Agreed......Plus the fact that he won't be able to sleep at night knowing that Phil holds the record for being the oldest major tournament winner......

Tiger is ultra competitive...but I cannot imagine he even considers Phil his competition anymore. When they were 1 and 2 in the world, the gap between them was rather large.

Tiger toothpicks (no calves) do not provide the needed foundation for his beefed up torso.  For his sake, I hope someone educates him on the importance of building up his lower-mid legs.

Some people just can’t get big legs. If Tiger could have, he would have.

Actually, not true.  I have been working out since HS, count the years I am 70.  Guys I played football with were somewhat similar to the aforementioned.  It took a great deal of focus, but they improved.  The problem is working on calves and muscles around the knees is often boring.  No attention getting pzazz, like quads get from leg lifts and other upper body lifting.

I’m sure the football players you played with got big legs. But not everyone can.

lol it doesn't work like that.

Plus calves are mostly genetics, and his back surgeries / herniated discs affect the innervation to the calves which is now compromised, even more with the accident now for the right leg

I’ll respectfully disagree. I know pro level bodybuilders with upper legs the size of redwoods that can’t get their calves to match/respond regardless of how intensely they train them. More than a few ended up getting calf implants to keep the symmetry the sport requires. Small blurb below from Bodybuilding.com for some context.

Not happening.

His day out at golf is finished. Saying that, respectfully to the other pro's on tour, Tiger could still kick their arses with the pronounced limp he has now.

big calf muscles are either genetic or you were once way overweight, like Phil. your leg muscles are lifting you up every step you take and the heavier you are the more the muscles get worked out, a lot of people overlook this. even Phil's calves have shrunk since he lost weight... show me a person who has been skinny/lean their whole life with big calves, I've never seen one.

Psst, don't put it up on his Twitter feed (you'll get "Unfollowed"), but he's put a lot of the weight back on.  Guess he liked his bigger calves.

like I said genetics, he's like 1 in a few hundred thousand if not more. plus he's an athlete in insane shape

Right, genetics can account for big or small legs, which was my point with Tiger’s legs

Ya, calves is all generics. This one kid on our offensive line, his calves were stupid. We put him on this standing calf raise machine  and he did the whole thing, was like 500 pounds. So we start hanging plates all over the stack and think we got close to 1000 pounds and he did it ! 🤣

His spine was like all compressed, we were laughing but was pretty scary now I think about it. This kid was a mutant though.

I know many Body builders, they are vain as women, so implants are NO surprise.   I know one body builder / actor guy that has so many implants, including buttocks, listing them is a joke.  But athletes that have to deal with impact to their bodies are a different breed.  Even contractor guys that I went in-country with developed body's that could withstand extensive abuse.  When I was a CAT cyclist racer I was considered big, legs like Eric Heiden.  Odd, for sure, as most serious cyclist have fast twitch narrow muscles and calves more like my forearms. lol.

Point is, if the upper body can be developed, most likely calves can be developed too.  It's just that people are lazy about them and some make excuses.  Sure there are people that can't develop calves, but contrary to what some want to believe, there are a helluva lot of guys that just don't bother with their calves cause they get no attention for them.  Nobody looks at calves, and says wow, but everyone notices biceps, pecks, 6-pck and quads.  Look at Bryson C. when he came to the tour after his body development away from the tour; nothing much was said about his calves, but a lot was said about his upper body.  Great point, sure there are exceptions to every rule, but that's all they are, exceptions, NOT the rule.

It's all in the genes. Weight has nothing to do with it. Yes I am almost 70 and overweight and have large calves. The same large calves I had at 17 in high school when I weighed 150 lbs.

weight definitely has something to do with it, have you ever seen an NFL linebacker or obese person with small calves? I literally have 2 friends who lost 40+ lbs and their huge calves shrunk in half. it being a muscle you wouldn't think that would happen

Who would have ever thought a “Tiger update” thread would turn into a big debate on calves?! Gotta ❤️ it! 😂
And genetics have a HUGE role in how big a muscle is or can get. The elite level Mr. Olympia bb are guys with freak genetics, taking the best stuff and working hard… If the average guy took the same stacks as those guys and did the same workouts, they’d never even sniff their results. Will they grow, get stronger??? Absolutely, but still nowhere close.
