stronger lofts combined with the impact position changes I'm trying to achieve would suggest.

So - I'm still on the fence. They do feel noticeably better, but it's slight - same with sound.

Edit: wedges are PW (44), 52, 58, 64. I find a 6 degree gap generally works well for me but I haven't really found a reason to change anything with the now 8 degree gap between pitching and 52.

As for wedge setup - I ordered the T100S 48 deg gap wedge to go along with my existing 54 & 58 Vokey's.  Plan to adjust lofts as necessary once I test how far everything goes.  Hoping to only need to bend the 54 to 53.  Clubs are supposed to arrive tomorrow.  Too bad there is 6 inches of snow on the ground.
